even buying food at food pantries sucks. in MA my friend who makes under living wage (before paying rent etc.) went to her designated pantry. All the meat was gone. Some group of people got there first and wiped them out. Almost nothing to buy. Sadly that shelter let them do this (not old people btw) there are no limits. I thought pantries had limits.

With a canner (21 quart) jars, lids, and rings, harvest time is all the time. At the store you can buy all you want of a vegatable, or meat and can it up for the future. You could can up 30 lbs. Of carrots, or chicken .

could one refill these propane canisters with LPG gas? I live in central america and we don't use propane (even tho it is available) we mostly use LPG and i find these small cans to be so convenient in an emergency.

I live in a place where if you don't prep for winter you will be in trouble. I can tell the most important thing for survival is adaptation. Soap and water is the most important thing to protect your self from germs. I use propane everyday for cooking and hot water. I have a well with a hand pump. It is a 120 ft well. It is canning season so, no, there aren't a lot of mason jars right now. I am a Firefighter/ EMT. There are a lot of first aid stuff that doesn't have to come from the store. If the power is out the radios will be out and so will internet. In 2000 we had a severe ice storm here in Arkansas. In my local area we were without power for 38 days. We read a lot and played board games. We have a wood stove and a stockpile of wood. We didn't even really have any issue with the poer being out except for the first two days when all the trees were cracking and exploding around us. I was afraid that a tree was going to come through the house or the roof was going to collapse from the weight of the ice. That actually did happen to some people we know.

When it hits im going home to family. We already have it worked out.

Not a holiday; and It was so crowded not one little area was available to park a vehicle much less pitch a tent. Luckily I had rented a lake cabin for the entire week so I had a place. That trip told me enough to confirm my thinking on our bleak future if SHTF really does happen and a Great Depression hits us hard. People are going to be starving by the millions. It will get real ugly - real fast.

Buy an ordinary radio which takes removable AA batteries and a pack of several spare AA batteries with 10 year shelf-life. All the usual companies produce 10 YEAR shelf-life AA batteries. Don’t leave the batteries in the radio if you are storing it for emergencies.

I got a 4000mAH hand crack solar powered USB charger flashlight radio. It says it takes 2 minutes to hand crank for 15 - 20 minutes for the flashlight and radio to work. But it takes over an hour to get the cell phone to 10%. The flashlight is pretty bright. Never can have enough flashlights. After the power went out for a week after Hurricane Sandy in 2012. It's nice to have a GPS ready and listen to podcasts on my cell phone.

Bought 4 black Berkey filters 2-3 years ago at $75CAD each, today they are at least $125CAD each. So glad I bought back then.

If you have older, single-pane windows you can take bubble wrap, spray the flat side with a water/soap solution, and plaster it onto the glass. This really makes a difference; if you don't have bubble wrap, taking a sheet of plastic & taping it to window frames can be a decent second option. Both of these will allow light inside.

I agree a replaceable battery is preferable. But since you already have the radio, it's not that difficult to glue a battery holder to the outside of the radio, cut the 2 internal battery wires, and then solder 2 wires to the external battery holder. But if you can fit a battery holder inside the radio (maybe for a slightly smaller size battery, with same voltage), then that will obviously be better.

I tried this with 2 Delta max 2000 but used them as a UPS as we have frequent outages. I connected the 26.cuft fridge to one delta max and hooked the delta max 2000 to the wall plug for pass through charging.. I connected the second Delta max 2000 to another wall plug and connected it to the first delta max to charge it when the time would come. This way when I traveled out of town if we lose power it will run my fridge. One delta max runs my fridge for 15 hours, I figured this would double the run time in case it took longer to get the grid back up. I don't know if this would work or if I should only have one delta max hooked up to grid power. Anyway when I arrived the house was still intact.

About not grabbing your bug- out bag for t wrong reasons, here's one that I learned from the Old Man at an early age. The first time I tried to run away from home, #1.. take a good bedroll. And practice goes a long way. I was lucky that he was a DI in t Corps and had an open mind and hreat heart, but. Seriously many people have no idea how to just live day to day on t open road. And I guess if it's a $30 or whatever type of thing they figure you're going to buy several of them or you just going to buy a new one it's like a toaster they're not precious..😅😅😅 dude if you can't fix it yourself then just buy another one.😅 But yeah if you actually paid $50 for something you would think that you would need something to have interchangeable battery all someone who's candy has to do is make that whole just a little bit bigger so you need to take that battery out Stop whining about a fairly decent radio. Nice video thanks. Im having a hard time making a decision between the Bluetti Ac300 or the Ecoflow Delta Pro. I will be living in a stationary RV totally off grid while we build our house over time. I've heard that the Ac300 drains a LOT of power just sitting in on mode without any draw. But I'm not sure how that compares to the delta pro. I hope to put in about 1200 watts of solar ( with rigid panels) to it so I can run a small 5000btu air conditioner window unit when neccessary.( about 450-500watt draw) to hopefully be able to charge the power station by solar while using the window unit during the day sometimes for our animals. S hopefully be able to compensate for the usage and be able to charge it a bit too. I already have a bluetti AC180 which I can use for some other loads. Hmm, Ac300 or Delta Pro? What would you do for yourself in that scenario?

As I understand it, we aren’t suppose to pre prime the new filter UNTIL time of use. So storing the new/unprimed filter, in the bucket, puts us in a precarious situation in the actual emergency, IF we cannot use our tap. Your thoughts on this?
