    I really like how you teach with pencils. Just got back into water coloring again and it is easier sketching it in pencils and then paint later!

    Shy, modest - and patient! Not everyone would hold a camera, and presumably edit the film, for no reward other than uxorious gratitude (good word that: I hope it's the right one...).

      Oh, and no one doubts that you're a comic genius. I was told that I used too much - I think he meant "any" - water with acrylic paint; he, a now deceased colleague on Painters Online, insisted I should only use acrylic medium - which in 50 years of acrylic painting, I almost never have. He would have criticized your use of water alone, claiming your paint would be underbound - but I think, and hope you agree, that you'd have to water Daler-Rowney acrylics down to homeopathic levels before underbinding would be an issue. They remain my favourite acrylics, both System 3 and Cryla; even their Graduate acrylics are good - not something you could say of student quality oils.

    I have litterally hundreds of books but always come back to yours, you just make things so simple and straight forward! One question though, how on earth do you stop the paper buckling with so much water on the sky?? Thanks for your inspiration!

      I am so pleased that you enjoy them. The paper I use, the Langton Rough is a very sturdy paper, takes a lot of working!

    Love this, Charles! I have some watercolour pencils but haven’t really used them as wasn’t sure how to. You’ve shown me how, and it’s just like coloured pencils, except for the water! Plus the scratchy scratch! If I hear that sound I know I’m doing it correctly!
