    Beautiful guitar. I am pretty sure that is a bookmatched (2 piece) top and a bookmatched 2 piece back as well, but may be a 4 piece that Taylor likes to do. it is masterfully put together though. Cheers!

      Thanks for your comment and complement. it is definitely the right guitar for me. It makes me smile every time I look at it and play it. You’re correct. It’s definitely book matched, but it’s really well done. I still love the guitar. Sometimes I’ll go to a couple of my local guitar stores and try out other Taylors, Martins, Guild, Yamaha, Fender. and Ibanez and what ever the other brands they have, this one is still my favorite for combination of sound and playability.

    my hack is.. use rubber band, wait! it's a special type of knot! i promise your ears won't hurt so only the tension is on the airpods themselves you won't even feel the rubber band at all.. find a rubberband, put an airpod through and let it hang.. (do a bowline) fold a simple p on one singular string, then flip like a coin the simple p like .. pull out that line through the p and stretch and tighten the bigger hole, hang the bigger hole up around and below onto your ear (I only discovered this a few minutes ago!) I'm not sure why not many people have thought this up yet 👌

    The sound of this guitar reminds me my Koa version. Spectacular choice! The dynamic range, articulation and accuracy of Taylor's instruments In general (and your guitar in particular) it's just out of this world! There's nothing quite like it on the market. Other brands are not on the same level IMHO. So be happy and keep what you already have and maybe just get a second guitar e.g. More fatty - Taylor 324ce Mahogany || More mellow - Taylor 724ce Koa || More Boomy - Taylor 618e Spruce Top (Maple Back and Sides). Or just change the thickness of your guitar pick and the way you're playing to get it sound the way you want. I think you got yourself an incredible instrument right there!

It has a good rich sound with the Taylor brightness . . perfect for me.

Too late now so it's a non issue. Either way, I don't regret getting a Taylor. I think I got more guitar for my money. Deciding between a K24 and a 724CE is a tough decision. And now they have the new Koa 724CE. You just have to play them and see what you think. If you are near a Guitar Center I can say that I had a wonderful experience with them. No problems buying a guitar, playing it a week or so and then exchanging it if I wasn't happy with it .... amazing. Best of luck to you as you decide, let me know the outcome.

    I have always shopped my guitars from the same shop for decades and when i decided to go to a high-end guitar i went in hell bent on leaving with a Martin D-28. I ended up with a Taylor 414ce which i upped to a Taylor 814ce a few years later, at no point have i regretted this decision. The Taylor has the brightness of tone, and a well defined low end i prefer. I would like to remove the pick guard but i'm not sure how long Paul has had the instrument in his inventory, that being said it's a real wood pick guard and i have recently started playing with a pick a little more so i'll leave it alone. When it comes to Travis picking or hybrid picking i thing Taylor takes the prize.

    The timing is good on this. I just got back from visiting my daughter in Nashville yesterday, and I stopped back in their GC to see if they had any of these. They did and I really enjoyed playing it. I'm thinking some time I may bring in my 2020 714 with the Lutz top to compare how they sound. But I really do like this walnut 714. I think I'm glad you changed the strings back. On your previous video I thought it was pretty creative to put on the Martin strings to get a richer sound but I do think - as well as you can tell on a CZcams video - that the elixers do sound a little better. I do like the Taylor "clarity" and I think you get a little more of that sound this way. I like the gold tuners. I've got a 2002 714 and it has gold Grover tuners - which do look good I think - and work well. And a passing thought - I like the look without the pickguard on this guitar because of the beauty of the wood. Even though I've played a long time and think I don't beat my guitars up too much - I do notice light wear or marking on my pickguards. You could try a clear guard that would offer some protection and maybe not hide the wood too much. Enjoyed the video and love the guitar! . . . also meant to mention you can play with your tone by trying different picks. I ordered an assortment when I got my 2020 and ended up using a medium gauge pick, and my favorite is a Fender that has the rubber cover made over the top of the pick so it doesn't shift in my hand so much. Otherwise around a .96mm sounded best to me.

      @robertphillips4155 Před 2 lety

      @Ron Chappell good to hear from you again. Thanks for sharing your experience, thoughts, and complement. I agree regarding the pick guard. I've ordered a custom walnut pick guard from Bob's Customer Plates (www.bobscustomplates.com/). It just shipped so I'm not sure what it will look like but the picture he sent me of the piece of wood that he was going to use looks great. A lot of textures and warm colors. I'm excited to see what it looks like. You are absolutely correct regarding different picks. The material and thickness all effect the tone. I've got a bag full of different picks, thick and thin wood ones, plastic, nylon, etc. My current favorite is the Jim Dunlop .60. I also like the Riversong .46 wood pick. If I'm practicing scales or jamming on lead I like a stiffer one, maybe .80.

    I really enjoyed your video. I'm a Taylor 714 guy - and it's surprising how your assessment of these guitars matches my own opinions. I've got a 2020 714 that I've really enjoyed, and also ended up buying a 2002 714 that still plays great and offers a little more mature tone. It's odd how I go back and forth on which one I really prefer the tone of. The new one with the v-class bracing I do think is more articulate than the older one. I also played the model you got at Guitar Center, and I have to say that I absolutely loved it. Had it been available when I got my 2020 I very well might have purchased it had I had the chance to play the two side-by-side. And, your video struck me in that I also made my new purchase following the passing of my mother who was probably my lead into music. Anyway, congrats on your new guitar. @Ron Chappell thanks for your comments and input. It's a sweet guitar. A little more mellow than the typical Taylor due to the all walnut construction. Regarding the Fat Boy, It's a sweet ride. During the hot summer days that engine sure puts out a lot of heat sitting at a traffic light! Those Roadglides are very smooth.

    I wasted hours comparing these two hoping to make the right choice. I hoped the Sonys' bass would really punch me up but they sound 'quiet' even on full blast. You want the bass drop to rattle you but they're only headphones. Not because they're quiet (they're not) but that headphone feeling is nothing like listening to music through speakers. I enjoy music 100x more even through a £30 set of 2.1 Logitechs than any of these headphones. I wasted a lot of time for no reason on this Bose v Sony debate. I tried them and I didn't even understand when noise cancelling was on or off because the app seemed to show it off but there was still some weirdness coming through the earpiece. I'm clearly not the right person for this malarky. I just wanted to listen to music properly and not wake my baby up and I stumbled upon this high-tech world of totally useless features (for me). If you aren't like me and you actually want noise cancelling headphones, pick the Bose. Why? They are way more comfortable. And what Sony's make up for in sound quality and app-features really isn't enough to make it worth the sweaty ears because as I said, they're only headphones. They're not gonna blow your head off. Not the Boses, not the Sonys. I enjoyed my time in this world of meaningless (to me) debate but I'll stick to my Logitechs and my apple ear pods which are good enough quality don't make my ears sweat and don't cost half my rent.

    I think it's funny that avoiding taking off the tank seemed to be more of a pain than taking the tank off. Only takes a couple mins.

      Thanks for the comment. I couldn’t figure out how to get it off without getting gasoline all over everything and possibly breaking hoses. Maybe you can do a video on removing the tank.?

    Comfort is my thing. You can't beat the QC35 for Comfort. Flew to Europe from Australia, 22 hours I had those things on my head with no problems at all, so comfortable and I was just in my own little world the whole time. Makes a huge difference.
