    I don’t like 4 betting because of this. You have qq-aa or AK. He check raises flop on a very good board for you. That’s got cooler all over it. Other than JQc you can’t really see anything you’ll be ahead against

    Do a budget, please! How much can you earn in a week in your regular job? How much are your living expenses? How much does it cost to pay the interest on the loan plus paying down the capital at a reasonable rate? Then you can hopefully answer your own question. You cannot rely on poker as an income stream if you are not bankrolled for the swings.

    i know there are some how are going to get a hoot out of this but there is another way to look at situations like this. first i need to correct one of bart's statements, when you file bankruptcy it's guaranteed that within 30 days of your charge-off your mailbox will be filling up with new credit card offers and ones better then 25%, you can't file again for 7-10 years, however many years it is now, so they know they got you by the scrotum. with that said, $8k is simply to low to justify the cost of bankruptcy, with that low amount the smarter thing would be to find some of those no interest for a year on transferred balances cards and start moving the debt around, no interest while making minimum payments could free up some bank money. also 8k's too low but $15-20k and up not so much, it might be cost advantageous to stretch the credit a little further. however, there is one factor which i know was in the back of bart's mind but he didn't come right out and say it as bluntly as i will, if you do scrounge up a one time hail mary bank, are you going to be able to be unattached yourself enough from the money to take the risks necessary , the nik "24 minute ' airball money means nothing mentality or is knowing that's all you're going to get going to make you too hesitant to pull the trigger when you need to...........

    For context , hero is a a 22 year old dealer who gets good tips from our villain here when he is on the job. While villain is a paid prop who plays very tight and is friendly with hero and a good tipper. He turns the jack over as an act of good faith to leave this pot alone since he plays so tight. And hero does the unthinkable. He takes full advantage, shoves the river, makes him fold, and instantly shows the bluff !! just to get insta karma and see the dude rage quit out of the room saying "no more tips for you"

    25% is way too much. Pay that off. In fact, can you really not loan elsewhere at a better rate to pay it off ASAP? Family, friends anything? Sell anything you own (or if it holds sentimental value give it as collateral to get a lower interest loan). 25% is mafia level loanshark interest. Not even sure why companies charge that much cause at that rate they must have an extreme delinquency rate simply of people going bankrupt.

  • @wesch6354
    @wesch6354 Před 4 hodinami

    As someone who was deep in credit card debt and tried playing poker to help pay them off I will say this. If you can just pay the cards off first. It will reduce the stress you'll feel, especially after a few bad sessions. If your job is only paying enough yo make minimum payments and an extra payment here and there. Play poker and put as much as possible from your winnings towards paying off the cards. But either way at 25% the debt should be priority #1.

    I am 19 and was in a semi similar situation to him, I only ever had 1.3k in debt, however I made it my first priority to work to pay it off before I started playing again, I got it all paid off a few weeks ago after only a few weeks of working a lot to get it paid off, I started my bankroll again, was up money but I ran into a bunch of costs from a speeding ticket from a while ago, as well as getting another ticket, so now I have to stop playing and I took my entire bankroll and used it to pay off everything; but now I still have more to pay off, so I’m going to take care of that first then try and start playing again. Caller should definitely do the same, credit card debt sucks, there’s too much variance in poker and he probably will be playing scared money, lock tf in keeping working and do like DoorDash or Ubereats on the side, if you’re locked in, it shouldn’t take you more than 3 or 4 months

    If he can beat the game for 30hr he should try to get another loan for 10k and start olay with that. If he gors btoke just file bankruptcy. He is young enough to do it. Even a year aftet bankruptcy you will start getting credit card offers so you can rebuid your credit

    Shoving turn is an idea or even flop with a four bet pot for me here with two flush draws on deck villain calling that flop is alerting aq kq suited maybe even not depending on player type which you said was a better reg…Or slow play kk ? I don’t like getting to greedy with aces if I’m being called down when board is getting wet affff. What do I know though…you’re deep but not crazy deep after a turn bet…especially when your setting up an all in early OP. I get the idea of max value but dang…Bart this play is weak I’m assuming? Another idea is a big flop bet?

    I always hear about these win rates of $30/hr. Ok. Lets get these players who think they make $30/hr on the same 2/5 table. What is the average win rate then? Not all players are fish. Poker players are getting better all the time. They all study and know the right plays. Then there is the variance that can cause long losing streaks. My advice is pay off the debt and play poker for fun.

    If you weren't already in debt you probably wouldn't cash advance a credit card for a bankroll(I hope not) so don't choose staying in debt over having a bankroll because it's essentially the same decision. As a 47 year old who's had multiple 6 figure years in poker and also worked many hard jobs in-between including working 28 days straight of 6 hours on 6 hours off on a towing vessel the hard jobs will actually make you a better poker player because you'll appreciate the money more and you'll have the strength to put in long hours for poker just like you used to do at work. Suffer through working 80 hours/week doing actual work not poker, don't spend time playing poker that could be spent working instead. Get yourself into a good place financially then quit one of the jobs and play poker nights and weekends when you have no debt and a bankroll that you will respect because you built it with hard work not borrowing, you'll play better poker and build character. This would be a stressful situation for someone my age, it's way too much stress for 22. P.s. this is important, DON'T LEND OR GIVE AWAY ANY MONEY, you can't afford it, yes this includes the gf, she needs to pull her weight, "I won't pay, I won't pay, no waaaaaay...."(Offspring song, before your time). There you go 47 years experience in a nutshell, use it wisely, best of luck!

    Let's hypothetically say debt vs no debt doesn't impact his game AND we're not paying off the CC...why not go down two other routes? 1 - get a bank loan, at a lower % interest, and pay off the CC, then slowly pay off the loan monthly 2 - transfer it to an interest free CC for 12 months (often at a 3% charge) then not worry about the interest building In the UK, if you don't pay off your CC in full each month you get negative credit, unsure if the same in the US. Really though, I don't get why you can't build a roll from scratch, pay off the debt, feel better about yourself and go from there. If you can beat the game, you can beat the game.

    the poker community is full of the biggest scumbags and jerkoffs i have ever met. and i’m not talking about the fact that they are simply there to take ur money under any circumstance, i mean just general assholes for no reason other than you are at the table with them and don’t know them. just either stay quiet or be nice, no need to ruin everyone’s time because you think you’re some crusher or are running bad or something that has nothing to do with everyone else. i remember being called a “douchebag” by a 60+ year old man last year because i didn’t know the dealers name after being at the table for like 15 minutes ( i am 21 and was playing my first circuit event). same guy also called me an “asshole” because i didn’t check my BB option when he limped in the SB. this type of interaction has happened several times.
