Downfall German historical war drama film
Downfall (German: Der Untergang) is a 2004 German historical war drama film directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel from a screenplay by its producer, Bernd Eichinger. The film stars Bruno Ganz, Alexandra Maria Lara, Corinna Harfouch, Ulrich Matthes, Juliane Köhler, Heino Ferch, Christian Berkel, Alexander Held, Matthias Habich, and Thomas Kretschmann. It is set during the Battle of Berlin in World War II, when Nazi Germany is on the verge of defeat, and depicts the final days of Adolf Hitler (portrayed by Ganz).
Principal photography took place from September to November 2003, on location in Berlin, Munich, and in Saint Petersburg, Russia. As the film is set in and around the Führerbunker, Hirschbiegel used eyewitness accounts, survivors' memoirs, and other historical sources during production to reconstruct the look and atmosphere of 1940s Berlin. The screenplay was based on the books Inside Hitler's Bunker by historian Joachim Fest and Until the Final Hour by Hitler's former private secretary Traudl Junge, among other accounts of the period.
The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival on 14 September 2004. It was controversial with audiences for showing the human side of Hitler and its portrayal of members of the Third Reich. It later received a wide theatrical release in Germany under its production company Constantin Film. The film grossed over $92 million and received favourable reviews from critics, particularly for Ganz's performance as Adolf Hitler and Eichinger's screenplay. Downfall was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 77th Academy Awards. Scenes from the film, such as the one where a furious Hitler learns that the generals failed to obey his orders, spawned a series of Internet memes.

Brilliant film.. Have seen it once or twice before.. Who ever the film crew where they've done a 1st class job with this, great with the mk ii stens.. And the rate of fire with that MG 34, thanks for showing this actioner. Here in the UK you still have to pay for it..

Not full movie😢. Only 95% ending at a crucial point
The shaky camera affect ruins this. Tripods are now cheap and plentiful. About 20 bucks at Walmart.
Ti kluci, byli opravdu neskutečně odvážní. Nejhorší na tom všem je, že nešlo o spontánní akci, ale o propagační akci exilové vlády v Británii. V té době měla vetší popularitu vláda v SSSR a tak atentát na R.Heydricha byla akce spíše k propagaci vlády kolem E. Beneše. Český odboj je velmi důrazně varoval a zrazoval, že přijdou extrémní odplaty. Varování byla ignorována (klasika jako dnes.. politika je více, než váš život)...a po atentátu přišlo období brutálních masakrů a násilí. Ale vláda v Anglii toto prezentovala jako vlastní schopnost bojovat proti okupaci ( ono se totiž velmi krásně bojuje za stolem s hrnkem čaje) . Je to hnusné, protože v první řadě nešlo o R. Heydricha ale o zviditelnění upadající české vlády v Británii, která byla velmi pasivní v letech 1937 +, a normální lidé většinou přecházeli ke Komunistické straně. Jsem Čech a měl jsem díky bohu možnost se v rámci historie dostat hlouběji , než jak je běžné. Když jsem dokoukal tenhle film takmě napadla jen jedna věta.. " zasraná politika!! "

The only resistance that mattered during world war 2 was the Czechs. Reinhard Heydrich had to go. His death was a major blow to the Nazis and probably helped end the war faster as Heydrich was about to be sent to Paris when he was shot. Had he been stationed there, operation overlord would have more than likely been a failure as there would have been next to no French resistance left
