Russell would have benefitted from the support of teammates who accepted him as he was, for all the incredible strengths his disposition provided for a team of hotheads. Not everyone performs at their best full of emotion. I always found Doug to be so patronizing in speaking about Russell, as if he was his tutor; as if Russell wouldn’t know, himself. Russell got pretty far without the help of Doug Baldwin in his life. Russell accepted every single guy on that team for who they were, and didn’t try to change them. This is so rare, that they chose to see it as a flaw, and decided there was something wrong with HIM, instead of themselves.
