Best I can tell this is actually what we’d call an octave mandolin here in the States, which is sometimes called a mandola elsewhere.

Beautiful playing. I’d love to hear a whole album of dance music on those two instruments. A pity we didn’t hear more of Brian’s explanation of how they played.

I forgot to mention that if I had removed the sash stop (2 vertical pieces of wood molding) first, I wouldn’t have had to cut the lip off the plastic jamb liner to remove it. That would have been the proper order of operations, but when I began I didn’t understand that I needed to pull off the sash stops first. Hopefully with this video you can avoid my missteps.

A good method to 'renew' the pinch roller is to *carefully* 'sand' with emery paper. Use fairly 'rough' grit, maybe 400. Do this in PLAY mode, but mind no 'grit' gets on to the pinch roller and marks the capstan if possible. Clean up later with Isopropanol and a Q-Tip; it'll come off like a black paste. You can then 'renew' the rubber with Rubber Renue later. Demagnetisation: Best to do this in 'one go' if possible - start with the erase head and work across the record, then playback head. Switch off when the de-magnetizer is about 2m away. Thanks for taking the time to upload this video, I quite fancy a TC-250!
