This was before they started injecting the soldiers with shit that hulked them out, so that's why that drone was giving Marcus a PIECE, compared to after being beefed up and being able to actually go hand to hand with them in the later games

It would be awesome if we get to see Maria alive. Even being taken away, heart breaking?, yes. But still awesome to have something about that. Imagine maybe at the very start of the game we play as a nameless cog soldier protecting a refugee camp from the horde. Doing our best to save the survivors and then the horror. We get overrun and we realize Maria was among the survivors. Can you guys imagine that?, the feeling that WE failed Dom? 😢😢😢😢
