Because I have always been a railway enthusiast, a very high percentage of my recording was directed towards trains and railways.
I am not a professional camera man, just a private enthusiast. My films are not of high quality but provide a simple record of each location visited.
I thought it would be a good idea to share some of this footage captured over the last 20 years in the hope that it could provide interesting feedback from other enthusiasts who perhaps could comment on their own experiences of the subject locations.
Many of the railways featured in this series have changed greatly over the years, some have closed and others completely disappeared from the landscape.
Please provide your feedback, experiences, comments, corrections or any other input positive or negative. It is all welcome.
I hope you enjoy the videos. I plan to post new material from time to time as and when time itself permits.

WORCESTER DIGLIS, PERSHORE TOWN AND BESFORD JUNCTION IN GAUGE O - MY NEW GARDEN RAILWAY PROJECT
Worcester (Diglis), Pershore Town (LMS) and Besford Junction in gauge O was built in sections between the late 80s and early 90s by my friend John Webster.
John’s original idea was to create a piece of Worcestershire history that once might have been, but in the end was never built.
John not only researched the topic over several years, he also built most of the rolling stock, buildings, and created a working layout of what these locations may have looked like over a century ago when “railway mania” had taken hold across Britain.
This layout has featured twice in Railway Modeller magazine. First in May of 1988 as “Pershore (Midland)” and again in March of 1991, where it achieved ‘Railway of The Month’ as “Worcester Diglis”.
At this point I would first like to look at the inspiration behind the first part of John’s project “Pershore (Midland)”.
The original Midland 1840 main line from Birmingham to Gloucester, in its attempt to create the most direct route between these two places (also perhaps to reduce time and cost), left out several key towns along the route including: Worcester Tewkesbury and Pershore. It could be argued that Pershore town, situated on the edge of the famous Vale of Evesham and one of the main fruit growing areas of the Midlands would have provided heavy, albeit seasonal, agricultural traffic to the railway. The Midland rectified this situation over the years by building a number of feeder lines.
One of the many plans put forward by the Midland Railway in the late 1800s was a proposed four-mile branch line from Besford Station (a station existed here from 1841 to 1846, and under the proposal, would have become a junction) to a terminus in the center of Pershore. The station would have been far more convenient that the one some two miles from the town opened as part of the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway on 1 May 1852.
A few years later, John decided to create yet another piece of lost history in the form a railway to Diglis Dock.
The project was motivated by an article john read in a local news paper which told the story of a “British Waterways multi-million-pound Docklands development scheme for Diglis and Worcester in the 1880s.
Diglis was located on the river Severn, on the south side of Worcester at a point where the Worcester to Birmingham canal joined the river. It became an extremely busy waterways terminal handling a wide variety of goods transported by river, especially timber and hops.
The original 1880 scheme by the Stratford-upon-Apon and Midland Junction Railway proposed a link line from the main line at Spetchley, across the Timberdine meadows to a point in Timberdine Avenue near Bath Road.
A tunnel was proposed under Bath Road and the Cherry Orchard area, emerging at Diglis where a station, sidings and goods terminal at Diglis dock. The scheme rather optimistically proposed a further extension link across the River Severn, via a swing bridge, and to continue to Malvern.
The scheme was met with considerable local opposition and was eventually dropped anyway because its promoters could not raise enough cash. However, the idea was still not completely dead.
In 1923, under the London Midland Scottish Railway, interest was once again generated in the prospect of a line to Diglis Dock. This line would have involved a branch line from Worcester Foregate Street Station to Pitchcroft and along the riverside towpath past the Cathedral to the terminal at Diglis Dock. Once again the proposal was rejected due to considerable local opposition, this time including divine intervention from the Cathedral authorities.
So this leaves us with only a layout built by John Webster for both of these historic schemes that were never to see the true light of day.
The layout itself has its own history, having moved three times under John’s ownership. In October of 2020, I purchased the layout from John and plan to rebuild it with a much larger outdoor section.
Over the past three years, over the dreaded COVID period, the layout has been stored in various buildings at my home in Worcestershire. I have recently upgraded one of my outdoor sheds and within the next few weeks plan to rebuild the layout and the extended outdoor section into the garden.
I shot this video back in 2008 on my first visit to John’s Garden shed where the layout had last operated for many years. When I shot this video, I then had no idea that I would become its eventual custodian, and what an honour it is.
Thank you, John, for all the pleasure and happiness this layout has brought to so many and I intend to continue this effort, hopefully for many years to come.
This video is now a historic record of what the layout looked like and it contains some of the members of the Worcester Gauge O guild who used to operate it.
In the future I plan to post updates of the layout as it is rebuilt in its new home.

I have not seen a 44t General Electric locomotive in the flesh since 1965 when I frequently saw them running on the Trinidad Government Railway. On July 10th 2014 I was able to see one of these units for the first time in over 48 years and had the opportunity of driving a locomotive very similar to the ones that ran in Trinidad. I appreciate this historical record. As a child my parents would tell me about their adventures riding on the train and my dad preserved a train ticket in our family album and apparently my great grandfather was a checker for the railway. None of this compares to seeing the documents and archival footage.
When I was young I used to say, "bus terminus!" I'm old enough to remember the wooden walkover outside City Gate! This country sweet too bad! If only some citizens would appreciate it more.😢
I really enjoyed this short film, it was very interesting, i think that they should bring back the trains, they were beautiful
Great old days in my home town
PNM love to close down, from train 🚆 to sugar estate, refinery, blood clath boy
It was the biggest mistake the government made
the good old days......
It was a pleasure building the carriages for this
Very well done, those carriages are first class.
i was fortunate to travel on the passenger train in the early 60's, my stop was railway rd. California.
I used to live in Evans Street, Curepe and the trains used to pass in front of the house. My elderly grandmother used to wait for the train to pass on Fridays at 12:30 pm. That was the time for her weekly prayer. And I traveled on that last train to San Fernando, the 5:08, coming off at St. Gill’s Halt.I still have dreams of the trains.
So awesome ❤❤❤. I was a one year old when this happened.
It was the worse and biggest mistake the Authorities had Made 😢😢😢😢
Public Transport Bus Service was and is still the worst decision the government ever made and we the people continue to pay dearly for this. No vision and fore sight by our various governments except for Mr Manning idea of re introducing a public Train System which was put on hold.

This video should be in the school curriculum...for our history is where the youths of today may well appreciate what we had and where we came from,,, our forefathers may have a great part to play in this history... Your commentary on the whole on the journey to Arima and the window views of all the Old and famous structures are incredible.. Simply beautiful!!!. Biggest mistake
I visited the Barquisimeto station, the CTC room and climbed into the cabin of the GP 9 to chat with the engineer. There was a good restaurant at the station. All that was many years ago.
I got to fire her for a day in 97. I had a friend who got me in the cab and as we were both railroaders it was easy for us to jump into this. It's really sad that this great locomotive is just sitting in parts due to the fracture of a major casting. I hope that they can raise the money and get her fired up again
There was no need for a train system as the population emigrated to the uk to become train drivers
This is so cool to see. You have put a great deal of work in to this. 😎

The Truro to Falmouth line is a local train 🚊 service runs everyday including public holidays except Christmas 🎄 🤶 🧑🎄 🎅 Day and Boxing 🥊 Day. There used to be 2 car class 150/1 and 1 single car class 153/3 were on the route that ran from Truro to Falmouth via Penryn. Class 150/1 has left GWR - Great Western Railway 🚃 in late ⏰ December 2018 could have perhaps 🤔 had been on Monday 31st December 2018 (New Year’s Eve) went to NT - Northern and all class 153/3 has left GWR - Great Western Railway 🚃 perhaps 🤔 on Sunday 31st March 2019 and went to various other train 🚆 operators. GWR - Great Western Railway 🚃 runs every half hour on Mondays to Saturdays and public holidays, Sundays only is every hour and finally no service on 25th and 26th December are both Christmas 🎄 🤶 🧑🎄 🎅 Day and Boxing 🥊 Day. There are 6 railway 🚃 stations 🚉 between Truro and Falmouth via Penryn are Truro, Perranwell, Penryn, Penmere, Falmouth Town and finally Falmouth Docks. The short passing loop 🔁 has happened on the Maritime Line since October 2008 to allow 2 trains 🚆 🚆 to pass each other at the same time 🕰️ has happened for almost 😅 15 years. All trains 🚊 on the Maritime Line has standard class accommodation only and conveys a toilet 🚽 🚻. There used to be class 150230/236/240-242/251/253/254 in the southwest of England 🏴 until Sunday 10th December 2006 worn the Wessex Trains 🚆 livery and finally went to ATW - Arriva Trains 🚆 Wales 🏴 had been repainted into the first and second Arriva livery and on Sunday 14th October 2018 the company ATW - Arriva Trains 🚊 Wales 🏴 was altered to TFW - Transport For Wales 🏴 and are all wearing the TFW - Transport For Wales 🏴 livery. Class 158d also used to be used on the Maritime Line. The railway 🚃 staff have good 👍 rules to decide which type of trains 🚊 runs on the Truro to Falmouth (The Maritime Line) because it’s their job. I love 💗 the Maritime Line. I’ve been on the Maritime Line in both years 1995 and 2020 on the 2 car class 150/2. It makes me feel happy 😊. 👍 🤛 🤜 😀 😃 😁
