Always-Listening Devices and the Erosion of Privacy
As voice recognition, AI tools, and computers in general get faster and more powerful, there is an opportunity for individuals to have more control over these tools... Or less. The opportunities for use and misuse are both very tempting, and the consequences will be severe.

Gathering Intelligence with Inexpensive Optics
zhlédnutí 63KPřed 19 hodinami
In all of our past conversations about drones and radios, we've been circling the topic of gathering and communicating information. There are a lot of was to do observation with different optical devices, and here are a few real world tests of lenses and scopes for collecting data. Let us know in the comments what kinds of tests you want us to do at T.Rex Labs, and what other observational devi...
1500 Mile Targeted Contact with HF Radio
zhlédnutí 64KPřed 14 dny
It's easy to use handheld radio to talk over short distances, but what about hundreds or thousands of miles? Are the HF radio bands only for random contacts with ham hobbyists, or can we call specific people directly? We team up with TheTechPrepper and KM4ACK for a simulated emergency contact based on a pre-made comms plan, and test the limits of our skill and equipment.
Create Your Own Digital Library
zhlédnutí 57KPřed 21 dnem
Internet providers, cloud storage options, and social media algorithms are constantly changing, but now information itself is also in flux. Companies come and go, servers are offlined, even the world's biggest encyclopedia changes every second. Here is how you can develop your own digital library that is more stable and resilient. Let us know in the comments what you would include in your perso...
Drone Wars 5: Using Dedicated Military UAVs

Consumer drones being used on the battlefield have gotten a lot of attention recently, but military drones have years of use to learn from. We talk to a MARSOC drone operator about his experiences and observations.
Using ATAK for Urban Operations
zhlédnutí 88KPřed měsícem
Most ATAK conversations revolve around off-road use way out in the wilderness, but there are a lot of plug-ins and tools for urban use, and a lot of ways that you can use off-the-shelf stuff to start learning the platform. You can get all these files and pluging from the Play Store or tak.gov, and check out these channels for more detailed instructions: @S2Underground @thetaksyndicate6234 And s...
The War Against Entropy
zhlédnutí 104KPřed měsícem
Modern culture assumes a constant upward progression; that things just naturally get better and nicer and more technologically improved over time. The Second Law of Thermodynamics teaches the opposite; that order will descend into chaos and decay. So where does technological and cultural improvement come from? How do we get order out of chaos?

Terrain Association: How to Learn this Vital Land Nav Skill
i have discerned that we are absolutely screwed. all the smart people are evil and all the good people are stupid. hopefully im wrong and we will see mass noncompliance and nonadoption in the future but frankly i think most of us will be dying for israel and theres nothing to be done about it
Small drones will soon be a standard issue item for combat teams just like a rifle for the soldiers.
their prices are definitely aimed for military spendings
Free energy devices could be mostly used for non-evil methods...but they seem to all go missing and their inventors also seem to get unalived as well? Great movie choice....I was expecting some Snowden references as well...
cool
Always go for devices with no connectivity. Those with it may not be intended to be used against you originally, but can usually be turned to do so with a just a little update/malware. That includes vehicles.
Another cool option requires no lic... If under a certain wattage it is legal to own and operate your own AM or FM radio station. If set up right it can reach 1-5 miles and still be legal. You should still use acceptable fam language. Music Talk DJ Pirate
I was going to say I kinda like Google and leave. At least I don't have iPhones. Then I saw the first few seconds. This guy probably knows what I know. Pull your knife, quickly throw it at their sack/shack, then pull CC and degoogle them. Then he has the same pocket stuff as I do. And I saw a "specific key" and read the code immediately. Subscribed, sir.
I thought you were about to say prime and telephoto lol
How does American War Materiel get to Foreign Locations and How do they get Paid for? Same people that were loading up pallets of raw opium out of Bagram and got the FDC to approve Opiate Prescriptions for "Chronic Pain"... They just fly in-n-out at scale. (and oh, yeah, the Afghan Evac Event that Russia bought most of the Product) Nice rounded video, bad sync, just listen. I'm very interested in FOV for civilian/disaster support. Io9ked at ATAK then stepped away after reading a selection of the one star comments. The range was interesting with an equal number solid for 5 stars as 1 star. But what hit me was the same lame excuses from the ATAK curator. ATAK requires the standard Google Permission sets: make & receive calls, location, address book frequency of underwear change, etc. I can't believe the Military Version is that vulnerable. And by closed source software. So I'm thinking of building drones for Fire, Sheriff, SAR, First Responders, etc, all specific applications.
Isaac, Elon Musk has recently remarked that he's considering the prospect of creating an entirely new phone company, due to privacy issues. That would be absolutely epic. It's badly needed, obviously.
FED Phones…enjoy it if you’re dumb enough to fall for it.
It depends on who you are I would say for most people it would be wise to trust the Chinese spy product over the American spy product unless you have business secrets that can be stolen because it's harder for China to use your information against you unless they're ripping off your products. I don't recommend pulling at too many of those strings ignorance is bliss and once you realize the Republic has fallen you never get that bliss back.
No matter how many devices I buy even bought ones registered to another person they get in it in seconda using api sdk and broadcast receivers and FIDO services allows authentication remotely apple is the same using a couple of bundles mainly apple quick look extension UI and home kit for law enforcement

I was grabbed by a police officer that took me from my home to Duke hospital in Raleigh where they forcefully held me down and administered a catheter ever since I've been under surveillance and google labs symbol is showing no matter how many times I try to reach google FBI or CIA even the white house my interent is on an adhoc
Gentlemen!? How dare you assuming my gender?!
I've been looking into this same ability for a while. My findings so far are that quality glass for afocal photography (spotting scope, binoculars) makes a significant difference, although the results and ease of use still aren't ideal as you displayed here. Changing subjects and refocusing is a whole process too. I do not have the same eye box problems you do with your leupold, maybe try a washer as a space? Your results with refector lenses are consistent with what those in the photography world think as well. Just not clear enough to take advantage of the focal length. Side note, every reflector slr lens I've seen is catadioptric, meaning it uses lenses and mirrors, usually schmidt-cassegrain design. I bring this up because if you wanted to try and do long range LWIR/MWIR or analog nvd observation the glass will interfere with most of the ir spectrum. Nvd tube may still work but it depends on the coatings used. There are videos of homemade germanium eyepieces for LWIR imaging newtonian telescopes. I've always wanted to try doing the same but prime focus instead. (meaning just the telescope and exposed sensor) I have recently discovered the name for a class of camera called "superzoom." Which come in compact point and shoots, camcorder, and bridge form factors. Often significantly cheaper than just a comparable slr telephoto or zoom lens of similar focal length. I've seen poor performance from the compact ones, due to lack of adequate stabilization, but that was probably 10 years ago, and stabilization has come a *long* way since then. In this vein, I've been looking at trying out something like a Panasonic W580K or Nikon P950. If you converted their 35mm equivalent focal lengths to the "zoom" metric that scopes and binos use you'd get somewhere around 35x and 40x respectively (1766mm and 2000mm). This should be very close to the magnification of your spotting scope, I would be very curious to see a test done in the same manor with a "superzoom" camera to see if that is both more cost effective than the DSLR and clearer than the spotting scope. I'll go to best buy and test it myself but I'm not gonna put it on youtube. :P
Assuming somebody’s cracked one open and checked that the voice recorder actually doesn’t have any antennas on board I’d take that every day over a google product
the answer is "the device you control", not "the device that controls you".
For many, the oath is just a hurdle to a paycheck and pension.
LEAVE MY GREY CAMO CROCS OUT OF THIS, ISAAC!!
I've been in the tech industry in some way for about 20 years with a focus on enterprise size software solutions and I've recently worked for IBM, and taken several of their WatsonX AI courses, so I know a little bit. The only thing you can hope to do... the only realistic possibility... well, it comes down to 2 words. Before I tell you the only real solution, and before I give you any hope, you should know that this is something tech giants, and governments will go to extraordinary lengths to prevent. But tue only solution is Data Poisoning. They are going to collect that information on you. That's a done deal. But if you can add so much wrong data so their analytical tools can't make sense of it, well then they can't do what we're all afraid of them doing. The problem is, you have to poison the data of large amounts of people so you don't stick out. Now, they're are ways to do this which aren't as difficult or expensive as it sounds. However, who can you trust? You can't do it alone.

Great video!
It's a bit weird you think only dudes watch you. I think a few lady bois like you too.
Google analytics says it's about 98% regular dudes.
JS8Call for Android would be awesome!
This is incredibly short sighted. The only reason these systems have any effect in ukraine is that there is no abundance of power.
As a lifetime linux user I stuck with FOSS tools for translation/recognition
IMO one should think about their threat model: where the danger comes from for you personally. I would assume that for regular US citizen the threat comes from corporations exploiting ang abusing them. So you wouldn't care if Chinese listen. For government officials they would care about being blackmailed by foreign adversary. For activists -- they probably should fear their own government more then foreign ones.
- microphone muted - thank you - you're welcome 😂😂😂 Kinda proves the point it's still listening. If you want privacy -- switch breaking the circuit is the way to go
Lol @ crocs!
Oppressive governments always go down the path of surveillance, more and more and more, until they spend so much time, effort and money on that, that they have nothing left for anything else. Your elected officials have no control of this. None. The bureaucracy is out of control.
I loved the original idea of Google books. They were trying to make Babylon's library, digitalizing every piece of printed media, in every language, and make it available for everyone. But sadly, greedy publishers made sure it wouldn't happen.
Who would have ever thought a holster manufacturer can bring common sense, thoughtful analysis and wisdom back to the dark world of CZcams?!? Amazing channel and materials. Hope you add TLR2 to the line next!!! 🙏
There's no guarantee that the Chinese device isn't spying on you. Just because it's "offline" don't mean it doesn't try to phone home as soon as you plug it into your computer. Only way to really tell is to have the source code of the os and firmware of each component available on the PCB. Even then I still don't trust it. Would have to do long term isolation testing when plugging in the device into a computer. Listen to any outbound traffic to see if anything does try to reach out.
The pen is gray.
“Incredible discernment” are the two most important words in this video. Discernment is a skill that can and should be developed. Great video, Isaac! Especially loved the Alexa bit. 😉
What about using a standalone Dragon Dictate installation?
It was a solid program even back in the pre-pentium 486 days.
They must always listen to me especially being a former veteran whos always talking shit about the jeryiatric pres of ours theyre probably writing my shit i say down saying wow this is some good comedy lol
He should have finished the video with asking Alexa, if it is still not listening.
Stellar reviews my man!!!
CZcams hates freedom and deeply loves the tyrannical left

I believe I've identified a new logical fallacy in the wild. I see it on a regular basis. The "Computer says so" fallacy and it's rampant, invasive and viral. When you're forced to deal with someone who uses their computer first and brain second. There's no logic behind it no matter how much logic is in the computer

Thousand dollar range?? W the external battery charger the two extra batteries the charger comes with. The Beacon, and the remote your at over 2k. Just the base drone was $1200 w only the 2 batteries it comes w standard. You mentioned that in the middle of u putting this video together they announced they where discontinuing it. Odd they made that announcement in August of 2023. Also you don't have to have the bulky dual battery charger. You can charge the battery on the drone itself. With that said I did learn a bit about other abilities as far as the GPU which im starting to toy with Sucks they no longer make this Drone. If anyone wants one of these Drones you can find then used for 2k+
