    So this is what Simplified Hay making looks like! Nothing like the mad Rush we go thru..... If we can find the operators we can average about 40 to 45 4x8 rounds per hour from the two Krone balers, but at that speed 1 10 wheel Rake operator has to hurry to stay i windrow ahead at least 10 mph.... Thank God for Auto- Steer.... because the Rake has to pass the Baler going in opposite directions.... With guidance activated the outside rake wheel misses the baler tire by mere inches... Oh Yea.... the baler tractor is on guidance also.... No Weaving necessary with Krone Balers..

    You couldnt heat the bolts cherry red....allow to cool........heat cherry read.......allow to cool...... and then try taking the bolts out ? Most times there is no need for an impact wrench if they are heated a few times. So...... again...why not remove the belts first.....much easier to work on a baler !

Sickle mower ( with the wind row bars/ cradle ) ..hay bine (New Holland 489.. 90% of the farmers forgot to take the shims out of between the rolls........making it a sickle mower " yet " ) and a disc bine. Ive repaired shafts like this too.... use the end bolt and put it in the drill to turn it. Use the bearing ( clamped in a vice) that you get new...to hold the shaft to turn it with the drill... spin it slowly as your grind it. Just like a lathe

  • @user-tc3ou6sy5f

    Why not just remove the belts ? I think much quicker.

    • @farmerpete
      @farmerpete Před 28 dny

    • @user-tc3ou6sy5f
      @user-tc3ou6sy5f Před 28 dny

      @@farmerpete Just from what I seen.....and what you say........ the belts were creating problems....since you stated the cradle was to hold the belts up. And at 7:21 Seems your having to fight with the belts to get the roll in. The cradle worked to hold the roll up....but in the time it took to move the belt around you could have removed them. Giving lots more space to work with ease. Im very familiar with these balers...... when working on front and top rolls..... belt removal makes life a lot easier ! However.......Im also familiar with a few neighbors here..... that fight just to remove belts. They cant get the splice cores / rods out. Therefore its the last thing they will consider.......removing belts ! But its only my experience and view.

    Thanks for the video Pete. My John Deere backhoe needs a new water pump due to a worn bearing. Not as bad as yours but enough to rock the fan from side to side quite a bit. At $500 to over $900 for a new pump, based on whether it is aftermarket or OE, and the rebuild kit in the $60 range, I am going to rebuild mine. I have a hydraulic press, so there is half the battle. It's always good to see someone else go thru the process, because, as you've said, there aren't any directions. Hopefully, by catching the problem before my impellor gets ruined, I'll be able to measure the clearance and know how far to press it on.

      This is what I suggested too.......not a little heat........ a lot of heat ! Cherry red ! If you have access with a wrench you have access with a torch ! Heating a bolt..... turn it cherry red.......hold the heat steady..... keeping it cherry red for a few minutes.. the heat will travel down the bolt breaking the rust / lock tight and it will come out. Takes time !

    Nice work. Looking back at some other repair videos on this baler, it looks like you’ve done a fairly extensive renew on the Vermeer. I’m thinking about a stem to stern rebuild on my JD round baler so these videos give me a feel for how far one might go with a refurb before moving on to another baler. I should think the bearings, roller, sprockets and chains pretty much have this baler in near like new condition with many more years of dependable service out of it for a fraction of the price of a new or late model used baler.
