Cet été, le film catastrophe épique fait son grand retour avec un concentré d’adrénaline, une production grand écran à couper le souffle, qui vous mettra face à une des forces les plus extraordinaires mais aussi parmi les plus destructives de la nature.
Des producteurs des séries Le parc jurassique, Jason Bourne et Indiana Jones, Tornades est une adaptation actuelle de Tornade, le succès de 1996. Réalisé par Lee Isaac Chung, le scénariste-réalisateur de Minari cité aux Oscars, Tornades met à l’affiche Daisy Edgar-Jones citée aux Golden Globes (Là où chantent les écrevisses, Normal People) et Glen Powell (Tout sauf toi, Top Gun: Maverick), des forces opposées qui s’allient pour tenter d’anticiper et même de dompter la puissance des tornades.
Edgar-Jones interprète Kate Cooper, une ancienne chasseuse de tempêtes, traumatisée par une violente tornade survenue pendant ses années au collège, qui étudie maintenant les schémas des tempêtes, par écran interposé, bien en sécurité à New York. Elle est à nouveau attirée vers les plaines à ciel ouvert, par son ami Javi (Anthony Ramos cité aux Golden Globes, In the Heights) pour tester un nouveau système de traçage révolutionnaire. Là, son chemin croise celui de Tyler Owens (Powell), un influenceur plein de charme et insouciant, qui ne vit que pour alimenter ses réseaux sociaux de ses aventures et de la chasse aux tornades avec son équipe et qui court après le danger.
Alors que la saison des tempêtes s’intensifie, un phénomène sans précédent se déchaîne. Kate, Tyler et leurs équipes rivales se retrouvent pris au coeur de plusieurs tempêtes qui convergent vers le centre de l’Oklahoma, mettant leurs vies en danger.
Tornades met à l’affiche une nouvelle distribution, dont Brandon Perea Ben non, Sasha Lane (American Honey), Daryl McCormack (Peaky Blinders), Kiernan Shipka (Les Aventures effrayantes de Sabrina), Nik Dodani (Atypique) et la lauréate aux Golden Globes Maura Tierney (Un garçon magnifique).

I love wicked. Plus Ariana as Glinda is perfect and nostalgic because of her Mika popular song and her wizard of Oz parody in victorious (she play Dorothy but still. Also she NAILS Judy Garland). Also I miss her little "cat" noises from victorious. Glinda: aaaa😮 Me: cat? 😅
I remember once stumbling upon that parody one day and had no idea what it was!
I've just realised this is only Part 1, yet there's no mention of it? (I'm not a big fan, so I wasn't aware of the press around it until now). I think the movie probably needs the extra space to do some world-building and flesh out the story, otherwise why bother. It has to offer something extra. A cut-down version of the musical would be an inferior disaster. However, I'm really not a fan of watching anything 'Part One' until I'm able to watch the complete story. A couple of months? OK. A year? Nah. Looks like I'll be waiting for streaming unless my daughter wants me to go and see it in the cinema.
