A good video for beginners. I'll never forget my first use of the dark bag. It took me hours to load my first roll of 120. Outside the bag in the light I could do it in minutes. 35mm is pretty easy now but 120 can still be a pain. I purchased one of those new reels with a flat surface upon which to start the film. That definitely helps but since I usually develop old exposed film that has film memory curl, even that reel can be a challenge at times. But like you said, it's fun.

The generally accepted answer is Nurse Nancy because he was observed touching himself at 8:30 pm. Doing the math, Nurse Nancy was probably the movie. The other two would have had later showtimes. Hi, Zoe. Let me answer in two ways: 1. I remove the film from the camera and develop it myself. Then I scan the images into a computer using a flatbed flatbed scanner. Then I upload the images to a drugstore website and pick them up about three hours later. 2. The other method is to remove the film from the camera and send it off to a photo lab where they will develop the film and make prints for you. Hope this helps. Wishing you well.

Greetings, Virgile. It's good to see you again here. If it is the photo of Chloe Sevigny in red it's really horrible. The technical merits of the photo itself aren't bad it's that the crew put no time in her hair and makeup. Ghastly lack of preparation. What do you think of it? One thing on the technical side I would have exposed it at EV 11 or so to blow the outside / ambient light out. Wouldn't have to look at that stupid air conditioner outside. How would you have shot this?

    • @VirgileLeBigot

@@room111photography5 I agree. I'm french, living in Paris & I'm so disappointed in french Vogue. Never seen such ugly work. Looks like Chloë is drunk after a party and her child took the picture in the morning. I would have overexposed the outside for a more natural look. 10 or 20 years ago french Vogue showed so high quality work with the best photographers in the industry. I really don't understand how today a whole team: shoot team, and production team let something like that get on the cover. Vogue is meant to be the best in fashion, it is the highest quality we should find. And to work for them is so hard, I really don't understand why they are hiring untalented people, makes me angry. Maybe they don't want the print edition to sells... British Vogue shot the same look with same idea: character in a party, but they did a better job in my opinion, I believed the story at least.

@@VirgileLeBigot Great companies do not allow cronyism and nepotism because they know that merit will lead them to excellence and the former two will ultimately destroy them. Anna Wintour's legacy is already cemented. She will go down in history as the person who destroyed modeling and fashion photography due to cronyism. Mark Rothko was once asked, "How long did it take to paint that?" He replied, "53 years." His meaning was it took a lifetime of experience to make a painting. So.....the February cover of Vogue France.....how long did it take to make that? 36 years.

@@room111photography5 I was asking myself, do you think new technology and social media are a big parts of the problem too? I mean more people could access to photography, the change is so big, that they shadowed great work and they get hired by other people who are in the same area of change? Because, god I was just looking at advertisings from 2007 & 2008 in Vogue US, the level of work was beyond good, each new page was a perfect hit of beauty and pure photography with wonderful styling and on and on and on. Those were the people that went through the 90's and the film area. But now we are looking at the new generation. If we lived in a world where social media doesn't exist do you think the quality of work would be as good as it has been before? Like the small screen has more power then we think but in a bad way for our mind and our energy to produce really great ideas. Everybody follows trends and copy others horribly... Too much content kill content, I don't know...

You can unyellow the flash quite easily actually. Make a loose paste out of peroxide and baking soda, smear it on the flash, cover it with some cling film just so it doesn't drip off, and finally set it out on the sun for a couple of hours. That should do it, maybe cover the rest of the camera with a towel to prevent sun damage. And of course wipe if clean after removing the cling film.

I agree that digital cameras have already hit a peak and there is no need to upgrade your camera anymore. What annoys me is, spending hundreds on a new camera that the influencers are raving about and in a few years a new model is released and that camera you spent all your money on is now seen as outdated and loses most of its value. It feels like a con and people should not buy into it. Film cameras on the other hand never lose their value. If anything, they go up. You’re right when you say there is no point now in using digital cameras. But there is a point to shooting film. Although I'm new to photography, I had to say this is one of the most amazing images I've ever come across. A seemingly everyday item, a lighting fixture dominates the angular perspective of the room, as it would seem Eggleston was perfectly situated when he took this photograph. Of course the blood red gives it a touch of the sinister, but there is something incredibly philosophical and profound about this photo because it endlessly fascinates me. But I cannot put my finger on it and that part of the allure of this photograph. Perhaps in the way the fixture dominates the center - I liken it to a deity having these three white wires of force radiating out in a T-formation across the ceiling.

Greetings, filthyE. Thanks for your kind words. I love Meisel's work. Linda Evangelista was his muse in the 1990s, and their work from that period remains among the best, on par with David Bailey paired with Jean Shrimpton. Wishing you well, friend.

Great episode. This magazine looks like an expensive issue. Good quality all around. Also, good job guessing that photographer! That’s some skill.

That's an interesting concept. I have come close a few times, especially with Vogue, due to it being a vehicle for nepotism and cronyism cloaked as a fashion magazine. Thanks for your comment, and long live Topo Gigio.

Please provide some context. How do you wish the magazine pages to be torn? Is slowly and somewhat quietly okay? Do you want them ripped quickly and violently? I truly try to accommodate requests, but tearing them quickly and violently would kill the ASMR effect.

Greetings, friend. Nice to see you back. Yes, Nina Garcia is doing amazing work at ELLE. Circulation is down from its "recent" 2010 peak. Her peers at Harper's BAZAAR and Vogue cut expenses to deal with their own downturns in circulation, especially print quality. To distinguish ELLE from the others, Nina has increased costs, with approval from the board, I'm sure, to reverse current trends. She is attempting to take ELLE back to the glory it once enjoyed. I never discuss the writing in the magazines, but even the writing has improved. She is trying to compete with Vanity Fair, which has led the fashion mags for a long time in terms on journalism. This is what a great leader can do: rally his/her people, get buy-in, ask for their trust, and then take the organization to greatness. So, yes, you're spot on. She is doing amazing work to restore ELLE to its former glory. And I hope that the general public will respond accordingly, subscribing or buying at the newsstand to reward her for her efforts. Thanks for your comment. Wishing you well always.

Reminds me of my pappy just before he died. He said, "Son, I have something to tell you. Need to get it off my chest. I spent half my money on women and booze. The other half...I just wasted."

Great video again! Going back to all your videos, and knowing those magazines are at the very top, it's very hard to be commission as a photographer for instance... I really don't understand how stylists, editors and some photographers can make so much mistakes & wrong choices? It's like they don't care at all sometimes. But this means there are so much talented and better people who could do the job but they are left behind struggling. And this is not like now we don't know what a good work is. We had Patrick Demarchelier, Gilles Bensimon, Steven Meisel, great fashion editors too, to show the way. I can't understand...

    • @room111photography5

Greetings, Virgile. Yes, what you wrote is so true. The answer is that nepotism has overtaken the fashion industry. All aspects of it. I can write paragraphs on this topic. I saw your work. It is excellent and worthy of publication in the fashion magazines. The problem is you're not connected. The gatekeepers hold the gates open only for those who are connected. The merit based system died some years ago. And you're right: Carmel Snow, Diana Vreeland, and Alexey Brotovitch would be aghast at what's being published today. They would be repulsed at the garbage that is being produced.
