I was the same way. Was heavy into 2010s pop and rap until I gave Bring Me The Horizon a chance because it was a friends favorite band and now metal/metalcore is 70% of what i listen to lol. The new i see stars songs have been sick. Luke Holland coming in to do the drums on these really pushes it for me imo.

NewJeans do have a Genre (of sorts)......... its 90s UK and US clubland sounds... either 90s RnB and clubland variants of it like miami bass and new jack swing... and 90s UK Garage and similar styles like Drum and Bass and Jersey Club that are all different but similar enough to mesh together :P but i TOTALLY get what yore saying... its why they always sound different yet you know its newjeans... and honestly no disrespect like you say to other groups (i am a kpop fan after all) but with a lot of them all their tunes sound kinda the same to the point where if youve heard one of their songs youve heard them all... its more typical in the rap 'trap' based kpop groups especially... which lets be fair probably makes up about 80% of kpop girl groups.

Heres my theory.. in a nutshell.. Hyein doesnt exist as a physical form but a supernatural entity.. now lets go on lol ..... NewJeans Minji, Dani, Hanni, Haerin and the 'guy' are paranormal phenomena investigators... investigating the strange goings on in the city.. the odd weather.. the UFO.. the Zebra Unicorn.. they get out of a Van at the start that literally has 'supernatural' written as a logo on it and its laden with weird devices on top (like the ghostbusters ambulance car thing had as well). None of those Members Interact with Hyein aka the bunny throughout the whole video.. it seems only the guy sees her. Minji comes to get the guy in a sort of lets go motion but it seems she doesnt see or realise Hyein is there. Even when they are dancing Hyein aka the Bunny shows up and dissapears again continuously. The bunny reminds me of Frank the Rabbit (a supernatural being) from Donnie Darko.. in that film only Donnie could see frank the rabbit... much like it seems only the guy can see Hyein in this... the lyrics suggest it might be about a 'supernatural' relationship between the boy and hyein. The dancing scenes also flip from 80s looking to current modern times with them wearing current clothing holding smartphones 1:41. Donnie Darko was also about time travel. Theres a scene if you pause quickly where Hyein is sitting to left of the screen looking ghostly holding an alien toy 4:14 (its at the bit with haerin in the dallas cowboys shirt.. shes sitting next to her on the left). Its probable Hyein is the Alien from the UFO and the bunny is her real form.. with Hyein being her human disguise that for some reason only the boy can see.... thats all i got till we see part 2 :P

New Jack Swing of late 80s early 90s REALLY reminds me of bobby brown 'every little step' check that out in your own time :)

Yes, it's the quality of mixing that I really feel unique about their music, and their vocals are just perfect blend for that. I can't really rank their music since it changes every time haha, but I love how diverse their discography is. They surely know what they're doing and I'm always waiting for their new music!

Why was them able to find these 5 people to join NewJeans? The 5 voice colors are so beautiful and harmonious with each other. I heard a lot of girl groups have better singing techniques but nothing impressive and they overused the technique too much, making it a bit uncomfortable to listen to.but NewJeans though Their singing technique isn't as good as many other groups, but they have a good and natural way of handling their vocals, not too force or formulaic. More specifically, NJS all have very beautiful vocal colors and that makes me very impressed when Listening to njs sing. When they sing, it makes me feel comfortable and enjoy the song more fully. This song "rightnow" really highlights their beautiful voices.I always enjoy them song,not be forced

I adore every single member's vocal tone in NewJeans. Also, I agree that their discography is skipless, even the songs that some seem to dislike like ASAP. I just love them sm lol.

I think Jonny's voice was made for this genre of music. He is an extremely talented vocalist and I'm excited to see the future of this band.

So this band Old Flame were the guys he was touring with on The Past Should Stay Dead tour that he did in the fall! I saw him in November and they killed it! I'm so glad he made a band with these musicians because they seemed to just vibe so well on stage! The drummer Joe is the drummer for A Foreign Affair as well. :)

I think its always so interesting to hear how people discovered Kpop. I really enjoyed listening to your experience and funnily enough it is pretty similar to mine because I discovered Kpop through K/DA back in early 2019 and ever since then its just been a massive rabbit hole that I have never left. Nowadays i have discovered and grown attached to more groups than i can count and now all of my fav artists are Kpop artists. I hope you continue to explore this amazing genre because there is so many amazing groups to discover. PS: since you asked my fav song off of this EP is Smart :)

I'm so glad you seemed to enjoy this as much as I did. Couldn't agree more with the idea that each member got to shine. Yet somehow, they still managed to write a complete journey of a track.
