He wrote it when he was 16 and didn’t like it. It remained unfinished and unpublished until 1964 when it became a top 10 international hit. But the Beatles didn’t record it. #beatles #british #60s

Sometimes the ingredients of recording just don’t seem to catch on with an audience, but sometimes it’s pure magic. In any case, if the first recipe doesn’t work, keep trying new recipes until you find one that works. #motown #60s

This is the one song on The Beatles first album that clearly has an English accent. None of the others do.
Your video was interesting enough and I welcome your obvious enthusiasm even though your use of the present tense in describing events in the past is distressing! There are tenses available to do this. These include the perfect, imperfect, pluperfect.
Thanks for the view! The present tense mode is a theatrical device designed to create a first person view perspective for the listener rather than a third person narrative. It’s a mind thing.
Do You Want To Know A Secret was the fourth track on side 2 of the UK release of Please Please Me.
George's accent was very strong on this song. I like this song. It has a magical quality to it.
Should have been Paul McCartney and the Beatles. He was the talent.
In the Ballad of Jon and Yoko, the chorus originally had Christ, you know it ain't easy beginning line but radio air play cut the word Christ because of the way it was used
This made me smile. Ace for me.
I ❤ GEORGE! BEAUTIFUL SONG! 😍
Goy my 1st Beatles lp, Let it Be, in 3rd grade 1970. Rarely listen anymore because John was a socialist/athiest/commie and Paul is a wack-a- doodle vegan, who'll fire you for eating meat and is a narcissistic mench. Have so many orig lps, too. Frauds both.
The voice on the record is clearly Paul McCartney I don’t know what this guy is talking about when he said the song was written for George Harrison! Don’t believe the self-styled experts who will say anything to be on CZcams. What a flagrant misrepresentation. Anybody who knows Paul‘s voice can hear Paul singing this !!!
This song sucks. Love the Beatles but crappy song
sounds like most of their songs. Dare I say most overrated band of all time
Jerry Donahue of the Hellecasters taught me the picking! He loved Louie and Gerry McGee.
According to D.J & Scotty, they had never done Hound Dog with the 1/2 tempo ending. They just followed what Elvis did - and the rest is history.
Great old beatle info
Suggestion: tell the story of the Paul Anka song recorded by Buddy Holly but only released after his death. It Doesn't Matter Any More. Thanks, I enjoy your show.

Glad you enjoyed it, Jim! THANKS SO VERY MUCH for the view and kind words! Please help me to spread the love 💕 by sharing the channel and videos with your friends!!
and I prefer Bigsby vibratos, own two guitars that have them, my duo Jet and an Epiphone wildkat
I have never been able to master the use of one. I have a Godin XTsa and 2 PRS models with handles and I have never used them ! Thanks for watching!
Vibrato is pitch, Tremelo is volume(amplitude)...now on to the difference between flange and Phase..
Just recently found you. Your research and story-telling are terrific. You have a great, presence with true gravitas. I'll be back !
Welcome aboard! Thanks A MILLION for watching and for the kind words! I hope that you subscribed with notifications turned on!
I love Ace ❤
Wish there could be a real video for this show! Wonder if it is available - somewhere!!!
Hi Sandy! Search CZcams for Elvis Milton Berle
@@the_guitar_trooper I did just that and found the show with more than just Elvis and Hound Dog! It was great to watch and with everything that came after his part - Elvis was the rest of the show!
I love this song so much. Masterpiece.
I don’t know why but I’ve despised Milton Burke since I was a very little girl seeing him on TV in the 50s - never understood ( even to this day) why people laughed at him - but I do give him credit for realizing how great Elvis would be! Elvis was and will always be The King!
Berle was from the first generation of TV entertainers and physical comedy was his schtick. We got many entertainers from Vaudeville - Fanny Brice, The Three Stooges, Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, Red Skelton, and many others. They were a product of their time.
@@the_guitar_trooper I love all the comics you mentioned so,it isn’t the age thing - but there was something about Berle I didn’t like - his face, his mouth, don’t really know - I still don’t like him!!! I listen to Radio Classics on SXM radio and love the comedy shows of all kinds - I’m laughing out loud while I drive!!!
Milton Berle was as funny as a Mother's Day parade at an orphanage!
Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side"; some stations would play the whole song, some would play an edited version, and some wouldn't play it at all! I think that goofy song "They're Coming to Take Me Away" was banned, as well!
Thanks Gramps!
Ubetcha! Thanks for the view!!
So The Doors made millions (non U.K. royalties) while The Kinks made pennies. No wonder The Davis brothers don't get along anymore.
I thought this was a Muppet song.
Very interesting.
Thanks a MILLION for the view!! Please share the channel link and videos for me!!
My mom is a huge Elvis fan. I'm a child of the 60s but grew up listening to his music, along with Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, etc. I think it's funny what a big ruckus this caused. They acted like females had never lusted over male stars before this.🤣
Yeah. I think that TV saturation had a lot to do with it.
Saving the Milton Berle comment for the end of the video that is some well written and represented media for you my man. Also, you said and cock instead of Hancock just don't drop the tweezer!
Nice detail. It’s great you are preserving these detailed stories for future generations. Hope they’ll still be interested in years to come because this is where all the rebellious rock started to become mainstream. With “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana well surpassing a billion plays on YT, from one “old guy” to another, these stories deserve plenty of recognition regardless of how old they are due to their historical significance in the big picture of Rock and Roll.
Thanks for watching, Marty!
What about 'Christ You Know It Ain't Easy, They're Going To Crucify me'
The Beatles
Hello from England ~ I was a teenager at the time the Beatles hit the scene. Up until then the most popular songs were mainly solo artists. This radically changed as more and more groups followed in the wake of the Beatles. There was no other group like them! At one point the New Musical Express paper list all top-ten best selling records as Beatles songs (perhaps someone could verify that). The Beatles spearheaded the famous 'British Invasion' and encouraged other groups to follow. The Beach Boys from the 'good ole USA' were a fabulous group much loved and admired by me, who had their own unique style: 'Good Vibrations' was a particular favourite of mine.
Hi Stephen! WOW, Thanks for the GREAT POST and your view!!
Thanks!
Thank YOU for the view!!
I'm here supporting the Guitar Trooper, and if you remember something he doesn't then you're probably wrong.
Thanks! All said though - hey, I’m only human.
Title is just click bait. A shame since actual information given is interesting.
Sorry you feel that way, Cindy! I play the edge all the time trying to create a provocative title to pique interest without being a fan able of contents. I’m sorry that this one didn’t work for you.
Altogevver now...alltogevver now ..all...
When one hears a giddy song like this one , one realises how merveilleux the group was L
1. ELO 2. Beatles 3. Chuck This is the song that got me into ELO when it was released. ♥️
I can't follow what you're saying can you talk a little slower ???
That’s just me
That was incorrect. Murray Wilson was fired from the beach boys during the I get around session on April 2, 1964 not February 24, 1965. He had attended the session just to watch.
You’re right. He just didn’t know when to let go.
Sir, I just subscribed to your channel! I am 26, a lead vocalist, and we do songs from the 60s through Marc Valentine 2023! Good stuff, not elevator stuff! You have a very fascinating show. Where do you come from? Joey in Cleveland
Hi, Joey! And THANKS for the sub! I’m just an intense historian hobbyist. I have messed around with pop music history and guitars for years.
And so, the Leftist/cultural Marxists that control the majority of our television have brought us to the point of scantily clad females performers grabbing their genitals during a Super Bowl half-time show, and twerking their butts against the crotch of another female in a simulated lesbian sex act. I have to wonder what the mainstream folks of the 1950s and 1960s would have thought of that? This is first explanation of Elvis's moves that I've heard that attempts to explain them as being merely his movements to cover nervousness and shaking legs. I'm sorry but I'm not buying it.
Fascinating! Perfectly presented. Nice.
Thank you kindly, Daniel! Please share the channel and videos for me!!
Elvis was dubbed "Elvis the Pelvis" and "Wiggle Hips."
Yep
Weirdly, I remember a number of songs that sounded very similar at that time. And I even remember that scenario as a faint echo in my mind. I was just a little kid. I'm not surprised that McCartney gave away one of his songs. They are so fun to play on the guitar, even today.
He did because of the ties to Jane and his friendship with Peter. Also, neither he nor Lennon really cared for the song and Billy J. Kramer didn’t either. Part of Brian Epstein’s gig was to feed Lennon-McCartney compositions to other acts that he managed, which included Kramer.
