Thanks for the video, mine started acting up after about a year, it would connect Bluetooth and play for a while then cut out, but now it doesn’t put out any sound. Any help would be appreciated
Thank you! I found that most infromative!
Wow - this is impressive! Great work, and perfectly presented. 144 hours? Was that total labour hours or 144 for each of you? Beautifully done either way :)
Thank you Richard. 144 hours of filming so all in probably 300 hours of labour 👍
@@SuffolkCraftsmen Cracking job guys - 300 hours very well spent - I'm really impressed. There are only a small handful of craftsmen who work to this level.
R u still planning on posting a video of the match 40 I believe u called it? I am modifying my spark and looking for more ideas. Thanks.
Can i ask how much you paid for she is a beauty
hi, good question. The final price, not including my labour was around £100,000 however that was a few years ago and I honestly dont think it could be built today for less than £140,000 😞
Great video very helpful,Im still trying to work out around the sky light area but very informative, I think having yacht experience is also critical and great to see it being done properly maximising on r values etc.The question I have is.Tecnology has moved on within the trade and im wondering if you think there is a better insulation product between the foam and outer board ,nowadays you would use. Thanks for the great video and what is a credit to yourselves.👍
Thanks for taking the time to write. I think the quilt is still the best way to go but better grades are available now, definitely worth looking at the breathable versions and go for as many layers in the quilt as you can. Good luck with the build!
Thank you for the brilliant video, and I hope you are both well and enjoying your boat.👍
Love it
My spark 40 has started to make a squelch noise everytime i switch it off any ideas on how to fix
All them do it return it
when is the next Video ? id love to take my spark apart and re house it with new speakers and a cab and maybe change some electronics to get a nice clear power section that does not have static or hiss. my new Boss Katana Air EX is extremely clear and no hiss just wish it had more bottom end like the spark . and it needs better Reverb and Delays as the ones it comes with are crap. The Boss Unit is overpriced if you ask me.
I didn't realise widebeams were that big. Now I'm wondering whether to stick with my plan to go for a Dutch Barge, since I'm guessing I can travel more of the canal in a widebeam. At the same time, I think I'd prefer a steering wheel and the ability to sail from inside a wheel house.
Plenty of room in a wide beam and probably more useable as it just one open space. You can have a wheel house on a wide beam! Wheel steering is no problem. However, there are a lot of wide beams on the canal network now and moorings are becoming scarce. Think about building a boat at 3m beam (10ft) and just under 60 ft… say 57 and you will have lower price moorings and access to more of the network! Need help with the build? Give me a shout.
One of my local pubs 😬. This used to be a great pub before Green King got their hands on it. Very rarely go there now as it changes managers about every 3 months and the experience varies from mediocre to awful with every new appointment.
I really should have read the reviews before I booked it!
2023 and still covering my hands in glitter. They dont come out and snap off easy with impact driver. Reduced in screwfix. They are only good for putting things together permanently with gloves on👍

Excellent , very easy and convenient explanation, but I still hope that I can solve my problem without disassembling. Have you noticed somewhere a memory back up battery?
Youd do a neater job using a syringe.
Can't believe he covered most of the windows!!! 😮
There is a story behind that. 😂
Hi. Good video! I had the same problem after less 2 years of hobby use. Metabo made the repair with the modificatet parts free of charge. Now three years after the repair, I experience the exact same problem. 😞
I had the same problem and metabo replaced the gearbox cover and height rod. I fitted It myself that was 3 years ago and with covid and a knee replacement, saw not used much and it has just done the same. The saw is a great bit of kit. It's just this part that let's the machine down.
hi, thanks for the comment. I am guessing the screw they sent was the same as the broken one, not the butress thread?
@@SuffolkCraftsmen it was the butress thred one.
That’s the first time I have heard of the buttress thread failing!!!
What do you think of the fret work? Is it ok or would you replace the frets?
Hi Jose, frets we’re fine, we’ll placed and solid. I did run a block over them and give them a polish and detailed the ends but no more than you would have to do with any neck.
Nice but how did you clean the excess? Thanks!
Great video, will be a big time saver for prospective buyers. Thank you
Thanks for the comment!
@@SuffolkCraftsmen I've added this saw to my "consider" do you mind telling me if the fence never aligns accurately or does it keep its parallel.
@@Sly_Wolf_1 Takes some setting up but once its there it stays accurate, for the price and considering its the sort of saw you can throw about, its great.
@@SuffolkCraftsmen thanks v much, have a nice weekend.
Love the video, very well explained. We recently bought a steel boat we want to insulate, so this was very helpful! I was wondering, do you also insulate everything below deck this way? Also is there no risk of condensation in the air gap, because I could see that result in mold etc?
Thanks for your comment. Yes I do insulate understand the floor as well, in fact I insulate everything! As long as there is an air gap condensation should be minimal if you get any at all. There is now a breathable version of the YBS Superquilt that I have not used but could be considered.
Same problem.....after only 1 year of use!!!
Sorry to hear that. Hope the video helps?
such a shame, the original screw tite screws were one of the best screws available because of the strength of the heads and then they added the under head spiral and serrations which severely weaken the heads. I also contacted the company about this and the splinter issue and got fobbed off by the bad batch free screws etc. All I really wanted is for them to be aware that this screw is not an improvement on their previous offering and may be harmful to their reputation. I suspect the underhead serrations and spirals are more to do with a cheaper manufacturing process or a marketing gimmick which they are attempting to pass off as an improvement. Abrupt changes in section and sharp corners create a stress concentration and weaken the product and these underhead spirals create this in spades as well as the nice sharp splinters. Hands up who has snapped a few of these heads off... if you drill down past the marketing reviews on screwfix you will find some interesting reviews. Probably most people who have had a bad experience wouldnt bother to leave a review or maybe their fingers were too sore to type!
Hi. Thanks for your comments, I did a part two to this, have you seen it? My conclusions are the same as yours but I’m sure if I left this vid in the screwfix reviews it would be deleted!
Thanks for the heads up. I can confirm that the TS 254-M has the new updated thread, at least mine does.
How much did you end up getting for it? It's a stunning fitout - timelapse of the process was great to watch! :)
i belive the idea of extra veneer is so you can make a matching headstock
👍 that’s what I did with it.
Just wear some gloves! It's not just screw tite that has metal splinters. They all have them.
I hate wearing gloves 🧤
@@SuffolkCraftsmen yeah, I do as well! But I hate metal splinters even more.
I am amazed with how beautiful it became. It looked like a guitar from the Gibson factory absolutely beautiful 😍 Speaking of Gibsons, I might build another LP hmm just wondering what finish or stain would be great. Any suggestions?
Great unboxing video Steven! Can you link me to the finished product's video? I love building LP's myself. Cheers!

that is one lovely boat you have got there. you say that it has underfloor heating and all the electrical goods how is everything powered do you have solar panels on the boat as well. the running cost must be big considering all the electrical goods going the fridge washing machine. how much is the running cost per month ect?
This should be a lot faster I think
Surprisingly good - and might save lives; well done.

Great bit of useful information. It is very important how manufacturers / dealrs respond, it looks like they responded the right way. Good video thanks for sharing.
Beautiful boat,good skills that man👌
Cheers Rob.
Thanks for the deatiled video! I am on buying ts254 one now
Hi, lovely job, really enjoyed these videos! I am looking into one of these kits although will likely be a project for next year. I just had a couple of queries I am hoping you can assist with, no worries if not! For a beginner to this type of thing, are there any stages where an error would be unfixable or is most of it reversible if you mess up? I was thinking I might get a little ukulele diy kit to practice the sanding & finish on before splashing the cash on one of these. On the cash side, not expecting you to divulge what you sold it for but would you say you get a better guitar than you would get if you just bought one from the shop for the price of a kit, workmanship allowing of course, or is it more a sense of satisfaction of making your own, doing your own finish etc? Thanks in advance, and well done again on a great job!
Go for it!
Any reasonable quality kit will go together fine, the Coban ones are nice. I don’t know if it’s commercial viable but it’s fun and you get out everything and more than you put in.
@@SuffolkCraftsmen Great thanks, think I will give it a go when I get my little work area sorted out, a nice incentive ha ha!
Many thanks 👍
Thanks for info just brought one luck mine has buttress thread. Pphhhew

Beautiful! Is she still available?
Hi yes, we have a lot of interest but no money on the table yet! 07522395666 if you want to discuss.
I have watched this video a few times. How are you doing in 2021? I had my surgery in September 2020 and can identify with some of the issues you refer to in your video.
Hi Alan, thanks for your comment. Its been an interesting 18 months since I sat down and made this video... I should, and will do an update video. Until then, the good news is I am still alive and mostly well. My health has stabilised as has my fitness, neither are where they were before I had surgery. I have also struggled with mental health, but more of that for a video in the near future. How are you?
@@SuffolkCraftsmen Hope you're still well and waking up breathing in the mornings. I know how you feel - as a fellow T3(a) 😏
@@derekgb3780 hi yeah! I’m still alive. I should post an update.. you know, life goes on???
I can’t believe your selling this
😁 we want to move to part of the network where the locks are 57ft so have a choice of sell it and build a new one or cut 3ft off it.
Have you any idea what you are looking at?
I have the exact same problem!
welcome to the club! I hope you now know how to fix it?
Metabo say that the update to the threaded rod was made in production June 2017. Serial numbers starting 706 have the modification. So 4yrs on all machines at the dealer shop should be ok.
There is no ts254 with serial number starting 706 - what is the full serial number?
I have just had the same problem resulting in metal splinters in my finger from lightly holding the screw as I drilled it in.
sorry to hear that Dermont, didnt get any response from the manufacturers in the end, they walked away from the problem.
I did a part 2, might be worth watching.
