I have no issues with your accent or any Haitian accents, but girl, stop freaking sound french. That I have issues with.

Haitians and Jamaicans are basically the same but different we are cousins. Sometimes we can't even tell the difference between each other...it's the accent that let's us know. Haitians have a soft Caribbean accent with French and African influences. Like Jessie Woo Jamaicans have a coarse Caribbean accident with African and English influences. Like Spice. Looks wise Jessie and Spice could pass for sisters or cousins.

Can't say Haitian accent isn't similar to West African. I think you mean anglophone West Africa (which even then depending on if you're speaking Cameroon/Ghana-they have heavy influence from surrounding Francophone West Africa and contributed some of the heaviest gene pool to the Greater Antilles). But you guys sound very similar to Togolese, Ivorian, Congolese*, Malians*, Senegalese*, Chadians-who also contributed to the overall gene pool. All have a similar spoken French and their own creole, I'd think Leoneans and Guineans sound the closest to you with the Lingala speaking Congolese, Wolof speaking Senegalese, and Bambarans in Mali. Cameroons sound very similar too because of Nigerian influence to North and French occupation (similar to all Francophone Africa) and Congolese neighbours. Also remember all our ancestors in the Caribbean originally came from West Africa and learned French/English/Spanish etc. in our former homeland and developed it in our current one today to be our creole/patois we have in modern times. You can't subtract the West African influence in the equation, some of the last indentured servants came to the islands only about a century ago.

Thanks for this. I'm not a native English speaker and, in very rare occasions, in my line of work, I come across people from different English speaking countries, and it seems I'm the only one in my workplace who speaks and understands a little bit, but in this opportunity it had to do with an Haitian who couldn't speak spanish at all. Your videos will help me, at least a little, to adapt my ear to the sound of this accent. Even Brittish english is hard for me to understand, although I've practiced it with CZcams videos and streamers, who are abundant.

This was very helpful, thank you. I worked with a Haitian man in Miami named Walter who drove furniture delivery trucks. He was a very hard man with the most incredible cheek bones I've ever seen. He was fair though, but was always getting picked on by the Jamaicans while the Cubans and Colombians just laughed at them all. Me, the white dude, could barely keep up with what was being said, lol.
