From flower pots to the leader in static control flooring
How did SelecTech get its start? Believe it or not, it started with flower pots.
In celebrating the company’s 30th anniversary, Tom Ricciardelli shares the beginning story of SelecTech.
I'm Tom Ricciardelli. I'm one of the founders of the company--myself, Michael King and a fellow named Chuck Dwyer. We started the company 30 years ago. Our mission has been and always is to use recycled materials. We kind of turned and twisted and come a long way. Originally, we were recycling all kinds of things. Our original mission was to use things that were difficult to recycle. So, we tried to find a home for things that weren't getting a home and we were making things like flower pots and landscape Timbers and all kinds of things and using all kinds of materials, pallet wrapping old wire installation, carpet backing. Again, we had this really unique capability of creating products from stuff that no one wanted. Along our path, we connected with a DuPont company that was trying to recover carpet backing as an association with their antron business. This is years ago. And we got headlong into flooring based on their needs. That kind of got us into flooring and we've not looked back since. It's been a long, long path. We've twisted and turned and found our way. Flooring is a big, big, competitive business. We had to find our unique niche. Now, we are the world experts at static control flooring? I mean, who would have thought?

30 years of SelecTech - What Sustains Us

We still use a lot of recycled material. One of our products has 96% recycled content, so. We're pretty proud of that. It's not easy to do that and I think we're unique in that regard. The other thing that makes us very different, especially in flooring, is we will take back our product. Our primary product is an interlocking tile. It does not go to the floor. So it's pretty easy to pick it up....

Using a seam sealer with our interlocking tiles

Minimizing down time is one of the many benefits of our interlocking tile product. Many people use a mallet to lightly tap and install. A seam roller, used in this installation of StaticStop’s FreeStyle ESD tile, demonstrates a smoother way to install tiles. While using a hammer or mallet can get the job done, tapping too hard can make the other side of the tile “pop” up. The seam roller ensure...

how water tight are the tiles? Will water seep underneath and cause mold?
Damn them tiles beat his ass...
Thanks a lot, that was very helpful :)
I need to do this with roll out vinyl in my Sons room. The carpet is very flat, office type. I hope it works well.
Are the tiles toxic? How do you call the tiles?
What is the difference in price between the 2?
Is the 97.1 replaced by 97.2?
very cool flooring.
somebody please tell me the name of that product?
Were the 4 tiles glued down to the substrate with adhesive? what is the approx weight of each tile? Will dirt accumulate in the in the interlocking seams?
Its not that easy.
Hello, where do I cut the first one and do I need the glue?
I love it
seriously with the sandals?
Your out of breath my friend. Work on your cardio ok. You will breath fine in about 3 months
hahaha says the guy with a mask around his chin 😵💫
Maybe he’s nervous on camera & it gives him anxiety 🥺🥺 or what if he has asthma / anything else that can cause a hard time breathing
what has this got to do with tiles and carpet, honestly🤦♂️
Someone glued carpet on top of asbestos tiling in my house. Like... Slathered in glue, every square inch of carpet is firmly cemented down. >:(
😳
Same here did you have it fixed and how was the process of ripping the carpet up off asbestos
I have read it is safer to seal up asbestos than to rip it up and expose you and others to the toxins of asbestos, seems logical, but never have tried. I would worry the replacement tiles would be toxic, if not careful in selecting a safe product,@@user-jj8go2lp5l
u know asbestos is toxic. gotta get experts to remove them for you.
This is brilliant I think I will be doing this didn’t know I could do this
Where do you buy this and what is it called?
Where can I get this
There are carpet tiles at wallmart and probably at lowes or home depot
@@THEDOORIZCLOSED These wood flooring tiles not carpet tiles he installing
I know this is super late but just look up his company info (name on the channel) and you will find it
Wow! This is awesome! I’d definitely consider this!!
Which material is it? How can we order it?
