Understanding Ideology: A First Step Towards Better Dialog
"Left" vs. "Right." "Us" vs. "Them." "Cancel culture." Social media "blocking" and "shadow banning." With every passing day, it seems as a society we're becoming more and more divided, and even seemingly actively encouraged to "hate" anyone that thinks differently than we do, or that expresses a different value-set, or political ideology than we do.
Regardless of who we are - conservative/liberal, hunter/non-hunter - if we don't strive to understand how individual, and/or collective, ideologies influence the way that the people we interact with on a daily basis think, we're doomed to fail in effective communication. In this video, Part One of a much larger discussion to come, Chris goes over some of his thoughts on how:
1) He visualizes how different ideologies relate to one another;
2) How ideologies might be distributed across individuals throughout society;
3) How/Where individuals may find themselves within Chris's conceptional model of an ideological framework (Chris's "color wheel" of the "ideological spectrum"); and
4) The influence of, and interplay between, individual personality (as related to the Big 5 personality traits) and life experiences on how individual (and collective) ideologies come to be.
Qualifications right up front: Chris is not a clinical psychologist, and he makes no assertion that his opinions expressed here are statistically "right" from a scientific, peer-reviewed, standpoint. This is simply Chris explaining how HE visualizes the ideological spectrum, based on his direct experience with diverse publics/individuals and their ideologies, and what he has learned over the years from folks like Thomas Sowell, Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, Eric and Bret Weinstein, and others.
This video is the "relevant" body of discussion that was previously released to the paid subscribers of www.RoeHuntingResources.com in the early part of 2021, but then released to the public in the early fall of 2021, due to the relevance to current events - and the resulting dialog around them - and subsequent discussions led by Chris Roe within the RHR Podcast, and other Podcasts he was subsequently a part of. While this was uploaded to CZcams for the benefit of RHR Podcast listeners - an audience which is largely made up of passionate, ethical hunters - it is my hope that ANYONE who chooses to watch this learns from it, and finds value in it.
If you'd prefer to skip the introduction and reason for this discussion, feel free to jump to minute 18:39 of the video.

Deer vs Turkey Food Plots; Wind Considerations Are Different!
zhlédnutí 261Před 5 lety
Both deer and turkeys love cool season plots, and they can be extremely important for both. However, when considering locating your food plots for turkeys, consider wind directions that will give them sheltered mid day loafing areas. And site your ground blinds accordingly.
Deer Bedding Areas, and the Potential Benefit of Doing Nothing!

One slight oversight and the system goes to crap. LOL!

So I was spraying the other day, and was sharing a little bit with some folks about herbicide spraying in the spring, when my sprayer stopped working efficiently. Fearing the worst, I came back and cleaned everything out and started tearing everything apart to find out why, and realized I had overlooked one of the most simple tiny little things in my sprayer system; the screen! *sigh*
Roosting birds, and Answering questions: does early turkey break up bother me?
zhlédnutí 375Před 5 lety
I had a question come in a few days ago regarding a post I put up on Instagram saying that it seemed like our birds were starting to bust up a little early. The question was, does that early break up worry me, or give me any cause for concern? How do I deal with it? While the full detailed answer can be found at www.RoeHuntingResources.com in the Turkey Module, here’s the short answer…

    Chalk white heads have worked better for me as it indicates a hen is ready to bread so a gobbler knows it’s go time to breed when he sees it on the other Tom/jake. I target the dominate bird though on our farm. I dry brush some acrylic iridescent green and bronze onto the body feathers of a decoy. I have a ol tom Casanova i painted that looks as good as a dsd. Dry brushing metallic will make a decoy look way more real and give it that color pop like a real Tom at different light angles

    I tried prairie storm today , against a turkey load and the prairie storm did better . I was shooting a 20 gayge 3 inch shell 1 1/4 ounce number 6 . They are a little high in price but you get 25 in a box at the same price of 10 turkey rounds , I was shooting at 30 yards .

    I've been avoiding watching this video. Today I decided to give it a listen. Thankfully! Excellent analysis and message. I think that the unconstrained and constrained are the z dimension and not confined to the right&left vs center political positions. So your circle transformed into a sphere. I think some one could have a very right or left value system and they may be more or less constrained. Think about the Pope vs. a religious militant or Ghandi vs. Malcom X? Maybe not good examples, but I hope you understand what I'm saying. I'd gladly invest the time to watch another video as you continue to develope your analysis.

    They hear hens and other gobblers everyday of the year.....there is no such thing as a call shy turkey....it's the pressure they feel from human presence in the woods.....quit making content when you don't know what ur talking about.....I've killed countless turkeys where someone says they just ain't gobbling or responding to a call....you know turkeys drum to a call...and don't always gobble....it's a lil advanced for you..lol

When your done using the drill....clean it up good and spray a little Fluid Film in those bearing locations. (or you could spray some diesel fluid....as farmers have done for years.)
