After watching it twice, I now feel like I'm an expert at it, also. That's what many years of CZcams has done to me.

Her speed is impressive, the vessel is secure, however I'm a Career Sailor and a stickler when it comes to attention to detail and doing things "text book". I would rather tie a proper cleat hitch in 20 seconds than what she did in 3.

I just learned how to do this cause I saw one of our summer employees do this the other week at the boat rental place I manage. Needless to say, I’m definitely gonna get this down perfect to up the tips I get handed when boats come back lol

Too many wraps, the locking hitch is backwards, and you never need two of them if you do it right. A proper cleat hitch is a 3/4 wrap, one turn around one horn, and a locking hitch around the other, with the inside lines parallel to each other. That way, they'll never jam or slip. The way he tied it, you'll need a knife to get it loose if it ever takes a serious strain on it.

Probably 15 years ago there was kid at the beach that works the dock during summer, probably around 13, and he would do this when boats came to fill up with fuel or grab something from the store. Very impressive no matter who’s doing it.

This is pretty easy to do. Most dockstaff who've worked the job over a year would know how to do this. Especially at a big or busy marina.
