The LL's is nice, but the only thing prevented me buying these, they're jumbo body, not a dread. Too big for my taste
Excellent Man
Do you happen to have your timepiece's model number or reference number? I recently picked up one that looks quite similar. but with the full metal bracelet
Unfortunately not, as watch long since sold however, I note on the caseback in the video it says 4226004 so I dont know if that's was the watch model number or serial number.
Hello, where can I buy this guitar? Thank you.
Only on the used market but they come up rarely. You cant buy it new as the 60's Baja tele was discontinued 5 years ago by Fender.
Were the necks the same thickness on the cv 50s and custom?
Yes but the guitars featured were all models that were made over 10 years ago, so I cant vouch to whether modern CV models are the same.
Also EY-60 EH.
There is one on Reverb at the moment never seen than model before reverb.com/uk/item/47181663-vintage-ey-60e-sunburst-hollowbody-electric-guitar
I found it! Model EY80EH !
Hi, I'm looking for a small bodied jazz archtop they did. Usually tobacco sunburst. Some may have been natural. It was available with either just a peizo under saddle, or with that plus a humbucker by the neck with a blender control. It was a single cutaway. Cheers and many thanks.
The Vintage model you are after is know as the VSA575 they are like hens teeth I use to have one regret selling it czcams.com/video/MvW_Pvrzqz8/video.html
Hi Tony, It's not that one, that is a Gibson 175 type. It was smaller, the cutaway was rounded and it had abalone binding. It wasn't really a copy of anything I know. Was quite unique. Ill keep looking. Cheers though.
You need to go online and check previous catalogues because without knowing the model number it will be incredibly difficult to locate a 2nd hand example as I'm not familar with the guitar you describe so I suspect its a discontinued model.
A little rough to tell sound differences. You played better on the FG
The Tuners were put on upside down by some idiot at the factory. The guitar when sold new was probably therefore sold as B stock when first purchased.
I have just purchased a Vintage VSA535 guitar with the pickup selector switch in the upper horn. The guitar has the early rounded headstock, large logo and Grover tuners. There is no serial number or sticker on the rear of the headstock. I believe that this instrument was made in Korea and have been advised that it could be a very early, possibly pre production model. With your wealth of knowledge of Vintage guitars, I would value your opinion regarding the unusual toggle switch position. Thanks. Excellent videos by the way.
Its one of two things its a pre production model as you comment, a design that Vintage decided not to go with (as I've never seen the selector switch in that position on the Korean and later Chinese/Vietnamese manufactured versions of this guitar) or it has been modded by a previous owner. However if that were the case you would be able to tell that the switch was in an earlier position. I think your proposition is probably right.
@@Edward1312Many thanks for your response, which is most appreciated. Not that I will be selling the guitar, but do you think that if it is a pre-production model, it will add value? There are no signs whatsoever that the guitar has been modded.
Forgot to ask, would you like to see some photos?
It will not add much to the value being a prototype its not a Gibson, JHS Vintage are not valuable in the market.
Would advise that you post these to the Vintage FB page or join if you are not a member. There are more experts there that can give you a much broader view on the guitar facebook.com/groups/thevintageplace/posts/10159332426301887/?comment_id=10159333935026887&reply_comment_id=10159334151536887¬if_id=1709589303434369¬if_t=group_comment_mention&locale=en_GB
Wow, I've been searching for one of these Mick Abrahams model SGs for ages without success. It's like the quest for the holy grail!! How did you manage to get yours?
Secondhand for £140 at my local cash converter in Slough. They are golden nuggets because most guitarists dont appreciate how good they are however, JHS stopped making them in 2014 and the production run only lasted 2 years so not many were ever made.
Thanks for that, great idea to look in pawn shops. I'll continue my search. You got a fantastic bargain there.
I've got the other two Icon SG models the Junior and the PAF version without the neck binding , picked them both up on FB marketplace. They come up from time to time you just need to keep your eyes peeled.
Do Mick Abrahams and Junior pickups sound the same?
No, the SG Junior style Icon has a stacked dog ear PU that sounds much more distorted than the two Pick up Special style SG (the Mick Abrahams signature model)
Sounds fantastic well played mate 💯 👏
Great guitars ive got one , i put a 1960s short flange vibrola on it 12- 54 strings ...sounds massive and holds tune really well....i see you have a burny les paul custom copy ....how does that compare to your vintage junior quality wise ?
Im gonna SLAP with it.
I had one of these for a while.. being a fan of Mick's and all. It's a very nice guitar sound wise and the neck plays great. I used it on a few Damned recordings too. Excellent guitar, if you see one snap it up.
Hi, Tony! Are you by any chance willing to sell your Sigma jumbo?
I sold it 3 years ago!
@@Edward1312Damn! :D With more recent models having awful micarta fingerboard+freatboard, old rosewood models are so hard to find.
Exactly I sold it to fund one of the Epiphone Inspired by Jumbos. Big mistake the Epiphone was all solid but wasnt in the same league sound wise as the laminated back and sides Sigma! They only made that original Sigma with Rosewood board for about 2-3 years ending production around 2018 due to CITIEs. The guy who bought that Sigma Jumbo off me was tuned in also to the fact that the original one version was far better that the current version with that Shite micarta man made rubbish alternative board and bridge.
@@Edward1312 What a shame! That new Epiphone J-200 Natural has awful toner, and often its fretboard and fingerboard look like campfire wood. Pickguard is meh. Old Sigma had gorgeous rosewood and probably perfect pickguards. I have an all-solid Sigma jumbo and solid-top with abalone purfling. Love both of them, but the micarta is such a piece of crap. I've had it for 10 months, and it's still oozing resin smell. And while it looks alright for a fretboard, as a bridge its bad, it's not black but dark-dark grey, and curves of the moustache bridge make it look plastic. My friend has Mexican Martin with richlite. That thing is jet-black and doesn't smell at all. Bridge looks almost indistinguishable from wood.
Sigma have been using Micarta since 2018 complete turn off for me primarily to save money, I've had plenty of AMI Sigmas over the years but stick to the rosewood versions but you havent been able to buy them new with Rosewood or Ebony since 2018 unless you go for the more expensive all solid versions.
It’s a shame somebody buy this shit
Its a great watch I love it!
Looks great.
looking to buy this guitar, is it for sale?
No, they are like gold dust and are a true golden nugget and as you are probably aware, long since discontinued.
I've got one of the older ones with P90s. It's great! Wahi' Valleys
the fg 830 is cheaper because it sounds cheaper, sorry folks but it does,,
If you can hear the Date switch over you got better hearing than me . I have one.
Can hardly hear anything you're saying!!
Bizarre!
@@Edward1312 How is that bizarre???
Nice video! from the defence ministry perspective it makes sence to issue cheap afordable, replaceable, but reliable and durable watches. With the exception of airforce and military divers watches, the simple field watch for infantry and ground forces can be issued with an afordable quartz in plastic case watch like casio, timex, Q&Q with 5-10Atm water resistance. actually it would be far more reliable accurate and durable than eny mechanical and automatic watch. i was served 18 months in a conscript army in Greece pre internet 1996, i was used 2 quartz afordable watches (could not aford enything better at the time) equivalent today with 12-20 euros. one that was a dress watch in gold tone colour on leather strap (lol) that i had from my civilian life, the other i purchased wile on the army a plastic one. both served me well, they droped from my hands 1-2 times and they not damaged at all, eny other mechanical watch would have issues later one. my first one despite was on leather strap i had it for 1 year and the strap hold well except for the summer were it wear alot becouse of aweat of my arm. was 5atm WR. when stoped and needed battery i decided to just replaced it becouse it was chromed plated and the case were having pitting, it was only aesthetic not functional. i am guessing and in WWII they had the same problems with military watches on leather straps. The other one was more suited for military life, plastic case and strap, 10Atm WR, served me for years and after my military life as my job watch. both were Q&Q brand, a sister company of citizen, something like the sekonda in UK, they were available everywere in greece. Sure you didnt have the strong lume of the expencive pure bread military watches, but i find it not to be problem. i dont think so the CWC G10 would offer much better in the army except for the lume hands. just my 2 cent opinion! also back then i dont think so enyone was heard of a military watch and their style, everyone was come to serve with their civilian watches, mostly quartz and electronics at the time.
Got the same, the one made between 2011 to 2013 with binding, W serial number and WIlkinson hardware and pickups, only mine is in ebony. I'd love to get my hands on cherry one as well, but there's no chance I'll ever find another 2011-2013 model. New ones with offset horns don't appeal to me. I've only changed the tone and volume knobs and installed Gotoh tailpiece, otherwise it is a truly great guitar that blows every Epiphone SG I've played.
I prefered the 6 string Hummingbird then the Frontier. Of course the 12 string is awesome in a class of its own, i just got one of the IBG's.
📌 pinned comment. Why are all my comments being censored? Again I have a 50's Baja telecaster.
The 60's version is a better guitar IMHO.
georgeous piece
I would have gotten the MWC vice the CWC if they had fixed bars. The Pulsar is a good alt to the CWC pilots watch and can be had on Ebay new old stock in the box for between $99 to $220 USD.
I have 1 love it
Dude put a coat on 🥶
man you are frizzing😅
Yeah it was absolutely freezing out their that morning
@@Edward1312 btw i bought the same watch and have amazing quality
I thought he needed a drink 😉
Why?
Something different
Thanks for the demo. The one im recieving is made in Indonesia, very good craftmanship by these folks.
looks great im just about to buy one of fb marketplace myself. How does it play?
Great, the appointments it comes with are not the best (especially the tuners) so since I shot this video I've upgraded the tuners to Kluson's and tailpiece to a Faber and bridge to a Gotoh which has taken it to a different level.
Nice watch I have the same.

……and the light on!
Hey Tony. Hope you are doing great. Asking you this little late coz this video is 1 year old. But i am confused between these three. In other videos i have seen hummingbird sounds great but here it fails in comparison. At times frontier sounds great but then excellente has its own appealing tonal quality. Considering everything what would you suggest?
Still have all 3, they are all great playing and sounding guitars. The Excellente has however, gone up 30% in price since I purchased it in Dec 2020 so if I was you I would go for the Frontier. Mainly because its a genuine reissue the Epiphone humingbird isnt and the Frontier has an unusual mixture of Maple and spruce that's gives you something less run of the mill sound wise IMHO. Would advise you go to sweetwater as you can pick your guitar or go into the shop because some of the indian Laurel fretboard wood is very grey whereas other batches are very rosewood like.
@@Edward1312 thanx for the reply. But if budget is not the problem then should I go for excellante. Or there is some other issue with it?
If you have the money go for the Excellente as it is finished the best out of all three. Sound wise there isnt a great deal in it between them.
@@Edward1312 thank you so much Tony. Sounds like a good friends advice. 😊
I have FG830, it is great but it is a bit too bulky for me, I would prefer smaller body for my next acoustic. I think LL6 and some beginning line Taylor are bit smaller in body shape, naturally they are more expensive. I f the size of FG830 is not the problem, I think it is great instrument.
Take a look at the Yamaha FS830.
I just got the FS830 and completely unplayable. Zero setup from Yamaha so ad at least $100 for a proper setup. Otherwise once I get it back I know I will love it.
The Yamaha FG 830 is a better intonation guitar than ANYTHING else on the market ..... For $350.00 .......... Hands down .
I think the FG850 sounds better. It's a subjective thing. The 850 may be a few sheckles more, but just a beautiful instrument. I own an LL16D, an LL16/12 and an FG820. about to bite the bullet on an FS850 to round out the collection.....
This guitar made in japan?
No China in 2008 but its very good and well made.
These 555's are still around, but becoming less common. Thanks for the info about a possible date-range of 2006/7 - 2012. Without any visible serial no.s there seems to be no real way to date them.
A large sized Vintage decal on the headstock (that goes nearly all the way across the headstock) and not having a Vintage badge in the sound hole are indicative of an early issue around 2007 when the VSA555 were first released in the format (style of headstock wavy top not round).
@@Edward1312 Ah - mine looks exactly like yours for the headstock and inlays, but it does have the VSA-555 label that's visible through the 'f hole. Thanks for the extra info - - you obviously know more than seems to appear anywhere on the web.
@@theverseshed If it has the badge in the sound hole and symmetrical horns then it could be made anytime between 2008-12. There is no info on the internet advise you join the Vintage FB group, JHS Vintage hardly ever reply to emails or any follow up service.
Nice video Tony. Thanks a lot. There is few video maybe the only one with this color dial. What do you think about this watch? Are you still wearing it? Could you please make an other video of this watch. Or maybe there is some pictures to see. I have some troubles to appreciate the blue color of the dial. Sometimes is lighter, sometimes different. Thanks a lot for your reply Best regards from France 😊
The white and black panda style dial is the most popular, from what I can make out on CZcams, the blue dial is not so popular I believe because its harder to make out the hands. All the colours and designs Sugess have now made available were produced originally by Zenith for the El Primero. The blue dial features in this video czcams.com/video/pdj0Ev2lbUM/video.html
@@Edward1312 thanks a lot for your reply. From your opinion, the blue color dial of the watch we can see in the video that you shared is a good representation of the real color in the hands? Best regards 😊
@@studioabfr Yes, my video is a good representation of the hands and the dial colour IMHO.
@@Edward1312 I'm sorry but I'm not a native english speaker. So I don't understand all your description in your video. But if I understand according to your comments, you don't like the watch? The color?
@@studioabfr I like the watch but I would purchase the white dial version instead of the blue dial as it hard to see the hands on the blue dial version.
Right on, I recently bought the exact same guitar (2017 rosewood as well, right before they converted to Pau Ferro). Question, I've read a few reviews on folks having issues with the S1 switch. Have you had any issues yourself? And overall, if you could go back would you buy this guitar again or would you have gone with something else?
Never had any problems with the S1 switch and I've previously had the 50's Baja as well that had it. IMHO this is the best value telecaster you can buy so no regrets in fact the only regrets I have is that I purchased the 50's before the 60's as the 60s is a better sounding, looking and playing guitar (the 60's neck profile is better than the 50's and the 60's has different PU configuration) than the 50's IMHO now I have owned both. In fact I sold the 50's to fund the purchase of the 60's.
@Edward1312 That's reassuring, thanks for the reply! I bought mine used a few weeks ago in pristine condition. A few reviews had me concerned over the S1 switch. I'd say that the majority of reviews are positive so I'm excited to keep playing and building my skills on this guitar
It looks in good shape for it's age. Isnt that a German brand ?
I also bought an Excalibur on email very much like the one on the far left. It's a nice looking watch. It's running fast again the moment but hopefully it'll settle down.
You can pick them up for peanuts.
I have the same watch but gold plated.
Very nice
