How I recovered from Burnout (I needed help)
This is a video describing the huge impact Practitioner Health and Dr Helen Garr had on keeping me well and in work.
We are under immense pressure in our health service in the UK. Last month, the future of one of the very few support systems was put into jeopardy overnight. Thankfully, through strong leadership demonstrated by a number of doctors, we have managed to secure a further year of Practitioner Health for our NHS healthcare workers.
This is my personal testimony and thanks to the service.

    IDK if I was lucky, but it’s been over 9 months and I don’t crave a drop of alcohol, the key difference was that I didn’t suffer withdrawal after go’ogling and reading Steffon Barkload’s Quit Drinking Forever, not even within the first 30 days after I quit and told no one, did not need AA meetings or meds either.

    Great feedback. In the 2nd communication scenario, was there a discussion around involving the coroner since the death happened during the procedure? Did the wife request to talk to the Dr who did the procedure and how was that addressed if so? Thanks

    • @drdanbeese
      @drdanbeese Před 25 dny

      @@dridmedicaltutorial331 I explained very lightly that there would likely be a coroner referral and the bereavement team would be in touch, however, think the point of the communication station was to demonstrate breaking bad news rather than testing content. You are entirely right, death like that would be referred to coroner, but think in this acute consultation it's making the family aware of what happened in very simple terms and breaking the bad news. You can always explain we will talk about the next steps, refer you onto bereavement services etc. but for now, do you have anyone you can call or can I get you a cup of tea and give you some time to collect your thoughts etc. so yes, defo touch on those kind of nuances but remember what the primary objective of the station is. I cant quite recall re the treating team. I may have again alluded to it. I think there is less of a I guess structured or formalised approach to this one. I think perhaps if it came up you could say, I'd like you to take some time and I'll come back and answer any questions you have. Any questions I can't answer, I can endeavor to get in touch with the treating consultant and perhaps request they give you a call or arange to meet you. Again most of the station was repeating the messaging in very simple terms as to what had happened and then being very kind and empathetic and thinking about the immediate next steps. Aka, welfare of that person. Anyone you can call, anyone youd like me to inform (sometimes they don't want to or know how to explain it to relatives) anything I can get you and then probably good to explain your going to come.back and check on them. Does that sound reasonable? Thanks for commenting Dan

    Dan, You are INCREDIBLE! Your raw, deeply emotional honesty is both gut wrenching and clearly illustrates exactly what [on the surface, is you a young, fit and successful 'Doctor' with all in your life before you. Yet, the pressure and the workload you and all Junior Doctors go through does take its toll on you all. One way or another. Like you i too have suffered decades of depression and social anxiety and yes my GP was/is incredible. But i am not a Doctor. Like You and your fellow Junior Doctors, in fact all those in the Health Care profession, you all should be 'cared for' and given support and respect and understanding at all times. Each and every one of you as Health Professional deserve total support and indeed a decent salary! Typical of this disgusting Tory Government to cut vital resources to Health Care personnel. Makes me so angry! Let us all hope Wes Streeting is a person who can turn this around. Fingers crossed. Again Dan, thank you for this deep, personal insight into Healthcare and the toll it takes on you all. You are all incredible. Your channel brings to us the truth and indeed a true insight into the real NHS. Dan from the bottom of my heart, Thank You. You are incredible. Take care always... Take care of You! Thank you.
