Any way you can see if the capacitors are the same from the failed one vs new?

@@pullmarkbird9112 Capacitors are black in the new units vs brown in the failed one. Same ratings though (200uF 400V IIRC)

Oh wow, thanks for the information - how did you come by it? I have received a replacement unit and it appears that the gasket/cover are not seated properly. I know for a fact that the old unit leaks electrolyte from the inside, i.e. it's not properly sealed. On the new unit the gasket does not appear to be flat against the plexiglass casing anywhere except in one corner (it's shiny and twice as wide as elsewhere on the unit). I'll check and post s/n tomorrow. Thanks again!

Both of my units start with 3980 and the failed one is 398000665, while the replacement is >6209. I'm discussing the gasket seating with MicroAir currently as well (I wish I could post a pic in comments!) as there is no way the unit is properly sealed.

Just installed replacement unit today s/n 398006717. Fingers crossed

@@ArcadiyIvanov I can't tell you how much I appreciate the update. This morning I noticed a small area of my Flex unit that was cloudy. I did send a email out to to tech support with pics. Mine still working with no faults but have noticed my start up amps have increase. Thanks again.

Sorry to hear about that. They are not supposed to fail before the compressor does. I've submitted one as well and they are sending a new one. Do you know how yours has failed?

I am guessing the soft start was hooked up to the capacitor run wire instead of the compressor run wire. It clearly states to not do this on the installation instructions. It even mentions that what you experienced will be the result if hooked up that way.

⁠I just heard back from MicroAir. It was a very quick and professional response. I received no run around and should have a replacement pretty quick.

My experience with Micro Air is theyll do the right thing.

@@03harleydeuce It's been running normally for >1500 starts for several weeks and was hooked up to the compressor run wire. I had to reverse the installation as well after the failure so there is no doubt and have before and after installation pictures and videos.

I am yet to conduct the full discharge and generator tests, but Opti-UPS has a powerful internal and temperature sensor, and at 0.5kW the temperature didn't even budge.

This system should not be run at capacity or even close to it. This UPS almost melted after running for close to an hour running at less than 300W. Internal components overheat at prolonged inversion. I've upgraded to Opti-UPS DS1000E and new video is out.

Nope, just looked at the UPS, found it's 24V battery pack of 12V x 2 serialized, found the UPS is using AWG 10 wire. Ran the calculation for maximum current (900W / 24V = 37.5A). Got appropriate connectors for 10 AWG wire and 37.5A current, got batteries, got caddies, got voltmeters, connectors crimpers and just assembled everything together.

Unfortunately no. It didn't survive the winter, probably due to insufficient draining or root rot.
