Australia, Brisbane: yeah we started a rail trail in the Brisbane Valley 3 years after CO in 2003...but didn't finish it till 2018. Northern Rivers we recently got stage 1 of our rail trail...NZ sharp people where the frontier mentality forces them to be ahead of the curve. It also creates a bunker mentality however as you can see, they get with the programme. Australia needs to be more resourceful, develop better vision, be faster, stronger.

How are you gonna do it when the Cooma heritage railway was their 30 years before the rail trail was planned. Are you gonna work together or will you simply rip up the track that the heritage railway group has planned ? ( I kinda need some answers )( good ones articles never seem to help for some reason

We need the conversion of the North East railway Tasmania to a railtrail..What a mess it has been or circus ) .It must start within Launceston at the university precinct Invermay, run parallel to the Bell Bay Tasrail railway between Rocherlea and Coldwater Creek junction and all the way to Lebrina. At this point deviate the RT into a path directly south 1 km into Denison Gorge (a picnic area between 1890 and 1950). Develop camping, glamping and 12 overnight cabins. Then continue to Scottsdale. Scottsdale to Tulendeena, Tasmania's first RT. Continue and convert the overgtown section from Tullendeena to Branxholme. It cannot get to Derby because farmers bought the easement in the late 1990's (maybe??!). So Lebrina becomes a cafe, bistro hospitality hub as a half way focus destination. Something a like the Wine Station Blenheim New Zealand, or the Bullant Brewery Bruthen on the East Gippsland RT. However the old railway between Lebrina to Denison Gorge to Wyena is the best section of interesting railway left in Australia. So rebuild it using all steel second hand sleepers removed else where and operate a professional steam train shuttle 4km, every 50 minutes, every day during peak season. Construct a railway workshop service storage depot at Wyena. Out of the publics view. So like the Port of Echuca, utilise some heritage transportant and incorporate into a hospitality /recreational hub. Make a raill trail that stands out and is part of the community, a co-operative . Google Earth Lebrina and follow the railway to Wyena.

THIS is a good example of a rail trail, a quiet area with no demand for railway traffic that's been turned into an actually attractive tourist hotspot. The Northern Rivers rail trail will serve no use, the line has way too much demand for it to be ripped up, it should be operating train services RIGHT NOW!
