      The flex isn't as noticeable as I had hoped for. I mean, it's not like I'm able to ride an extra hour due to increased comfort. I do feel and prefer the difference over the rigid aluminum pedals, though. So far, no complaints, and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase them again for my next wheel, still to be determined.

    Hey Mike. Is that your home garage workshop or is that at your business? Very impressive. I also see you string tennis racquets! Same here. So i picked up that Roto adaptor pad and was wondering how you adhere it to the wheel? The backing is smooth rubber and the velcro does not stick well. Thinking of spray some 3M glue and waiting til it’s tacky then trying the velcro. Maybe have to rough up the rubber with sandpaper first? Thoughts?

    • @thewhlchrguy
      @thewhlchrguy Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks! Serves both, my home away from home. So, I have never had a problem with getting tapes or hook and loops to adhere to the roho product. You'll just want to wipe it clean with rubbing alcohol for best adhesion. The challenge is the V11 saddle area, it's made of a funky foam rubber that won't let anything adhere very well. I'm using a 3M VHB double-sided tape that has held for a long time now. It's not like a permanent strong type of mount (I could peel it off easy enough without too much effort), but it does the job. Very important, though, you'll need to wipe that area well with rubbing alcohol. You want to take the shine off the surface, which is what you want. You can also use 3M primer 94. Comes in pints, get it from Amazon. That'll provide best possible prep for getting tapes to stick to difficult surfaces as well. Good luck.

    Great concise review and will be purchasing these soon. As a newbie and about to purchase a secondhand V11, what protective products do you recommend I install to somewhat save the EUC from looking trashed while I am learning? I've seen folks do some crazy foam and pool floaty type wraps with duct tape but i'd prefer to make it look a little classier than that! thanks in advance.

    • @thewhlchrguy
      @thewhlchrguy Před 7 měsíci

      Thank you! I never used any protective devices other than on my body 😃 when learning how to ride this wheel. I did scratch up the plastic around the headlight but never broke anything. I would advise riding on a soft surface initially until you can maneuver comfortably and get on and off the wheel in a controlled way, using both sides/legs before moving onto asphalt. Smooth dry uniform lawn or outdoor rubber running track surface. This way, when you fall, the wheel doesn't take a beating. Or your body 😜. Enjoy!

    Great video! When you release the linear tensioner after clamping, the clamps seem to move back a little. Seems like they have a little give. Doesn’t that reduce the overall tension?

    • @thewhlchrguy
      @thewhlchrguy Před 11 měsíci

      The drawback you're referring to would be common in almost any machine, at least under the 6,000 dollar price point. Some of this is flex in the base clamp and some is the natural tolerance in the vertical telescopic clamp post that goes up and down. Most of this will be recovered on the next proceeding pull. All of it? I doubt it, but it is inherent in all of the machines that I'm aware of. I've never had the privilege of stringing on a high-end Babalot or Yonex machine like in the 10,000 to 12,000 price range. I'd be interested myself to know whether the clamp base and the clamp post have zero tolerance to eliminate this drawback entirely. Maybe somebody out there that's had the experience on a 10,000 plus dollar machines would have an answer to this question?

    • @clubprodigyny
      @clubprodigyny Před 11 měsíci

      @@thewhlchrguy Thank you for your reply. I've been reading more about it, and some do indeed claim that most will be recovered at the next pull. Logically after a few of these tension could drop, and I think the solution could simply be to increase the tension by 1 or 2 lbs to compensate for this effect during the stringing process. I was considering a Pro Stringer which has flying clamps, which would likely have an even bigger drawback effect. I'm simply planning on playing with the tension to compensate... I don't have the space nor the money for a $6k+ machine. 😛

    I did the similiar, but to the honeycomb pedals at the point they touch the brackets. The angle was killing my ankles as well. I used a file. That method is a little less precise than yours. I used an angle finder to make sure both pedals were the same. I used some calipers to scribe a "file to" line. Took a small of material off both and tried it. Nope. I opened the calipers a couple off mill more to scribe a new line and removed more material. Yes. It worked out. I was comfortable with about 8 degrees lower. Made a huge difference in comfortability which increases ride time. I would say it did not effect the structural integrity. Im 250lb and have 5000km on the V11 and there was no sign a structural rigidity loss. If you ask me those honeycomb pedals are over built. Your V11 looks good and I can tell you have excellent crafstmanship.

      @user-lw6sp5pk1y Před 4 měsíci

      @thaer12345 I would say the shiny filed line was an 8th of inch wide. It wasn't much at all. If you're filling without some way to check the angle, file a little at a time. You will have to do more fitment procedures to see what feels good to you. I have over 5k miles on the same pedals, same brackets. At some point, i did get new pins. Im assuming you have the V11.

      Okay, so I started out with 12" x 12" plates 1/8" thick so that I'd have enough space to move my power pads around and experiment with the ideal location for me! I'd recommend that you do the same since we are likely different sizes and weight. For reference I weigh 145 pds, 5' - 10". After a few weeks of dialing in my pads location, I took everything apart and trimmed down my plates to the following, R to L bottom 10-1/4", R to L top 9", top to bottom is 11-3/8", so the toe box section would be 2-3/8" top to bottom, and 1-1/4" to the front. Hope this helps. Good luck. But like I say, I'd start with oversized and then trim them down later once you're certain that they suit you perfectly.
