Native Thai living in the U.S. here. I honestly miss my life in Bangkok. The luxurious lifestyle in Thailand is cheaper than in the U.S. If you want to live in a walkable city like Bangkok where BTS is 5 mins away, walk to get food anywhere, shop in enormous malls like Siam Icon, where to find that in the U.S.? The closest maybe New York, but how much does it cost to afford to live in a 2 bedroom high-rise apartment with excellent facilities in a good area? With the same amount of money, Bangkok is the way to go.

Fern is savvy, smart, independent, and quick to learn about other cultures. Not every Thai could come to a foreign country to work and survive. (Just as not all Americans could survive living in a foreign country. I have lived/ worked in five different countries, now retired in Thailand.) Where she lives , (close to her job), makes sense (a safe area) but I wish she could share a larger apartment with another Thai. $1300 is a lot of money out of ones budget. I wish this clever, fun, Thai the best. Good interview. Thanks

I lived in Thailand for a few years way back from 2004-2006. Overall, I had a good experience apart from a few rough patches. I'm curious, have you experienced any discrimination there? I know Thais do discriminate a bit, perhaps not as much as parts of the US.

No matter which developed country you live in, the cost of living will be the main thing weighing you down. It determines how your life will be. I would live in a developed country for one reason only, that is nostalgia and for the connecting with old friends. For quality of life I'd still chose to live in a "Third World" country 'coz so long as you got good imagination, work hard, get a few connections, you got a better Q of life hands down. Finally, one of the caveats of the "Third World" environment is the relatively (compared to developed countries) more lenient regulatory environment, which allows you to navigate the business environment much more easily if you so choose to create your own business.

Who told her that Texans are racist? I am a Thai person (who consider myself Thai Texan) and who has lived in TX for over 25+ years, and I feel so comfortable and safe here. I wish people of color stop saying everything is racist. Yes, Texans are open minded. In Plano, TX., which is a suburb of Dallas; it’s a huge community of Asians. It’s like San Francisco. During 1996-1998, I was a Thai student at Vanderbilt. My rent was $550 a month for a one bed room apartment. Now, the rent maybe approximately $1300. She cannot finish the food because of large portion. Later on, that portion is just the right amount.😊 This video reminds me old memories.

Honestly, the United States is a great place to make a living but Thailand is a great place to make a life! Make your career in the US but retire early in Thailand.

It's a darn good thing you went to Nashville over SF & for many reasons > Dallas would have also been better than SF but Nashville by far the best location of the 3. & imo Thailand is most definitely a 1st World Country > Medical system far superior to the US...no question...and far more affordable as well. & yes...the "family cow is sick send baht" story is not nearly as effective as it once was .... even so PT Barnum was spot-on...a Sucker is born every minute😜 Good stuff Isaiah getting a Thai perspective on the US 👍

Thailand is not a third world country in my perspective...She has not been to the white hood or black hood yet lol. It is very interesting to see a reverse perspective.
