Not too sure about the “upgrade” phrase. Slotted is ok, but drilled is no bueno 👎🏼 This takes mass away from the rotor which is allowing for more heat absorption.

My Subaru has a ej25 block with 2.0 heads crower cams non variable valve timing a Garret gtx3076r and all v band exhaust flanges. All supporting mods to make 450whp easily. It's been a fun car but I never pushed it past 10lbs of boost and it turned into my daily for like 3 years. So much for a track car but it was really fun to build and even more fun to drive. Problem is I live in south Texas and we have emissions testing for cars newer than 25 years old. Bullshit. I can't find anyone to pass my car because it won't legitimately pass and I'm tired of having this sit here. It's been 6 months. Someone needs to drive my Subaru 😂

I'm selling my 03 WRX race car and my 98 r50 pathfinder. When they are both gone I'm getting an rx7. Best case scenario I find a clean FB that doesn't need any body or paint or interior work. I'm going to rebuild the engine and put a clutch in it immediately and then do all the chassis and suspension bushings. I built my WRX my self it's a work of art. I love anything cool and different with cars. I'm a Jdm head but I love everything. From lowriders to Ferraris. Motorcycles planes boats. If it has an engine I'm a fan 😂. But you can't much cooler or different than a na carburated rx7 with a manual trans. I plan after the rebuild to do a Holley sniper efi setup and make it slightly resto mod ultra reliable 80s car❤ long term plans are to own a car that will show my son why I love what I do so much. Maybe he will want to join the Motorhead club someday. At age 3 he currently loves hot wheels trucks tractors and bikes. We're off to a good start.

Nice job bringing it back to life!!! Not that you asked for any advice but I find it very beneficial to completely clean the engine before starting any repairs outside first then internals. Air filter fuel tank/lines complete carb electrical and so on. Also instantly addressing/repairing any issues that pop up as soon as they happen the issues will only get worse the pull starter for example. Take care!!! 👍🏻👍🏻

So I wanted to confirm, the intake cam gear on top with about 7 notches is the JDM gear right? And the bottom one is the US model?

So if I got a jdm ej205 long block and putting everything from the usdm one onto the long block will it be a straight forward swap?

Is the fuel pump the same between usdm to jdm ej205?

I know this is old and I'm a little late but there's a trick in doing body work okay first you want to hit it the car panel with a light so you make sure that you fill in the whole area with Bondo that you need second is that you need to work the Bondo before it gets completely hard so if you can run your back of your fingernails on the back side of Bondo and it leaves white lines give it just a few more seconds to cure and hit it with 40 grit and stay in 40 grit to shape the car it cuts faster and straighter people make the mistake trying to get to 180 as fast as they can and then it takes some longer or they let it dry too hard and it takes them all day to do one spot you should have used durabond on direct metal but as long as there's not going to be any holes that you're feeling in Bondo should be fine as long as it's not real deep Bondo is porous and will absorb water so durabond technically is better for like a pinhole or area that you're trying to seal like a floor pan maybe third you should try you always use a block that way you're not putting the finger grooves into your paint as you sand because your pain on the finished product will come out real wavy get yourself an 8-in block and a small block typically 40 grit sandpaper 80 grit sandpaper and then go to 180 should be able to paint at 180 you can use a guide coat at 180 or after primer which is a light dusting with black spray paint to get it down flat and you'll see all your low spots we'll still have black paint in it as you sand and I would do the same thing after primer for your wet sanding if you want something to go really flat and smooth and get all the orange peel out a good paint job is all prep painting is easy

Did you own and drive the car when it had the prior USDM EJ205? Just wondering if the JDM EJ205 ran the same if not better with the AVCS not hooked up? Did you use the original US turbo or switch to JDM turbo? Did Boost come on at same time between both engines? We need a replacement engine for our 2005 WRX. Debating on a JDM Non AVCS vs with AVCS. The AVCS engines are newer but rather not shell out more money to install the AVCS... Thanks

If your still looking for a motor I could send over a 343 that I got out of a javelin or a 401 that is just sitting here. Better to see them used rather than to watch them rust.

Eep it cheap and simple, at least first. A ford 302 with a 5 speed will make a good, easy and reliable car. Somewat economy on the gas, and drive it as often as you can...

We’re building a 304 for my sons car. We just made a 7 hour round trip to get a 3 speed manual transmission and a 4bbl intake. It’ll make enough power to be fun for him and it’ll definitely do burnouts. Amc parts are out there. Join the forum and the smc Facebook groups. That’s how we’ve found everything for ours. Same with my 58 Studebaker. Facebook groups and the forums are your best friends.

Keep it amc!!! Go with the 258 or get a 4.0 jeep motor. No LS, and definitely NO FOREIGN MOTORS in an American Motors car.. you can do a Clifford 6=8 kit on the 258 and it’ll have good power and be all amc

My son just did his dash. We used the duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint and it worked beautifully. We’ve still gotta do the package tray

I didn’t watch the entire video till the end but since then I can answer that we do indeed have a spare 360 that we yanked out of a j10 with a T5 transmission but I would say the motor probably needs to be rebuilt and sent to the machine shop but it hasn’t been taken apart and instead sits in the back of our shop waiting on a future project but I hope y’all have fun with your project and good luck.

My cj7 had a 258 in it for the longest time so I improved it with headers, Holley 4 barrel and a edelbrock carb but it would definitely take hills like a champ. I would suggest putting an amc motor in an amc car but it’s your choice. But if you get the chance put a 304 or 360 in there and it will have a nicer performance. Your car should have enough space for a big block considering everything was optional back in the day including bigger motors.

Hello! nice project. A 1970 Gremlin is very rare even in the Gremlin world. Those interior arm rest for one are a one year only part. The arm rest is actually the same as a 1969 Rambler American. So keep that in mind. Just because you find another Gremlin or Gremlin parts, doesn't mean it will fit your 1970. Your seats are in excellent shape. Hard to find a seat that nice. Some one has already made several changes to your car. I see the fenders have been replaced or the gremlin "man" on the fender was deleted. Do you research before you take too much apart.

Looks great. I'd still wear a respirator when you're using a hardener even if brushing it on, those isocyanates are bad for you.

My very first car was a 1976 Gremlin Orange and black interior and I bought it from the original owner in 1980 when I was 16. It had a 360 V8 and can't tell you how many rear tires I went through . We live in Torrance CA. 7 mils. from the beach . I bought a 9 ft. Orange Surf board to match it and it was longer than the car . HOT TIP .. Change out the rear end to either a limited slip or posy track and rear sway bar because it come with a dead leg and sucks when taking off or going around corners . Hot tip 2 .. Look into new seals because thy always leak and vibrate and alternate hinges for rear hatch [ Maybe do a search ON Lexus , VW , and Toyota for hinge and or electric hydraulic lifts . Good luck on your build .
