Man vs Machine Challenge
Kevin Tok, our co-founder and executive director, posed this challenge to us: Can AI beat human fund managers and analysts in stock selection? The proxy for this would be Aggregate’s own Aggregate Value Fund (AVF), Kong coined this contest “Machine versus Human”. I share both the founders’ innate curiosity and the result is this new column for The Edge Singapore.
For the next 12 months, the proprietary AI of Kong’s team will pick 15 stocks. We will publish the purchase price of each stock and the portfolio valuation. The AI portfolio will be rebalanced once a month. It is a real and “live” portfolio starting with an investment of US$500,000 ($710,510).
We will publish an updated table showing the relative performance of these portfolios and benchmarks, and we will continue to do so monthly for a year. In October 2023, we will declare the winning portfolio based on the highest portfolio return. For simplicity, all our portfolios’ returns and benchmarks will be in US dollar for easy comparison.
Join us in this AI discovery journey and may the best portfolio - man vs machine; concentrated vs diversified, win.

many ideas n opinions are around to make things look complex but this is not the true situation. it is actually clear and present and even simple to understand. the ukraine war is the start of the communists big objective to change the world order and covid19, which is actually sars2 facilitated this big picture. the russians want to retake the 14 eastern bloc countries, china wants to take taiwan and eventually exert real control over all the countries of the south china sea. like practitioners of extreme religious beliefs, pootin and pooxi are fanatics of their communist ideology stalinism and maoism respectively. pls feel free to comment.

Kishore is out of his area of expertise in regards to the effect on China. The world can see that the West will completely abandon Ukraine soon leaving behind a devastated, shrunk, land locked and failed state. China has benefited from cheaper Russian energy which will be more reliable as it cannot be interdicted by the USA. Chinese car companies have replaced Western brands in Russia. Designer clothing and many other products previously sourced from the West have been replaced with Chinese products and products from non Western countries. Just a small sample of the trade that the Chinese have with Russia replacing Western brands. Russian entrepreneurs have replaced the Starbucks, McDonalds, etc., which keeps the money with Russia. GDP figures from the West show negative growth while Russia's and China's show greater than 5% growth. The point is Russia and China are doing better than the West period. The Ukraine war has essentially accelerated the decline of the West.

I have enormous respect for a thinker who's able to project his mind into the future, drawing on all the evidence of history and geopolitical politics, to draw a fantastically accurate prediction of what is likely to occur almost with the exactitude of mathematics. Prof Kishore Mahbubani is able to almost effortlessly accomplish this task: the streets of Paris erupted more than twice, the streets of all the western nations are heaving in protests, war fatigue has paralysed decision making in the executive and legislative branches of many western governments, including the EU & NATO. And there's no question that Russia will prevail in Ukraine. Western economies are tanking due to high inflation and cost of living.

When it's OVERWHELMINGLY THE CHINESE CENTURY , The Chinese graciously agree to call it the Asian Century. When the criminal west attacked & victimised China ( 100years) India (200 years) kishore called it their century of humiliation, not the dastard criminal west's humiliation? So if kishore;s wife was raped, was it all her humiliation? nothing to do with the criminal western rapist ? It is by such logic that you see the west get emboldened to continue to behave criminally with no care for the consequencies . Why wud they care? as even the victims are made to think it's their humiliation !!! wake up kishore !!!!!

It's not because the whole world is suffering from the war in Ukraine, that the West has to give up its core values. Like national sovereignty, the respect of internationally recognized borders and most of all to never trust dictatorial regimes like Russia. It has done it once (Chamberlaine) and it saw WWII as a result of it (50 - 56 million people died as a result of it). That the rest of the world starts to blame the party that invaded Ukraine, unprovoked and without reason, just to satisfy the illusions of grandeur of an imperialistic dictator, Putin.

I have been following Western media coverage of China since at least the 1990's. If I had based my understanding of China solely on their coverage, then I would have thought that China has been continously failing upwards into the second biggest economy in the world. They have been saying for decades now that China is failing. But if you look at the actual data, China has been succeeding in almost any metric. I wish I had a time machine so I could take people back to China in the 1990's and then take them forward to today's China. They would blow their minds. Now, I am not saying China is a paradise on earth. They have problems and issues. But then again, which country doesn't have those??? China is certainly not the hell on earth that Western media keep portraying them as.
