Had this exact issue... So excited with my Hawke Vantage scope on my new spring powered Walther Classus... was very dissapointed that optical dead centre didn't even show in my field of view.. full elevation didn't even have the POI above the black line into the mildots.. The solution? I bought Hawke high mounts and Hawke 25 MOA shims. I couldn't be happier. Honestly just use the proper stuff... my POI at 30yards is at a few clicks from ODC.. problem solved!

This was also a gift from my parents at the age of around 12 years and - like for so many others - set me off on a path of studying physics, mathematics and later computing ... Thanks so much, brings back memories!

Hi, the hiss is a sign that tr2 and tr3 are conducting. Tr1 is the radio frequency transistor and it's job is to amplify the radio signals picked up by the anntena coil, but it also is used to amplify the audio signal detected by Diode D1 and the choke coil thus Tr1 is doing two jobs for the price of one, a very neat trick and that is why Phillips used this radio circuit design its called a reflex radio circuit. Now to test if your Tr1 is working assuming all your connects are good, try the following. Remove the anntena wire that is connected to the base of Tr1 marked b on your project card. Now with your volume set on full touch the Tr1 base terminal with your finger. You should be hearing a loud hum coming through the earphone, which indicates that all 3 transistors are working and amplification of the audio signals is good. Now replace the anntena coil connection back on to the base of Tr1. Now the next test is to see if your Anntena coil is picking up radio frequency signals and amplified through Tr1. Again with your volume set on full, place your cell phone very close or on top of your Anntena coil, your should hear a very loud buzzing generated by the cell phones internal clock frequencies. Your could also try this test with placing a TV type IR remote control and pressing any of the buttons, or just by placing your radio with the antenna vey near or against and electrical output plug to pick up mains wiring hum. If any of the above tests prove successful, then your radio is recieving, detecting and amplifying correctly. If you are not tuning in any radio stations check that your anntena coil wires are all orientated correctly to the circuit board and that there are no broken solder connections on the coil itself, use a multimeter to check all these and other connections if possible. Remember this is 60yer old kit, and many of those spring and clip connections are tarnished. Buff and clean with switch cleaning fluid as requred. Most AM broadcast stations are stronger at night and the use of the outdoor anntena is advised. The tuning capacitor is about 150pf and may have a short between the moving plates check to see that the plates are moving without any shorts accross its entire tuning range. Also remember that the AM transmissions recieved by your coil are directional so its always best to rotate your radio to pick up the strongest signal. Good luck with getting your radio up and running.

I started my life in electronics in 1972 when I was 15 years old, using this Philips Electronic Engineer Kit. At the end of 1975 I won a job competition and started working at a Broadcast TV Station. Today I have almost 50 years of experience in the area of electronics and telecommunications with several products that I developed and approved for this purpose. I arrived here on your channel and was amazed at the state of conservation of your Kit. I'm trying to rescue one of these. Congratulations!

I re-sealed mine as the old ones had turned to cheese. Had no problem dismantling it, putting it back together was something else. It was spread out on the kitchen table for a week before I finally got it together, and it worked haha. Be easier doing it again but I expect the new seals to see me out being as I'm 70.

Hello Sir, Thank you for filming and commentating on a fantastic review of dismantling and re- assembling your Diana Model 27 spring piston air rifle. What a great, interesting view. I wondered if you could help me, please? My late, dearly loved father left me two Diana Original Model 35 air rifles in .177 and .22 calibres. They were dry inside, unloved and in need of much tlc. My father though never complained, suffered ill health and wouldn't have left those air rifles like that through choice. He cared too much. I was a 1970's child who was seen and not heard. My father kept me away from air rifles. They were his land and not to be trespassed upon. In those days, if your parents told you not do something, you didnt do it. End of! Not like these daysI ld have loved air rifles in my life. Ihave renovated both air rifles now. I installed both with new modern piston/breech seals sourced from Australia.I made both of them top hats which they didn't originaly have and sleeved the piston insides and spring guides. I used the best paste's, greases, I could. I'm so happy with how they turned out. The horrible buzz/twang has gone now, leaving more of a zip noise and Id say less recoil. I get the impression this Diana model was underpowered and not improved, so left behind by it competitors. Would that be true? I don't think these air rifles would be full power, though I'm super pleased with how my journey has turned out and their overall function has vastly improved. I would love to know anything you could tell me and hope I'm not being a nuisance. Thank you, Ian.

Great, clear instruction. I purchased MKI pistol in the late 70's ,put it away and never touched it again. I did follow your directions and it was easy. I did rebuild piercing plug by removing inner threaded sleeve and replacing o ring. Three weeks after piercing co2 full power shooting. Thanks again. Nick

Delrin valve seal …. I replaced mine with a nylon o-ring which I made on the lathe. This required removing the brass valve head from the stem. These parts are pressed together and required a small hydraulic press to get them apart. And even then I had to simultaneously apply a bit of heat to the brass with a propane torch. Note that the stem only presses out in one direction … away from the seal. This is due to a small flaring taper in the stem just in from of the seal …. it is this taper which holds the seal in place. The seal OD did not need to be a precision fit but the ID did. A finger-tight press fit between the stem and seal was sufficient. To reassemble, the seal was placed into the brass and the stem carefully pressed in with the hydraulic press until the flared part of the stem just met the seal. And that’s it. Some new valves don’t have brass at all, it has been replaced with some sort of plastic (Teflon?) which also serves as the seal. This is much easier to make. In future. I’ll make a single Teflon or nylon block to replace the brass + seal and press it onto the stem.

Wish the lighting had been better but I know it's a black gun so not easy! Definitely got me through super happy. Getting that last valve out was super difficult Glad you said to heat it up because that's what did it!

I build all circuits and to this day it was my most appreciated childhood toy The radio I used for many times It is however an amplified crystal set and needs an external antenna and earth to make it pick up stations . Used it to pickup mw stations that were 50 ks away and even some short way. The variable resister you refer to is a variable capacitor but it could tune the full mw band also pulling the iron core partially out of the core tuned frequencies as well. I remember having the intercom setup between my tree house and our house. Really had lots of fun and I too went into the electronics industries and still a contractor for NBN here in Australia.

Not that it matters to your problems with getting this going, but the rotary component in the bottom left corner is a variable capacitor. I had this kit when I was about 8 to 10 years old and most of the projects worked as described. There was very little learning though, as it was mostly just copying the component placements. My strongest memory was how much the terminals hurt my small fingers when pushing the barrel springs over the post pins, and again taking them of in preparation for a new project.

The two setting trigger adjuster is for target shooting for ISSF rules at 500 grams max and the other 1035 grams for center fire training. If you look under the barrel on the frame you will see a screw hole and this is for attaching a plate which prevents the top frame from moving backwards. Basically it turns the pistol into a recoiling, centre-fire trainer. This feature was not available on the later FWB 80. I'm working on a FWB65 which I bought incorrectly assembled as the top frame was locked. It turns out the rear sledge pin was not correctly replaced. In your video you refer to a part that has to be lifted so that the pin can be inserted. On my pistol this wasn't done so the top frame couldn't slide back upon discharge. I did manage to lose one of the eclips (called Jesus clips because one says: "Jesus!" when they launch into space never again to be found) so I'm waiting for some to arrive. There are also some very thin washer s which are easily lost. With a bit of luck my pistol will operate the same as yours. Many thanks for a great series of videos.

Have you continued to drink it, have you heard about the changes in this product. What medicines are you using today?
