I just found this on my retro box. Left the village and was ambushed by goblins and died. Something about it is fun though ahah. Cool review
Impressive channel, keep it up!
I still rank it as the best RPG on the Super Nintendo, even with its one big flaw. In boss battles you have to micromanage the computer controlled characters to the point that the developers might as well have made the combat turn based. The Playstation version plays a little better in that regard.
Try Mega-Lo-Mania.
This has to be one of the worst games.
I would unironically use this game as a torture device.
This is the only game I've ever given a negative score.
I love this game. Its one of the games that forever assured my love of Shotguns in games, and easily my favorite SNES Run and Gun game. Its in my top three Run and Gun games too. I still don't know what whoever thought only including two playable characters in the Genesis version was acceptable was thinking. I still remember having to deal with my twin Cousins arguing about who got to use Cormano first while babysitting the night they got the Genesis version (We had been regularly playing the SNES version at my house since I got it much earlier and we all agreed Shotguns were the way to go.)
Professional experience, only thing I can see or hear is your microphone. Little scratchy. Other then that? Solid video and dialog. You either plagiarized or put thought into your words. Either way, solid formula and great job!
Thank you. And definitely no plagiarizing lol.
The game was a master piece.
Nice Video ! Sub & Big Like ! And Love Retro Golden Axe !
Thank you. It’s one of the greats
@mightyretro in that case, well done my friend. Solid video!
I just finished my first Star Ocean yesterday. Divine Force. Very exciting. The description of this SNES one sounds a lot like what we experienced with this newest one. I will like very much to play the earlier ones.
Great sword and sorcery universe.
did you get AI to write this script? It sounds like it.
One of my Mt. Rushmore of RPGs alongside Dragon Quest 4, Suikoden 1&2, Final Fantasy 6...
All solid choices
Currently playing this on XboxX. Totally worth it
Good call
Literally the best of all four. Developers outdid themselves with this one. They literally gave us fans a love letter with this one. They don't make games like this anymore. It's complete. It's bug free. They listened to everything us OG fans wanted. They tied everything together, story wise. It's perfection and done with the love and attention fans deserve. You won't find anything like that today.
It’s so good. Your right it is perfection
I won't lie: Phantasy Stars 1-3 were trash in their own ways. They had things that made them interesting, but whether it be glitchy gameplay, laughable enemy sprite animations, ridiculous storylines, a heavy reliance on grinding or whatever else, they were all heavily flawed. But then 4 came along, took the GOOD parts of all of them, polished them up, ramped them up to 11 and tied together all the stories into a damn masterpiece.
@@isleofredemption I can't disagree more. At the time, "Grinding" was something all of us loved!! We couldn't get enough, and it only made the experience we loved last longer. 1 and 2 were groundbreaking and free from bugs and glitches. Quality beyond question in my opinion.
I had never heard of this game before now. I'm a huge fan of dragons so I'm going to give it a go soon. Thanks for making me aware of it.
Your welcome. It’s a good one
One of my most replayed classic games.
Fav game of all time. Genesis gets a bad rep for its RPG line up, but its actually solid.
Nintendon't definitely had more rpgs and many of them were great but, none of them could match the quality of the Phantasy Star series, especially this one.
@@retroboomer3197 not to mention they never had a game (at least in US) like Warsong.
@@kevinharding3281 Warsong is the English release of the Japanese game Langrisser. I wish we would have gotten more like this. At the time, we needed more games like Langrisser.
I beat this masterpiece back in 94 , just after it came out a year or two prior.and honestly, it changed me, I was blown away by all the different types of characters you could end up playing as, dependent upon whom you chose for your previous character to marry.whew, what a sentence.lol.anyway it's second only (in my book) to PS 4 which , when developed, was a big big money production, whereas PS 3 , well it was made by a different team than 1+2 so with a tonne going on at Sega at that time, it was medium to low priority and didn't have a lot of cash, or expectations behind it. Anyway I could go on all day, great episode dude, thanks for the memories
Thanks. I played it later in life and was still blown away. The UI is hardest part to overcome now days lol
game is insane, pure chaos and destruction from start to finish. Absolutely love it, my favorite contra
So good!
2:15, the robot starts dancing.
Wasn't Pilotwings 64 developed by [the already-defunct] Paradigm Simulations for Nintendo, half a decade following the original?
Love the graphics, it still holds up very well. It would have been great to have a sequel with more stages, moves, enemies and puzzles
Agreed. Such amazing and unique game. Nothing else like it.
Man when my cable company had the Sega channel this was one of my favorites they had on there ..
Sega channel was way ahead of its time
Keep up the good work
Thank you
I would love a modern version of this with 4 player coop and even more enemies on screen!
That would be sick!
This one gets such a bad rap. It’s honestly pretty good though isn’t it?
It is good. Except for the poison lol
It's a great story and should definitely be played at least once if you're a fan, but it is the worst of the series. The enemy animations are weird, and the battle mechanics are bizarre. The multiple endings means you will be replaying the same thing over and over again. Again, it's ok the first time around, but IMHO, it has no replay value. Unlike the other phantasy star games, which I've replayed hundreds of times.
Too true brother
nice, I've only played the shooter ones, maybe one day i'll have time for this
Where can you play this game? Emulation?
It’s available on GoG but if your going the emulation route. Check out ExOdos. It’s an amazing dos emulator with every dos game ever made.
I really gotta get around to playing through this one, it looks so cool. Great review.
Thanks. It’s a good one
Amazing video..
Do you even own any of the games that are displayed on this channel?
Many of them, yes I do.
I haven't played this one yet but that opening theme is burned into my brain because its in an easter egg in PSO2: New Genesis :)
Phantasy star is a great series
I love finding these little channels with such good quality videos. And this is a great one. Easy sub and look forward to watching it grow. Keep it up!
Thank you. Glad you appreciate it
My parents got this game for me when i was a kid. It was fun, but very odd
That’s awesome
I always wondered why they never tried a tactical or strategy game. Most books in the Old Testament included stories that would make good scenarios for tactical games while much of Joshua could be adapted to a grand strategy game.
Same but it never happens
II is easily my least favorite of the first four Phantasy Star games. I found the dungeons much more annoying then the first game and felt the process of getting new party members sucked. Also there's a major points in the story I thought made no sense. And the ending was a good setup for a later game I thought but IMO neither III nor IV did a good job tying into it. One of III's endings did a little but I think there should have been a much better explanation of the aftermath, and there were some interesting directions they could have gone from the ending that got ignored (IV takes place a thousand years after this while III takes place a thousand years after IV)
I did not beat the last boss in the game 😅 kept dying at the time. I remembered what happened to Nei made me sad..
wild, just yesterday I was thinking of Phantasy Star 1 and 2 and then I saw your vid about the 1st one; now this comes out -- it seems the universe wants me playing Phantasy Star lol -- great videos, easy sub.
Thanks. They are amazing games.
he does look a bit nudu, doesn't he "no ma'am, those are just flesh colored clothes"
Haha
Faxanadu had great music and tunes. This was a game where you thought only you and a few others played. Then you come to find out LOTS of people have played it. Great review. Hope more people will play this great game after watching this review.
also: cameo from bill murray as a smoking shopkeeper.
Thank you.
Haha
I absolutely love that theme music!
One of the best
my first ever JRPG (outside of pokemon) and still my favorite till this day.. also one of the best soundtracks that still makes me cry till this day
One of the best
I LOVED this game. I played it on my Genesis with the Master System adapter. I never finished it... I now have it on my Switch but haven't played it (angry at myself for not playing)
My all-time fave Saturn game ❤
I love this gamę, but you tell nothing abut IT downs
This is my most favorite game of all time. It's simply incredible! The amount of stuff you can do in this game is mind boggling when you take into account it was released in 1994! How they were able to cram all that content and amazing music into a few MBs is such an achievement. Music is some of the best on the system. I still hum the music from this game by heart. The tunes just grab on to you and never lets go. Though the biggest downside is the graphics. A game of this magnitude back in 1994, there was gonna be some compromises. So it isn't as pretty as other games on the system. So don't judge the game based on it's looks. Judge it by it's content. Sadly this game didn't sell enough in the west to garner offshoots and sequels like in Japan. So it's either get this game on the SNES(Best Version), Genesis, or PC. It was also released on the Virtual Console for the WiiU but since it's closure, it's impossible to grab now legally. I implore you. If you missed out on this fantastic hidden gem on the SNES. Go grab a copy or emulate it and give it a shot. You may just end up loving this game like some of us have.
I grew up with the PC version and loved it. Such an amazing game.
Great video, SOR2 one of my favourite games of all time
Thank you
what a stupid video lol Who wrote that a script????? 😂
