I think Sover took advantage of you. Fixed rate services should be just that. They should not double once the item has been received. This puts significant leverage over the customer. These types of bait and switch tactics are illegal for good reason in countries that have good consumer protection laws. On top of that I would be livid having been sent that DP1 he sent you. Yours was brassed beautifully - and him telling you he was going to discontinue working on your camera unless you continued to cough up dough? Give me a break. Local techs can repair f2s! This guy is not the only game in town despite what the internet tells you.

I got one of these Nikon F2 black body cameras and it comes with the 2 parts motor drives MD-1 and the MB-1 and also I comes with the DS-1 which fits on the left side of the camera and I need to get the camera repaired and I paid TOTAL £10.00 for the complete sets from a camera shop in London in 2023 and when I sale them all one day I can make from £300 to as much as £600

You have to love Sover. He maintained two F2 (black F2AS, chrome F2A) and one F for me (he usually does not do F unless you are a known customer who had him do an F2 before). And they all are perfect. Mine had been opened by „cowboys“ before, too. The really good thing about Sover is his management. With others you ask for a repair and they will tell you to send your stuff. Then your equipment gets into the queue at the date of delivery and might not be touched for two months until the backlog of cameras that had arrived earlier has been worked off. Sover puts you in the list when you contact him and he will message you a week or so before your camera is scheduled sichtbar you can send it in time. Might not be relevant in case it is broken. But I send my cameras every five to seven years for preventive maintenance and really like that they are gone for two weeks only. His picture documentaries are great, too. One has to keep in mind though that you do not do this to increase the value for sale. Sovers work is much more expensive than the actual value of a perfectly working F2. You have your camera „sobered“ not to sell it, but because you want to keep and use it.

I have my dad's 69 F and 50 1.4 Nikkor that he bought new to take pictures of me before I was born in 1970. His appreciation of Nikon and Panasonic started when he visited Tokyo and Seoul on leave as a radio operator in the Korean war from '52 to '54. It rubbed off on me as I've had several F3 HPs, F4s, 2 F5s and now a D5 and D850. I'm considering a Z9, but honestly, my Galaxy S22 Ultra takes such amazing pictures, it's hard to justify another 6k for a body. I've shot with a couple F2s and they were so good. As usual, everything old is new again and film cameras are making a comeback. Congrats on your amazing camera.

I guess I was lucky. Sover coached me on what to look for picking an F2 off of ebay. Answered every question I had for him. I got a pristine looking F2 from Japan, have had it for 7 years and though I don't shoot with it much, it's always been great, no problems. He told me to just keep using it as long as it worked. I do have the DE-1 meterless version though- makes things a little simpler.
