Budget E-Board Initial Impressions
zhlédnutí 255Před 5 lety
I shot this video a while back but wanted to share. This was an easy build using a belt drive kit installed onto a 40” deck I had. This new board gives me more range (about 18-20 miles) more speed (25-27mph) stability and comfort. This as compared to the shorter 30” Meepo that is smaller, lighter, stiffer, less range and less speed. I like the portability and overall performance of the Meepo bu...

    I feel pretty confident about this one working. I’m thinking about trying a combination of fiberglass/furnace cement and then wrap it up with the fiber heat wrap. My leak is where the manifold meets the downpipe so it’s super hot but I’m trying anything to avoid paying over a grand at the shop. 😬

    Do yourself favor & save your cargo from being stuck and poked from those knobs & threads on the U-bolts. Turn them upside down, with the U-bolts inside the rack & the knobs (or as I chose, nylon aviation nuts) on the bottom. Same strength, same system. Since the metal bracket is now below you factory cross bars instead, the only thing inside the rack is the flat end of the U-bolts. And that isn't even as tall as the tubes running from front to back. Oops, sorry...I forgot to tell you "GREAT VIDEO"

    How many layer is the minimum and can you cut it and do 2 spots

    • @rightorwrong9412
      @rightorwrong9412 Před 3 lety

      There isn’t necessarily a minimum layer you just want to make sure you have overlapping coverage. If the holes and pipe circumference allows you may be able to cover more than one hole. That may take some calculating on your part what you need to cover and if you have enough length to do so.

    • @rightorwrong9412
      @rightorwrong9412 Před 4 lety

      DanDan 215 is replacing the flex pipe expensive or difficult? There are some flexible options. I would probably use a header heat wrap if you wanted something temporary for a while assuming you don’t have a huge hole to cover. You should be able to pick up a small role (15ft) of it at a local auto parts store. Make sure it has the metal straps to secure both ends of your wrap.

    It strikes me as poor design that the bolts attaching to the roof rack protrude up and can snag suitcases or whatever. Maybe cut them off? But then the treads get buggered up unless you have a re-threader.

    • @afewgoodnoobs7934
      @afewgoodnoobs7934 Před 3 lety

      ever think your catalytic converter was plugged up to hell so your exhaust was full of pressure? It probably had a plugged cat and would blow it out trying to find any form of escape due to lack of flow. If you have a clear converter and muffler there is very little resistance and it shouldn't make enough pressure to push that open if done right.

      @matthewmcgarvey257 Před 11 měsíci

      Also to note if it’s a big hole you might try using an aluminum can or steel can as a backing as to give the tape a fighting chance against the exhaust. Also I haven’t used this product but have done quite the amount of research in the last 3 hours so take that for what it’s worth lol

    I just bought one of the 84" versions of this rack, and I think the entire neighborhood heard me as I struggled with assembling this disaster. Between missing parts, misplaced holes, parts that would not fit and needing a ratcheting tow strap to pull it together to get the "slide in" attaching points to fit together, I pretty well turned the air blue for several blocks around (be sure the kids' tinder ears are not around when trying to build this junk). I had to use different bolts in several points as the ones supplied would not fit (holes were either in the wrong places or the threads were not correctly made and bolts would not tighten), and the bolts are made with such cheap metal that if you do manage to get the supplied hex wrench to put them in, the wrench strips the heads as you tighten them so the bolts can never be removed again. The 84"x 39" dimensions listed on Amazon are not the actual sizes (closer to 79" x 37") due to the steep angle of the front which makes the forward 6" or so useless. I managed to dent the bars on the rear trying to use a mallet to drive the "slide in" joints together, then figured out you need a ratchet tow strap to do the job, so be sure you have one available. To fit the extension section in you have to first press the left and right sides of each into each other, then press two connecting shafts, and 4 endcap sets in all at the same time, and hope the holes line up to bolt it in (which they won't do). When putting in the flat side supports in make sure you do NOT tighten the bolts until you have them all in place as they don't fit very well and I even had 3 of the holes not fit at all (had to use metal screws instead of the provided bolts). All in all it took about 90 minutes to assemble this beast with a lot of tugging, pounding, and swearing along the way.

    @113_gaming7 Před 4 lety

    Why doesnt anyone flip the bolts around? The one that hold the basket to the rack, that way they dont point up, instead they point towards the roof
