Birmingham City finished this game with only 9 men, but won thanks to a penalty save on his debut by Thomas Myhre & a goal from David Holdsworth. The game was best remembered for Martin O'Connor flattening Kevin Muscat, something many others wished they had done too.

RIP Byron Stevenson
Met up with Ali there. I was child then minding cars in the vicinity for football fans
I was at this match, remember it really well. Ohhh how we hated the villa, somethings dnt change.
God bless him
A real legend
wow where did you dig this old video out
🎉was at this game blues fans swapping shirts with charlton supporters in the tilton after the game
Blues best kit was 1967 - 1971
Peter Cushing , God bless him. ❤
That never failed to amaze me that they didnt do both of them together or at least when Eric was alive. Ernie was devastated when he died.
That was when Bristol were playing at Twerton Park ( Bath)
This was Eamonn’s only goal for Blues. Sadly he died of cancer at age 48..RIP.
He's got no hair but we don't care
Trevor Dark came on as Blues sub, played just five games then drifted into non-league. Must be pleased to see the only action of himself on film, got in a good shot, clipped the cross bar.
remember watching this at home on ITV then walking into Sutton Park to watch Radio 1s party there

Yet another win for Blues 👍👍👍👍👍
Lovely to see some old friends here, thanks for uploading
Remember blues fans running onto pitch towards away section at the end of the game. The Charlton fans legged it until they realised the blues fans had come to clap them. They walked back down and returned the applause 😆
Blues always beat Villa in the eighties 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great away kit by Adidas, better than what Nike do now.
Was there that day First game of the season red hot and what a winner Big piss up
FUN TIMES
Found it very hard to watch, very sad
Remember it well
Class goal 👏👏
Legend for me as a young bluenose I sneeked into faces nightclub only to find it full of blues players. Mick saw I was not getting served at the bar and called me over. Bought me two pints and chatted .
John Frain was such a great attacking full back. Blues Legend!
I seem to only remember Gleghorn scoring far post headers that season???
Name of the commentator?
Roger malone
I was there, seemed that half of Birmingham was as well.
RIP Trev
John Connolly , John Connolly, the winger to watch My first trip to Vile Park what a day.
Connelys goal was brilliant and iam not a blues fan .but leeds utd
Totally ruined my 21st birthday.👹
They moaned like buggery about the pitch after. Cant think why? Magic days.
Fry you got to love the man
Kenny Burns was a better player than he was credited for.fearless upfront or defensive roles.these men are long gone 😢
and he played in midfield for Scotland in the days they had a good team
Was in the Tilton !!!!
Kick and rush football but very exciting.
Benno was my hero! Ridiculous shot-stopper 🔥
Dark date like these are what makes what we have now at MCFC all the more special. I’m a season ticket holder at MCFC since 1976, matches like these were all to familiar.
Loved the Barry Fry era it's was exciting chaotic bliss ,home and away days were bostin 😅💙💙KRO
I was there 💙
Brilliant nil nil game. Bruce kept them in it but Harford miss late on !! Oh dear
Its funny how Alis racist comments from that Parkinson interview years ago are always overlooked.
Yeah he was heavily under the Nation of Islam back then. He softened heavily on his views a good few years before this.
There was quite a punch up after the final whistle when the Birmingham fans came on the pitch I will never forget one guy got bitten in the groin by a police dog .The dog looked so happy ;)
I went to the toilet with a few minutes to go. Came back 5 minutes later and said, "Did I miss anything?"
The good old days when players didn’t roll around pretending to be injured
Martin was a teaching assistant at my school, thats how i found this
