New song idea ⭐️
zhlédnutí 625Před 2 lety
Hi! I'm sharing a new idea I came up with yesterday and I'll probably fully produce it. I don't think it's meant to be only piano, or maybe a piano version, and then a more orchestrated version. It's in 5/4 but it almost sounds like like a waltz!

Coming here 2 years late to say their show at House of Blues Anaheim in August 2003 was 100% rad. Live, there was even more flexing of time between sections of songs, Danny Goffey was the secret sauce of the band, he was simultaneously unhinged and in complete control
Listen to you never know gorge 02
Ive been a fan for 30yrs and i stil go to see Gaz Coombes solo. Gaz is basically my idol ❤ ive met him a few times now and hes so humble. Im hoping for a 30th anniversary tour for Supergrass x
This was a great watch and good to see someone recognising the ever changing music styles that Supergrass put out over the years. They understood the importance of surprise. In particular it was nice to see Beautiful People included. It’s such a great tune. Faraway and Sex! would have made interesting additions.
I've been a fan for 25 years (Pumpin On Your Stereo in 1999!) and I didn't know Rob was an astrophysicist! Life on Other Planets, baby!
Definitely listen to anything he's done on The Art of the Trio volume 4! If you like Radiohead, listen to his version of Exit Music... Also, Nice Pass off that record is the most insane trio jazz recording I've ever heard, I swear, you'll be blown away. Just give it some time to reveal itself.
Supergrass are amazing and so underrated. So many of their songs have such cool chord progressions that just itch a part of my brain in a good way
A Beatles comparison is always favourable.
Supergrass are cool ,and you're deffo my kind of girl 😊
Good list of tracks. I was holding out for both "Richard III" & "Sun Hits the Sky" though😥. The former our band plays as a cover. Bass player Mick Quinn provided great bass lines and back vocals. He's now a permanent member of another Oxford band and my absolute fav Shoegazers, Swervedriver. If you like interesting chord progressions, tension and off the wall tunings, you should give them a listen.
This is a really great list, but maybe shoulda added "St. Petersburg" to the list. But they have so many good songs. Can't possibly pick just 10.
I thought I was the only one in the US who liked Supergrass or even knew who they were. It's nice to know that other people love them too. They are probably one of my favorite bands of all time. Definitely in my top 10.
Fantastic band
Wow, that was moving.
Supergrass is such a fantastic band
I enjoyed this . Thanks . They gonna be your new favorite band .and moving is the best ever song about life on the road.
Pumping on your stereo & Richard the third are the best Supergrass songs IMO
He work on the Prelude No. 3 in C sharp Major With the same armor That's the basis of the subject 👋
brad is amazing.. in this theme play on the 10/8 and little variations in 9/8… thanks for you análisis 👌
Please do Crash into Me
Sugar Plastic
Tales of Endurance Parts 4, 5, and 6 is one of my favorite songs of all time. Driving from LA to Laughlin, along hwy 40 past the Joshua Trees at sunset while blasting this song...that is a VIBE
I love your reaction and appreciation of this band. There were a lot of non-singles in this list, which are some of their best songs. Check out a song called Run. Lots of cool harmonies and chord changes in that. Very cinematic, which you'll like.
No Richard III?
I adore your musical knowledge and concise breakdown. Much Respect.!
Fantastic video!! As a child of the 90s I know of Supergrass and liked the songs I'd heard (ie their hit songs), but never bothered to listen to their albums in full. I'm currently working through their entire body of work and wow... I totally underestimated this band...
Film score for”moving” watch “East is East”. Brilliant film. As are Supergrass, one of the best ❤
I bought this album when first released. The worst song on it is the most well known ‘Alright’. I’m 59 yrs old now and I still play it in my car - my son likes them too. I’m in the Uk 🇬🇧 btw.
Your hot
Check out Gaz and Danny’s album of covers “Hot Rats”
A better point of reference than Debussy or Satie for this piece are the piano pieces in Darius Milhaud 's polytonal "Saudades do Brasil." Also, chordal seconds have been hit in jazz at least since Bill Evans played them in his solo on "So What" in the album "Kind of Blue." Mehldau of course incorporates just about everything and can play at a higher level of complexity than just about anybody in jazz.
Brad is amazing. No one is doing what he does, these days. Do a video on the "And I love her Tune?"
This video “randomly” appeared on my feed, most due to the fact that I’ve been going back over concert footage of SuperGrass. I gotta tell’s a It’s was great to watched your learned responses to their music. A fellow musician turned me on to them years ago, and I think they are the greatest English band from that period. They balance sophistication and finesse with Rock’n power. I think their pieces are especially moving to other musicians. It was great watching your responses, I could totally relate.
I was 15 when Mary was released and I spent a couple of weeks trying to nail the Rhodes part so I could show off to my mates from school. We all went to see Kula Shaker at the Wolverhampton Civic and afterwards we ended up in a pub (totally underage drinking) and there was a piano there. All my mates were going "play Green Onions," but I had Mary up my sleeve! The landlord of the pub came over and I thought he was going to kick us out for being underage - he offered me a job to play piano every week on a sunday! He must've been a Supergrass fan also. Bloody love Supergrass. They always scratched an itch that I never knew was itchy...if you know what I mean? Thank you for a great video. It's always cool to witness someone get into it..especially when they turn the switch and do things you don't expect.
Chilly Gonzales analyses / describes songs in 5 min. No need for a 45 min Video
I little bit Beatles, a little bit Radiohead, quite a lot Kinks, if you ask me! (and, like the Kinks, criminally underrated)
Watching you listen to them for the first time reminds me of the first times I listened to those songs. I think it’d be fun to hang out with you and listen to new cool music. Good video. Thanks.
It’s super enjoyable, watching you feel the way I remember feeling when I first heard this in the 90s. Very nostalgic vibe even back then. And it’s pretty impressive watching you really get it and feel it and understand it. I’ve been listening to these songs thousands of times, and it was nice to kind of go back and have you break it down to remember all the little parts that I’ve neglected to pay attention to since I first discovered them.
Mary is still super cool and very catchy.
Nice, I really liked the lyrics😀
I'm always a bit surprised when a band as good as Supergrass get's overlooked in America, when complete jank like James Blunt or Sam Smith seems to hit the right buttons.🤷♂
