YUCK. One would have thought, that even as far back as 2006 (being AFTER the disco 70's & 80's - I regard this as being a recent audio creation).. That this track SHOULD have been created in more than just PURE MONO.!!!! Nah - it wasn't. Stereo obviously WAS NOT in the vocabulary of these so-called artists. As MONO (in one speaker) OR DUAL MONO (being the SAME MONO in each side of a stereo format system) IS NOT & NEVER WILL BE - "stereo" Why? Because STEREO means "more than one" Not simply more than one speaker, but MORE than one track, playing at the same time, across different channels. In other words, STEREO is the form of providing a LOT MORE than a mere two channels, one per side. It is a way of performing MORE than two, using JUST a two channel output device. By that - I refer to the static NINE CHANNELS, that are "hidden" (deep) within any 2ch stereo format, if the RECORDING TECHNICIAN, knows where to place these, onto a single device that has TWO recordable channels. Two microphones will record onto two channels, one per channel. YET each microphone will record "everything around that microphone" - that is contained in a 360 degree "spherical ball" area. . That means any sound whatsoever, anywhere within the defined recording area, around any single microphone. In older MONO recorders, sounds at 1M distance, in any direction, were all heard at the same "loudness". In an OLD "2ch" stereo recording environment, where the TWO microphones are deployed at a distance of ONE meter apart, any noise within ONE meter of one, will NOT be heard as loud, in the other microphone, which is ONE meters from the 1st microphone. Any sound AT the 1st microphone will be heard in the 2nd, as if ONE meter away. Any sound at the 2nd microphone, will be heard as if ONE meter from the 1st microphone.. HOWEVER? Any sound 1M from the 1st microphone, which is on the opposite side to the 2nd microphone, will be "heard" by the 2nd microphone, as if TWO meters away. AND: Any sound 1M from the 2nd microphone, which is on the opposite side to the 1st microphone, will be "heard" by the 1st microphone, as if TWO meters away. NO sound will be more than 1M from any microphone, except that 2M will be the maximum distance, if the sound is on the side OPPOSITE the other microphone. That means that you will IMMEDIATELY know, where any sound is created from, by "comparing" the loudness from either speaker, after the sounds are recorded. In other words, the sound stage becomes THREE METERS in total width. 1M LEFT of the left microphone, to 1M RIGHT of the right microphone with 1M between them = 3M Hugely different sounding, than a single microphone with merely a 2M sound stage - being anything within 1M of that single microphone. YOU cannot tell which side it is, if ONE microphone is used. Even if that is "forced" out of two speakers 1M apart, as it will ONLY sound as if midway between the two speakers. In other words, a DUAL MONO such as this MONO recording, only sounds twice as loud, directly midway between the two speakers. If on the other hand, the MASTER was created using two microphones 1M apart, even in a very wide studio. All sounds would have different output levels in the two speakers, totally dependent upon "which side of whatever microphone" was CLOSEST to the sound, being recorded. That means that anything 1M to the LEFT of the left mic, would sound as if 2M away from the RH side speaker Allowing YOU to pin-point exactly where the sound was created from: As 1M away from the LH speaker & 2M away from the RH speaker, = 1M to the LEFT of the LH microphone. This video's audio track was a MONO sent to both speaker channels at the same exact time. In other words, a DUAL MONO that sounds the loudest midway between each speaker, irrespective of WHERE it originally was; Be that from 1M to the LH side of the LH speaker, & all the way around in two semi-circular paths, until it sounded like 1M from the RH speaker. As the listener CANNOT exactly place the sound, they ONLY hear it loudest midway between the two speakers. Hence a dullness in MONO is widened to be DULLEST in two speakers. Unlike true stereo, sent into two speakers, in exactly the same layout/format as when they were recorded, meaning - one can PLACE any sound, anywhere from 1M to the left, across the stage until 1M on the RH side. That means that any sound at any time created, from wherever, can instantly be reproduced as if coming from an EXACT SPOT, anywhere across a 3M width. Stereo means channel separation is BEST when two speakers are used, but that if ONE speaker is used, it still sounds wider/fuller than simple MONO. It also means that sound that is crisper, then a duller sound, comes from the front of a microphone (and thus is placed ahead of the speaker/s) Whereas a duller sound comes from BEHIND the microphone (which places it BEHIND the speaker it comes out of) Instantly, without looking in any direction, a blindfolded person can INSTANTLY place the sound at or between maximum width as well as in front of, or behind the speaker positions. This is the reason crappy audio (recorded in Stereo), will always sound better than the best MONO recording (made in MONO only) ever will. That is why I thumbed this DOWN As it's a MONO track, forced out of two speakers. It being thus only a "dual mono" & NOT a stereo.
