Welcome to SINK or SWIM Garage. My passion is building ,buying, and bringing back to life" new and old cars ,regardless of make, model, or year. I try to challenge myself to learn to fix a variety of things. To me, this is a fun space where I get to leave behind the stresses of life. Working on cars also reminds me of my younger days with my dad, uncles family, and friends, which helps me to focus to live, love enjoy life, and what you have because you can't take anything with you.

You can run a .030 ring gap with no issues so if the bore is slightly os, check the piston clearance, you should be fine.
Awesome brother. Enjoyed hanging with you for a bit, sorry it was cut short for us this year. Looking forward to 2025, much work to do.

What would of been funny if the power went out and the booth deflated on a freshly painted car.
Don't think that would have been funny for anyone. But you do raise a valid point. Maybe a generator, if available, would be ideal. Thanks for watching
I'm considering the purchase of a paint booth so I though I'd stop by to see how it worked. Thanks!
My opinion it worked great. Just make sure you secure each tie down and adjust that fresh air inlet in the top of the wall. The only reason I had little dirt was because I kept going in and out due to 91 degrees that day. Part 3 I'll be painting the hood using the booth again, so I'll try to show better footage. Thanks for watching
@@sinkorswimgarage Thanks for the feedback.
50 mpg
The good old boys car
Still a ford
GREAT CAR, THE TRAILER IS HORRIBLE.
Lol thank you
@@sinkorswimgarage GOOD LUCK WITH THE CAR... GREAT STARTING POINT...
Looks good. I had a 71 Malibu and loved it. You didn't mention what gears you were going to put in the rearend? I think the buckets would be better but I guess you can only do what you have.
Running 355 gears. Thank you
These are one of my favorite cars too also grew up in it I wish I know where I can get one like that exactly like that
I agree, my friend, good Ole days, that's why I love driving it. Not to mention 35 miles to the gallon
It's coming along buddy! I can't wait to see it once it's polished up! I remember like it was yesterday racing a few of them on Telegraph back in high school. Keep up the great work and videos!
Appreciate you, buddy. Yes, sir, remember telegraph days and detroit on 16th and Jefferson Racing good Ole days.
PowerTour is a pretty good time, hopefully we have a week of good weather.
I'm definitely looking forward to it. I agree give us power tour people some nice weather.
@@sinkorswimgarage in 2022 the heat index was like 113deg in Nashville along with a 3 hour line to get inside the track. It was brutal lol
Wow, that's some heat right there. Buddy, you just motivated me to try everything to get that a/c lol duct tape zip ties, whatever it takes. Thank you 🤣
@@sinkorswimgarage AC? What’s that 😂😂😂. Three must haves big cooler, big hat, and a killer cooling system. Well maybe four, patience just for the traffic.
I'd probably run lowest comp and put turbo on it my.02
I agree. I went ahead with 64cc heads. Think it's around 10:1 so far on the test stand it's running on 93, but you know how that changes in the car driving around. Thanks for comment
I've gotta 72 400 out monte
Huge fan of the festiva, been on the hunt quite a while. Enjoyed this content, Great find. Keep us up to date.
Thank you most definitely.
Very knowledgeable about engines.
Mint
I hate to say this but your cylinders just have scratches in them. There is no crosshatch in those cylinders at all. OK may be 5 to 10°
I appreciate it. You're probably right. Had it bored 3 to 5 years ago, never took it out of that plastic, I'm hoping it will be okay. Seems machine shops are very busy now, so I'm gonna try it today to see if it runs. Thanks for watching
Is that a 511 block
Yes, sir, 511 block
@@sinkorswimgarage cool man I got one in my garage it's a 73 real clean motor hopefully be able to save up some money to do something with it I was thinking about a 421 or 377 I've seen some CZcams videos on some guys building some 421 out of the old 511 blocks making over 700 horsepower well hopefully everybody comes together with parts for you
Nice, good luck on your build when you get ready. Them old 400 motors are getting hard to come by anymore. Thank you. I appreciate it.
those festivas are amazingly reliable, great purchase!!
Thanks, it's a great car driving it a lot lately.
I never knew Ford made a 406 that's interesting.
Ford made a 406 so a ford 406 piston ring may your pistons
Cool project car! Reminds me of my 1985 suzuki forsa, so many memories....i love basic cheap manual car! I drive a kia rio hatch manual, it's the closest thing to those cars...
I agree with you these old manual cars are the best. Thank you
Can you advise where the inertia switch is in this car?
It's located inside the center roof
@@sinkorswimgarageyou sure about that?
Helpfull
Today's pump gasoline can only support around 9.5. to 1.... I'd go with a good set of AFR 195cc heads.
Thank you. Good luck to you and your son on camaro Build. Hope to see it one day.
Keep it up me and my son is building a 3 rd gen Camaro to hopefully go on power tour some day can’t wait to see what u do with the chevelle
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Looks like a fun project...I do love my 72 CHevelle.
