Richard Hornsby Vaporizing Oil Engine
This Model 1905 engine left the factory on December 7, 1910. It was sold to V. A. Lawson, Esq., of Circle Street, Cirencester, agent for the Rural District Council of Lechlade.
Richard Hornsby began making this engine after Herbert Ackroyd-Stuart's patent expired in 1905.

This is just a short clip to show some of my Sig buddies the movement of the sear spring on the mainspring housing. The gun has about 800-1000 rounds through it. I replaced these parts with second generation parts, which reduce the failure rate found in the earlier guns. With shipping, the parts were about fourteen bucks from Sig.

1863 Burrall Corn Sheller

Prior to the perfection of the spring sheller in the 1850's, corn was removed from the ears by hand, a time consuming task. This hand-powered sheller was built in the 1860's. It uses a feeding wheel to push the ears into a picker wheel. The picker wheel has numerous nibs protruding from its side. The spring holds the ear against the nibs, which push the kernels from the ear. The corn kernels fa...

The Western Iron Works was founded in 1887, in Los Angeles, California. By 1901 the company had built its first internal combustion engine. Reliability and production soared after the introduction of the "Model 1905 Geared" engine. It was this successful design upon which later Wes...

The liquid you pour off your butter is really more like skim milk, until you add a fermenting culture, to make it into the buttermilk most of us are familiar with. That's a great old churn. Very similar to the one we had when I was a kid. Sorry though, I have given in to technology and use my stand mixer ;)
