    I have demo'd both Gullfoss and Bloom and I like how Bloom has some adjustments with focus on specific frequencies, compression settings and M/S. Gullfoss sounds great but you basically can only set tame/makeup amounts, bias/high general eq and high/low pass filter. Since they are essentially the same price, I think Bloom wins it slightly.

    I do this but with the 76 style compressor what I like to do especially on rap vocals is put it mid attack fast release. This allows the vocals pop out something similar to a kick side chained to a bass.

    There’s gonna be a ton of people fussing at you about the order of the compressors in serial. For me, the 2A before the 76 has garnered better results on a majority of my songs.

    I just did a few hours of mixing with LCD-Xs. I didn't solve my mix problems. Despite their high quality, these headphones are no replacement for a well treated room. So put your money there first. If making noise in a room is not an option, then do headphones. But, it won't work as well. Eventually you gotta hear your mixes through real speakers.

  • @rickfowler3710
    @rickfowler3710 Před 7 dny

    Surely the 76 should be first as it would work on the transients before the more broad compression of the la2a which would otherwise be reacting to said peaks?

  • @MaPa60
    @MaPa60 Před 8 dny

    When you parallel the fast attack, what does this do to the transients - does it let some of them through? I rarely like to hear compression grab a note, except for percussion.

    • @sac5608
      @sac5608 Před 8 dny

      yeah so if you want punchy drums 30ms attack, for snappy drums 10ms but if your drums are snappy/punchy and short i would just leave them alone or use a clipper to get rid off the rogue transients. edit sorry im tired i didnt read the parallel part so basically its a dry/wet signal you can add the compressed version back to the original giving it more RMS/body without spiking the transients too much

  • @Sebastian_Baran
    @Sebastian_Baran Před 8 dny

    ever notice how on headphones it's a lot easier to hear compression at lower volumes than at higher?

    • @sac5608
      @sac5608 Před 8 dny

      yeah because your ears naturally compress loud sounds. thats a good way to compress is to listen to low volume just so you barely hear it

  • @mugenDelta

    fast attack = more rounded sound, less punch, controlled fast spikes. so its main purpose to round sounds, make it silky and to fight the punch :) plus it's very useful for sound design (layering).

    Hello! Excellent video and thanks for the Practical conclusions in comparison. I clearly understand - based on the graphs, that the Audeze LCD-X will be more "linear". Tell me please - I have read a lot of bad reviews about the standard cable - which comes with the Audeze LCD-X. And many people replace it with something more expensive. But I do not see the point in this. After all, all (smart) people and engineers know that cables instantly CHANGE the frequency response. But the Audeze LCD-X were developed specifically for their own branded standard cable. Tell me please, do you work with the standard cable, or have you replaced all the standard cables with the Audeze LCD-X? Thank you!
