great vid
We need more of these on Suture Sound its my favorite of yours
D👾PE , love the outro play out groove 🦦
I like when geniuses say "Lazer-Beamy" :)
Common suture sound W
is it just me or does this one not sound so great...
Not just you, this sounds so bad I can't help wondering if it's someone from behringer doing this demo!
idk why but this makes me think of a synth module thats a robot that plays a guitar…. imagine modilations for like pinch bending and wammy bar and stuff like that…
I noticed almost all of these modules have black faceplates, and on the mega synth half of it is silver and half of it is silver- how much effort do you put into matching the color, and does module color ever affect which modules you buy? Because sometimes I feel kinda OCD about my Eurorack setup
I generally like to go for a unified aesthetic but I’m not hardcore about it if it’s not going to work sometimes. Hence the Rung Divisions hanging out in this video!
I also noticed andrew switched plaits to a black faceplate, fitting the rack hes showcasing here :P Till now i have exclusively bought silver modules and i tried to keep it that way, but i dont want to miss out on all the amazing black plated modules haha (looking at acid rain Maestro and mimeophon)
Always love extremely nerdy stuff from you Andrew
Maybe I'm completely off base, but it doesn't sound like a Moog to me. I just don't hear that warmth.
wait who is this and why am I subscr OH RIGHT ITS ANDREW HUANG Right on man I’ll try to make a performance out of some of these ideas
I really like the idea of having a song where the modulation sequence is really the main riff/hook with what its modulating is more variable. Simple concept but a lot to explore!
yes it's really fun! our brains just love patterns so it's kinda neat that we can break that away from only ideas of notes or rhythms
I absolutely love this sort of exploration of a patch. Its very inspiring for my own patches!
Love that kind of videos... thx again Andrew
thank you!
Oooooo
i was literally just working on a song where i couldnt get the gltiches right. god i love eurorack
Glitches? Right? There's something funny about putting those two words together.
Is it capable of making nice sounds?
Hell yeah! That was heavy! One hell of a demo.
I feel like we are missing some sounds
This is really inspiring. I want to see if I can get similar chaos out of the gear I already have.
The these are also sounds section is 🔥❤🔥🔥
Sick!
So sick❤✊🏼🙌🏼👏🏼🫡
awesome demo
how do you get your father back when you turn off and re-ignite? does he have no way to save? best regards
This is the best demo of the Labyrinth i have watched, but it still sounds hilariously bad
I can confirm that these are, in fact, sounds
i’m not convinced, gonna need to hear more of them to be sure
Anything that bridges the gap between fully generative and human expressivity, I'm down for.
Thinking of selling my DFAM and moving in a Labyrinth.
Don't
@@greenvelvet okay, I won’t.
I have spent about 20 or 25 K on synths and eurorack during the last 4 years but this actually covers most of i wanted to do in a compact and well priced stand alone device.
Surely the whole point of eurorack/modular is to see how much money you can spend to make random fart noises. Doing it cheaper is not in the right spirit 😂
Suture is back
Just ordered that beautiful fart machine
My gosh, 2:45 part is naaaasty. Can imagine this loop in some cyberpunk-metal-darkwave track. Or as well an intro for a Mick Gordon type track
Yep. F all my uncontrollable MakeNoise overpriced hipster crap. I'm getting this and it will make love to my DFAM.
Yep, much more useable than 0-coast or strega for my taste.
@@snorrevonflake I'm an improviser, I can't spend frustrating minutes and minutes jsut to try make the strega not sound like the strega.
Very musical !
Why is it the majority of the time I see modular sound demos they are all different sounding forms of a fart? I keep waiting to hear nice sounding, melodic loops. You know, the thing that the average listener would like to hear.
@@DoctorRevers Modular = fart, Korg = music. Got it. I better start letting the 60 years of musicians that made legendary music with modular systems know they did it wrong. Wendy Carlos is going to be super bummed. Thank you for your insight!
@@Cryptic808 Musicians like Wendy Carlos abused the Moog for music because there was nothing else available at the time, they would have wanted modern complex keyboard synthesizers. Modular is for weird bleeps, bloops and farts. Guys like Subotnick realized that early. Nobody buys modular to make music.
@@snorrevonflake Ok. Think I got it now. modular = sad, lonely bros making random noisy farts for no audience. non-modular = willful listeners enjoying music. They should really stop making pitch quantizers and smooth sounding filters then. I'll call Hans Zimmer, Martin Gore , Vince Clarke and the rest of people currently using modular to make music for millions that they are doing it wrong. Appreciated!
@@Cryptic808anything those guys have produced with modular fart boxes could have been made with standard synths. In fact vince clarke definitely did make all his best known music like that. Unless you can point me to some examples of stuff proving otherwise, happy to be educated, but I just don't see it. Apart from being nerdy fun for people with plenty of money, which is fine, I've never heard anything massively inspirational musically from a modular setup.
@@casinowilhelm oh, off the top of my head: Deadmau5, Trent Reznor, Hans Zimmer, Radiohead, Daft Punk, The Crystal Method, Alan Wilder, Martin Gore, the producers Flood and Daniel Miller, Bon Harris of Nitzer Ebb. Maybe you're right as a whole. Seems kind of sad that all of these people with walls of EuroRack use it just to make annoying blurps and frrrrts until the wife tells them to knock that Sh!t off because she has a headache instead of making enjoyable music for people. Oh well. Weird world.
Timestamps are on point
Wow I was really interested in this but after listening to the sounds here well you saved me £600! Thank you.
love the timestamps lol
Same lol
Love other sounds and sounds
yeah hdhfgdfg
Really interested in this! I love generative and semi-genetative things, and the dual sequencers add a lot of possibilities and counter melodies/modulations. It is cool seeing how well this works as an experimental drum machine too!
would love to see how this synth takes on the challenge of more ambient bloopy stuff. it feels like the corrupt knobs are a great candidate for that healthy mix of predictability and unpredictability you get in that genre
I think it'd do fantastic. Run this at a slow tempo through a Microcosm and/or Habit- instant ambience
@@bricelory9534 I was personally looking at the subharmonicon as my first dip into modular (i want to focus more on ambient drones) but the labyrinth is definitely now a strong contender to be an accessory piece to that setup
@@campfire2953 definitely - and another review shows this has a drone mode, so it doesn't have to be just short oscillator hits. Honestly, from what I can tell, both are quite cool and can do some very fascinating things. For me personally, I'm more interested in this sort of generative sequencing, but the Subharmonicon can do some special things itself.
Yea, i didnt want to criticize this video but yes i also see it rather on the slow, some weird bleeps every couple of seconds side.
The lack of attack stages could make it very static and limit it’s expressive range. I agree that the sequencer / corrupt function seems like it would work great for that type of music. But from what I can tell it’s either drone or quick attack. Maybe manually playing with the volume / filter while in drone would be a good compromise!
🎹❤
awesome tones, and that 10/8 sequence is really unusual......love the timbres and stereo field play......
Wasn't sure on getting one, even after watching a dozen other video here, but this one sold me, thanks.
thank you for your video, there are tutorials with presets? and can we have several paternal record and come out live?
