    Interesting choices! Loved the Claire Keegan. I’m the mom of a young man who lives with autism and strangely enough I have never gotten around to The Curious Incident. Perhaps this will be the year. 😊 Congratulations on exceeding 500 subscribers! Yay!

    I think you are clever to use three descriptor words instead of dancing around the plot to avoid spoilers. The descriptor words really helps give me a feeling for the book. Thank you also for not editing out your pauses, or if you inhale and take a breath, as other booktubers do. It's more natural, it's less rushed.And I can think better about what you're saying.

    I read Memoirs of a Geisha years ago and thought it was excellent. What I kept finding it hard to believe was that it was written by a man AND that it’s fiction! I really enjoyed it and hope you do too.

    Historical fiction is easily my favorite genre. I would suggest anything by Paulette Jiles. Her research is impressive and I love how her characters pop up in all her books. The Mermaid And Mrs Hancock by Imogene Hermies Gower is technically fantasy, but there is so much interesting history I could put this into the historical fiction category. This is her debut novel, and I enjoyed her style of writing so much I can’t wait for her next book. This goes in to my top ten books.

    Wow! Look at you already 600 subs! I’m so happy to see your channel growing so fast. :) This was a fun tag! I have Migrations on my bookshelf and have been meaning to get to it. Japan was the second country I ever visited and it was amazing! 10/10 would recommend. It’s part of the reason I fell in love with traveling.

    Hi Katherine, congratulations on your growing channel, well deserved! You are going to LOVE Verghese's book.. It was one of my favorite reads in 2023... The buzz on The Familiar hasn't reached Italy so I am totally in the dark about this book but the cover looks intriguing.. Atakora book sounds interesting too! Yes, the book on Cleopatra is quite intimidating! Happy reading!

    The Professor of Secrets sounds fascinating! And yayyy we already talked about The Memoirs of Cleopatra. If you don’t pick it up I also recommend the mini series based on the book. I just picked up Beloved and am a bit nervous to pick it up. Happy reading!

    I read Memoirs of a Geisha a long time ago. It still is one of my all time favorite books. The movie was not very good - the book is fantastic!!! I read The Covenant of Water recently and enjoyed it very much. Also loved Verghese's book Cutting for Stone.

    That is a CHUNKY memoir 😅 Maybe you could start it in June, and just read a chapter or X number of pages each week or month? And then you'll be on your way to finish it sometime 2025/2026 😂 I want to read both of those (Familiar & CoW) but I probably won't get to them in June. I mean this month.     I’m loving that you have Memoirs of a Geisha in your p.o.p. I was a kid when it came out and I remember all the women in my family going “I can’t believe it was written by a MAN.” I wonder how it holds up. I’ve never read it and maybe I should. Would love to hear your thoughts if you do end up picking it up! I´m definitely participating in the readathon, I´m so excited about it!

    If you haven’t already read it, may I recommend The Egyptian by Mika Waltari. Originally published in Finnish in 1945 it is not only one of my favorite historical fiction books, but one of my all time favorite books in general.

    I don’t know if it’s late to say welcome! I just found your channel and I love British fiction and witchy women, literary and historical fiction, so I look forward to hearing about those. You reminded me I used to love the Sweet Valley High series, so nostalgic. I love Jen and Simon! And I love the term catnip!     Hi Katherine, what a great idea/video. Since, like you, I am a sucker for historic novels, I was checking with my library each title you mentioned. I should read Still Life since it's set in Italy.. but my library only have an eBook version (and I don't like to read eBooks at all) so I will probably get this book next time I visit USA.
