Just refoamed at pair I found at the local thrift store for $30, I just hooked one up while I’m waiting for the others glue to dry and I’m blown away how punchy these are!! I can’t wait to get both hooked up

I've owned lots of amps from various manufacturers and still think the PC450 from 1997 was the best sounding 4 channel amp I've owned. (until the MMATS Hifi 4250 I have currently) Bought the PowerClass 450 used in 2000 for a hundo. Sold it in 2020 for a hundo (still in nearly new condition) to a friend.

I don't know what made me search this but im still running mine in my f150 on the focals. Sounds better than my ppi art series to me. Used to have the their tube amps too but those were underpowered for me. As per one of the owners I spoke with he thought it never caught on as it was too expensive for its time. Some series such as the grenade had a pin you could pull and would render the amp unusable (anti theft). People used to get it bypassed with a resister. Psb powered subs also use their amps

I also have two unused phase shifters . I never finished the car system i was planning due to life getting in the way . Not sure why i bought two at the time , I believe you only need one per system ? Does that sound correct ? Could you see a reason why you would put two of them in a system? Thanks

I have a pair of these, they're awesome. Now i need a amp to give them enough juice to enjoy their full potential . It's always something.

After a few other system I finally was able to have two 12s on a zr1000. I was so happy, 1000 watts back then was "alot" (for me at least). I have had some nice subs by than but the zr1000 was the big investment at the time 😂

They'll handle 800RMS. Had buddies running HCCA amps at 1/4 ohm beating the shit out of those speakers.

Great video. So seems these 12s want .66-.88 cubes net sealed. What is the driver displacement? In other words how big should the box be gross? I picked up a pretty clean one for $30 and get to hear one again for the first time since new in highschool.

Would 5 cuft tuned to 34-36hz be too much for a Stroker Pro Classic 18?

Best sounding subwoofers ever made. IMO. I have (2) 15” each ran off of a Diamond Audio 400.2 bridged to 700x1 @ 4ohms and they absolutely hit hard and play deeper than anything in a tiny 1.5 enclosure. Sound quality is outstanding.

Nice collection. Kinda reminds me of the car audio room at Sensuous Sounds in Tampa, Fla. in 1992.

The lead engineer who designed these amplifiers from 1995 -1998 was an engineer for Krell before PPI in the late 80's and was the lead engineer for Krell after leaving PPI in 1998/1999. These are truely high end reference amplifiers the grey/chrome Power Class series where essentially Krell automotive amps have you noticed the similarities. Krell amps of the late 90's/2000's where dark grey PPI Power class the first series where dark grey not just a coincidence but the engineers signature. In an article about his career the engineer states he was designing high end amps while at PPI.

I'm rocking a classic set of them with a Marantz Model 1515. Nothing better to me. I had the AT15s and while they dont boom as well, to me they sound better all around. Vega for me!

Nice! My old school collection is massive to. Our tailgate bus is mixture of new JL and old school JL. Still have all my Phoneix Gold, PPI, Zapco and Orion stuff. Could probably outfit 8-9 vehicles still. Can never bring myself to get rid of it.

I worked at Orion, speaker division. You're not mentioning the ferro fluid that helped with voice coil temps. They could handle 800 watts, I did ample destructive test on these and the extreme subs.

W6's sound great ported. I ran 3 W6 15's on a PPI 2350. hey were in a large ported box tuned to 25hz. Those things would shake the fillings out of your teeth.

They had two different tier of these flat piston subs. Are these they upper or "lower" tier?

Been a while since I've seen amps with power wires extending out of the amp assembly. I had a beautiful purple anodized unregulated linear power amp that I literally just gave away. Wish I had it back just for it's aesthetic properties alone.
