Happy belated birthday 🎉 I’ve been having some of the same troubles with colourwork socks and so far it’s worked best when I only catch the floats when I turn my work (on magic loop), perhaps that will help? Though it will leave some longer floats I feel the same as you about having a channel and sharing - started a little while ago and I feel so great in this community, even if I only have a few followers😅

Lovely episode as usual❤ If you dont get to spin the beautiful raw wool you can always take up needle felting 😊 it is a nice and rather easy way to use the wool and get a good (and quick) results. Maybe needle felting a little sheep as a thank you gift 🎁

Charlotte usually recommends not catching floats and using a size bigger needles for the color work, maybe that will help it fit

Your unspun will bloom beautifully when you block it. I am not aware of it breaking once knit up. The stitches really want to stay together once knit. Your sweater looks beautiful. Your garden looks amazing. We have been enjoying lettuce and zucchini from our garden. We still have tomatoes from last year that I froze so we have been fortunate. Our peppers didn't turn out, we have never been successful with our peppers. We grew them from seed and we don't use chemicals but they had a funny chemical taste. I hope you had a beautiful birthday. You mentioned feeling old. I do not know your life other than what you share on line but it can be tough sometimes. I will be 54 this December and if I may share some unsolicited advice.. as I age I feel things a little more, physically and emotionally. Some days this is tough others it is ok. I have started to appreciate that (as cheesy as this sounds) each day is such a gift and dwelling on the ills or not being where you thought you would be is wasting that gift. This is my experience and I do not know if this is yours, I guess all this is to say you are not alone. As for the noise yes we can hear it but it not annoying, it is lovely especially since you shared where it is coming from. We can also hear the wind blowing through the leaves and it is a wonderful peaceful sound. All the best to you my friend, I wish you lots of joy, laughter and peace this year.

Before taking up knitting, I had been soapmaking for about 10 years. This reminded me how much I enjoyed it. I think I need to make some lanolin soap myself now, never tried using my own soap on my knits. And the swedish linseed soap is fascinating!

it was interesting to observe how you plant potatoes:) basically, until I was 20 years old, I both planted and harvested potatoes, and it was a huge field, and it was always a lot of cleaning, a very tiring day🙈 And they just grew there:)) nobody watered them , but it was necessary to hoe the weeds. rhubarb flatbread is also very popular here. Inspire me, I want to bake :)

Hi! i'm new here! watching this already in May 2024, but i wanted to share the idea for the Rowan Felted tweed yarn in amethyst color in case you haven't already knitted using this - i used this yarn to make a pair of gloves, 1 skein should be enough. these gloves are super warm, i wore them during whole winter, even in -20 degrees celsius and less and it feels great! alpaca in the composition can make a piece feel a little prickly, but not that much, and to my mind this helps not to get cold in winter, but i won't recommend to use this yarn for hats or scarfs or any piece that is in touch with sensitive skin parts like neck or forehead. hope that my comment helps 😊 and i can really relate to this topic of buying yarn faster than knitting from it. i'm trying to make purchases more rationally and have a specific project for yarn i'm going to buy and honestly estimate my already planned projects and yarn stash. so you're not alone in that!

I’ve done that too. I had the weekender in a beautiful green from knit picks. I only had the sleeves left to do and I frogged it. It just wasn’t what I had envisioned for that yarn.

I am glad to share any knowledge or experience 🤗 I had carpet beetles when I moved house, they ate the wool carpets and also one of my hand knits 😢Although I would prefer not to use plastic I think it’s the best way to deter those wool hungry insects. I washed my woolens last weekend to store for summer, they will be very welcome in September again.🧶

If you don’t need the yarn then I say wait until September and if you still don’t like it then frog and use the yarn to make something else. I like the cables design but the moss stitch ruins it for me. I am such a lover of stockinette stitch though. I’m in the uk and I use mm.

If I'm unsure about the project, I put it in my project bag and let myself think about it. Maybe you'll want to frog it? Maybe you can leave it as a vest? Give yourself some time, you'll see how you feel about the sweater after a while
