By your definition, if this video had any impact on my world view then it is an act of violence. This feels like an attempt to take a word that is universally accepted as negative and alter its definition enough that it can be applied to what you choose thereby making whatever you choose universally accepted as negative. Our language is distinctive for a reason. Calling something violent simply to cause a more visceral reaction when discussing it detracts from open discussion.

We barely understand human consciousness and what it truly means to be fully human, and people seriously think they can transcend it? Not to be overdramatic, but I think transhumanism is a dangerously delusional pipe dream, and the people of wealth, power, and influence who want to make it a reality are just going to make the world worse for similar reasons socialists did. The philosophy fails to comprehend human nature and take it into account in the formulation of their worldview. Any worldview that denies human nature and doesn't take both its virtues and vices into proper account will only produce unnecessary suffering and dysfunction when they try to faithfully implement their ideas like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Social engineering and playing God basically never ends well.

Wow. 7 years ago, i can't recall if anyone protested the idea of a computer trying to generate art. It was more of a fun hypothetical. Today, Almost every artist i know hates AI art because it turns out many people will just use AI to make whatever they need instead of paying an artist to do it. This makes being a freelance very difficult, and I've heard many people say "why are we even training AI to do the fun jobs that people actually WANT to do like writing scripts and painting pictures? Shouldn't we be using automation for the boring jobs that no one wants to do?"

How does your example show a fallacy here? So A says give me a proof that X is true. B shows up Y as a proof. A says oh ok, show me a better proof. Looks unfair right ? Or not ? I get what you're saying (also that this video is insanely old), but I just want to point out that Fallout can't suggest a reason why we didn't reach nuclear armageddon. Because even in the AU history, the great war still happened *after* our current point in time. Fallout's setting never grew past the Red Scare / McCarthyism / 50's cold war culture, which ended in nuclear destruction... but there's (unfortunately) still plenty of time for our current timeline to end the same way, just with a more modern style sensibility.

The spectacle you talk about is what I call the firework effect. You may be impressed by a firework show one or two times, but after that you need an even more impressive show to get the same effect. Thats the problem with realistic graphics. Technology does not move that fast to give you a better show quite often. So the thing that most developers focus on, which is presentation, fades away and you are left with sterile and shallow gameplay. Nintendo puts gameplay first, and leaves cartoonish graphics be cartoonish graphic. They require nothing more than maybe a resolution upscale every few years, just to remain relevant.
