When the argue for using yougsters come up, I know this analysis has been a little bit of a stretch. This is completely against your previous argument, where Chelsea's young start are not covered enough. Most teams only introduce academy players when their starting XI is strong and STABLE enough so that they could hand-hold the new players through the process. Imagining you rush into play a youngster, who's then being destroyed by the opponent, their confidence would be long gone for like forever.

Issue is physios and medical staff wont matter with players like james and fofana getting injured 2 weeks after they got hired. Their work takes months and years Also their work doesnt affect buying players injured (nkunku, lavia) Where they matter is decisions to return players to action and longterm fitness. The main issue is young inexperienced players who all are thrown into the most physical demanding league at the same time you buy players with injury records (nkunku lavia, chillwell, fofana, madueke, gusto, cqicedo)

I honestly think Chelsea’s training/recovery facilities are so poor in comparison to a Man City or Real Madrid. If the owners invested 200m into Medical/Physio departments instead of 16 year old potential superstars Chelsea wouldn’t be in this mess. The Cobham gym literally hasn’t been renovated since Abramovich’s takeover, it’s embarrassing.

Yo guys - completely agree that injuries were a big issue during 21/22 season but some context to consider - we played 63 games that season, compared to this season's 48 (will be 51 games when the season's done). Also, yes we had recurring injuries to Kanté, RLC, James and Pulisic, but each still made 38+ apps in all comps that season (Kanté played 42 times in 21/22 vs 9 times in 22/23 with the new medical staff 🤯). Chilwell was ruled out for a contact injury which is a different matter. Compare that to this season where aside from Carney and Nkunku's injuries in the summer, none have been contact injuries, and players like James, Carney, Ugochukwu, Lavia, Nkunku (ie. the long term injuries) have mad max 11 appearances. Lavia, Carney, Nkunku, James, etc were ready to play but ruled out just weeks after, so just think the situation is very different to 21/22. What do you guys think?
