Iceland XLIV- Documenting Lónakot, Brunnhólar and Óttarsstaðir│ Part 140
* * * Ruins of old farmhouses at Reykjanes Peninsula - So called Hraunjarðir * * *
Óttarsstaðir is a land in the so-called Hraun in the land of Hafnarfjörður. The lands that are within the local boundaries of Hafnarfjörður southwest of the market place were formerly known as Hraunjarðir.
In 1966, the town council of Hafnarfjörður agreed to use the right of first refusal on all plots and real estate in Hafnarfjörður west of Krýsuvíkurvegar, and the Óttarsstaðir land was among them.
Óttarsstadir has mostly escaped all modern constructions and there you can find an almost untouched cultural landscape. Because of this, the area is quite a popular outdoor recreation area today
