I dunno man, id say the poison mushroom is the most useless powerup in all of Mario history. It literally kills you if you have no power up, which can just be done by every other enemy. Theres literally 0 reason to grab it during normal gameplay unless you mistake it for a 1-up or a mushroom.

The Switch controllers have TERRIBLE d-pads. You need an OG NES controller for precision platforming.

I'm tired of SMB2 slander. It's literally a continuation of the first game and a logical step up in difficulty. Everything people complain about (besides 7-3) is simple to learn and avoid. You shouldn't be able to beat the game on your first pass - that indicates there is little to no challange. Most of Mario's level design challenge comes from the level design, not the mechanics, as the mechanics are usually quite simple. The "leaps of faith" for example really aren't that difficult and most can be passed without thought if you just make sure to jump at the edge of the platform. Only a few require you to wait (or if you actually use your brain, scroll the camera so you can see the moving enemy you need to jump on).

As someone who didn't have internet on his Wii and had zero access to retro games, tbis was actually my first experience ever with these games.

The real reason Lost Levels wasn't released in the US as SMB2 is because Nintendo of America felt the game was a lazy rehash of the first SMB, and didn't bring anything new to the table.

I mentioned masterpieces on my stream last time I tried playing Metroid. The coolest thing to happen with it is the Ocarina Speedrun with the Mastepriece Version.

For the stuff about Luigi in Super Mario Wonder, I'm pretty sure most of his sprites are based off of misinterpretations of Mario's sprites from Mario 1 and 3. So for example, with the Luigi fireball shooting one, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be him sneezing out fireballs since some people mistook the Mario 1 sprite for Mario sneezing.

Nice video as usual, but I would think that most people growing up with the game (or even playing for the first time today) would use the metal cap unironically at least a couple of times throughout the game. Although I did know that you could get some underwater items/stars like the one in Dire Dire Docks without the metal cap through brute force, I did not know that you could ground pound some underwater switches or coins, and I don't think that's common knowledge. I've seen 100 Mario videos and I never knew that until now.

Me personally, while I do get why the time limits were there as to get everyone to buy them via the shop, where I draw the line is the fact that this arbitrary limitation aged really poorly by today's standards. For Brawl and Smash 4, the console's shop to buy the games is well into its extinction, the time limit now only serves as one ginormous tease. I cannot help but shake the fact that these are indeed full ROMs of games that are crammed into Smash. Would it be too much to ask for had the time limit not been present? Sure, the price for that would be very high, but it would've been a cool thing to play the full games in Smash and have that be a bragging moment at a party. Person 1: "Name one impressive accomplishment you've done back in the day." Person 2: "I beat Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels without using warps from Masterpiece Mode on Super Smash Bros. 4."

I only played it via the All Stars SNES game while you COULD play the Game Boy Advanced version of Lost Levels World A through D are NOT in THAT version of the game at all World 9 I believe IS on the GBA version but doesn't require you to beat worlds 1 to 8 without warping to DO so.

All-stars, how do I know it is fake, in Super mario bros. and Super mario bros. the lost level in all-stars if you bonk a block it does not push you down. So your analysis is false already. Nintendo in the All-star version did on purpose to keep the glitch to make it easier. I also agree with your opinion without you influencing my opinion.

In the gamecube port of Sonic adventure, you can unlock classic Sonic games from the Game gear era. That was back in 2004 and guess what, you had access to the full games, no restriction, no timer, no BS. I swear, Nintendo has no shame.

They only EXIST in English via the All stars version I believe the Advanced GBA version DID have Lost Levels as a PLAYABLE game BUT WORLDS 9 onwards don't EXIST in that one.

The Japanese just says ありがと, which is arigatou, or Thank you. It's spelled in katakana though, reads as アリガト! Usually it's only used for words from other languages, but i imagine they just did it because it's easier to write out in game with blocks

It's wild, I played 100s of hours of Smash 4 and I NEVER knew Masterpieces were in the game. I guess to be fair, I hardly ever went into the Vault

MattTrashBoat: Mario can drown in 2d mario game, the in game timer, but by that logic he get drown in dry air. Notice that a 3D platform does not have an in game timer that kill mario so that is the reason under water is time limited.

MattTrashBoat: unlocking World A-D in the original famicom can be done by skiping castle, you can just do the warp zone to world 4 in 1-2 and the warp zone to world 8 in 5-2, so doing that 7 more time is not as taxing as people originally thought. I do not know if you mention this in your other video I just do not have time to watch it today, and also in the Famicom version since it will still take time to unlock world A-D even by using warp zone, they made World A through D easier except for C-3 but that is only because of a glitch. In The SNES version of it since you only need to beat World 8-4 one time to unlock World A-D they make does level harder in that version of the game the glitch of C-3 is fix.

MattTrashBoat: you are already wrong about no warp zone for world 9 for the original famicom version of Super mario bros. the lost level. The reason why no warp zone normally when you used a warp zone you skip a castle that you never done, and that is the reason why you do not get world 9, in the version I'm mentioning If you do all the level untill world 3-1, and you accidently found warp zone to world 1 and you do not want to lose a life, you can do this enter warp zone to world 1 and then in world 1-2 do the warp zone to world 3, in this case you never skip a castle that is never been done so at the end of world 8-4 you still have world 9, this will also happen if you do all the level untill world 8-1 but you accidentally found warp zone to world 5, you can just go in and in world 5-2 found the warp to world 8 you will still have world 9 at the end of 8-4. However what I mention will not work in the Super nintendo version of the same game since the Super nintendo version detect if you enter a pipe with warp zone above it. And this make sense since the original Famicom version world 9 start you with only 1 life it is less strick to receive it specially if you fail to complete world 9 in the original famicom you have to play all the level again. While the Super nintendo they made it more strick to receive it, since you keep you current life, and failling world 9 does not make you do all the level again, however if world 9 is already save on your file and you used a warp zone and accidently save it will deleted world 9 from your save file, and the only way to get it back is to deleted the save file and play all does level again.

I honestly dont understand why they decided on the timer. It woukd have been really easy to just include the first level in games seperated into levels. All Zelda games would have worked if they just were the first dungeon Super Metroid woukd have worked if it starts normally but lets you go up to Norfair but ends once you enter Kraids Lair The original metroid would have only needed Brinstar, with the Norfair Elevator room booting you out

IMO level design in this game is not enjoyable even after beating it several times. And I appreciate enjoyable and overall better level design in "USA" SMB2. Super Mario bros 2 is my pick for proper sequel(I know it is only rescin of other game)

Why are some of trials so dark? Mostly the nes titles. The virtual console version isnt as dark
