Fire Up The Fiddle is aimed to help fiddle players find footstompin' tunes and then learn by listening up to speed, then slowed down to help find the notes. Learning by ear is a really handy skill as a fiddle player, so I encourage you to do it as much as possible, although for anyone needing dots they are also downloadable from the Fire Up The Fiddle shop as PDF files. I'm a big believer in finding your own style and freedom within a tune, so for the most part of the tutorial videos I've just picked out the basic notes on the left hand to get you started. Once you've got the tunes down, play them round with the extended recording at the end of the videos, replay as many times as you need to get that fiddle fired up! When I was a teenager I spent hours listening to my favourite fiddle tunes on record, attempting to pick out the notes at full speed; it was challenging but worth it to add great tunes into my set!

Listen and learn! This is the first of three traditional tunes as heard in 'that scene' in the film, Titanic, when Jack and Rose join an Irish party in 3rd class. This tune is called 'The Blarney Pilgrim' which is a traditional folk tune, which I'm breaking down to help you find the notes. Once you've got the notes, try and play along to the full tune to pick up embellishments by ear - that's l...
Angeline The Baker - Footstompin fiddle tune - PLUS how to play
zhlédnutí 2,4KPřed 4 lety
Learn or just listen to footstompin' fiddle tunes with me, Will Page, front man of Noble Jacks! Hear the tune up to speed, then play along slowly seeing where your fingers go on the left hand. I've been playing the fiddle for 20 years, and throughout the tutorial series I am hand-picking tunes that, over the years, I've found get feet stomping at a session, open mic, campfire or festival! Hi Will! Thank you so much for this awesome tutorial!!
Amazing! I think you can do the same thing but with the cello
Well done! Thank you for breaking it down and then playing at dancing speed! And, I love your costume, too.
👏👏👏👏👍👍🫶🫶✌️❤️
I just discovered your channel. Love the way you show close up shots of the left hand finishing. Very helpful. Well done.
Not much good without notes,
Great stuff Will seriously "kick-ass"....greetings from Boston...as semi beginner fiddle player what program you use for your backing track....LOVE your style!
Fantastic
So you want to go to a real party? I don't know the steps, neither do I just go with the flow!
Whenever i try to play fast, i always end up cutting some of the notes a bit short because there doesn't seem time to fit them in and then the tune loses it's flow and sounds rushed. This happens especially where there are string crossings, do you have any tips on how i can work on this? ☺
Nice!🙂 from Uppsala Sweden
That's a no then☹
Thank you!!!!!!
Bonjour, c'est '' the kesh '' jig?

One of the best versions of this song that I've heard! You nailed it!

When the beat drops @ 5:50, you’re very talented young man. I could listen to this all day

Cool! Definitely gonna catch one of your shows when we get over the pandemic. Any chance of a bowing lesson on this tune coz your fast version seems quite different from your slow one?
Great tutorial! Is there Part 2?
This is amazing ! Thank you so much !
I stumbled across your channel bc I'm obsessed with the Titanic soundtrack and you are SO awesome!!! If you could do John Ryan's Polka that would make my day ^_^ SENDING LOVE FROM CANADA :D <3
I picked up a fiddle in July this year to learn this style of music . Very popular here in North Carolina ! Since I am your 71th subscriber ( the year I was born ) going to take it I am in the right place ! Hope to see the channel take off !!
The fact that this video has A class editing and this dude only has 61 subs is depressing
Thank you! You’ve brought music back in my life.
beautiful❤
This is great! Thank you. Your bowing hand looked sped up - you play incredibly fast and alas, I am some way off yet!
missKC19 thanks for your comment! See if you can work through the slowed down sections through the video; slow, then medium (and eventually fast!). If you read dots, you can download the music from my website to work through at your own pace, and please do feel free ask questions at any time :)
LOVE this Will, sounding great x
Thanks Gracee!
