Thanks Josh !
I know this video is old. but is the only good oneon this model of fork. i have only one question. The manual says 107mm clearance. why did you do 140mm. I'm sure there is a good reason. great video. thank you so much.
Thanks for the comment. Honestly don't remember why I put that amount. There was some other reference I was going by, but I can't quite remember. Worked well tho
@@JoshuaHambyRacing thanks for your reply, it's good to know it worked fine. i like how mine feels I have no idea it it was serviced before and altered or if it's factory, I'm tempted to measure the clearance on the one that isn't leaking to have an idea. otherwise, I will go factory to start and take it from there. Thank you so much for the great video and reply.
The manual calls for 110mm on the oil height. Why did you do 140mm?
nothing worse than moist residue
Thanks nice job....👏👏👏👏🔩🔧⚙️
the top one number 3 looks like it was made in the 2000s
I'm thinking the top one too. Lol you're right the bottom one looks like Swordfish a bit. Remember that one?
@@JoshuaHambyRacing yea i do the 2001
500zx? Sure about that?
It's the nickname. 5.0L 😀
Haha, ok! Fair enough. Thanks for the clarification and I used to have a 240 and wish like hell I still had it. So fun to drive, mine was 3 shades of doo doo brown but they are worth a lot these days!
Oh yea. This one has been quite a project. I was doing a series on it for a while, just getting back into it. Had a 96 explorer 5L, now I got that out and have a coyote to put in it.
@JoshuaHambyRacing nice! Hope you are enjoying it and not getting a massive headache. Good luck on the build and keep updating. I'll stay tuned..
Awesome. Definitely will do 😀
The smile on his face says it all!
Great sound! 302
Yellow tire smoke
Pollen!
Looks more like a donut to me. Isn't it burn out kind of like when you when you just sit there? Yeah, technically the same thing, but just Different😊🤣🤣🤣
Ya know I thought about that as I was putting the title in there lol. But yea you're right. Let me change that
specs?
PC specs?
So real!!
Clean up those lines. Front end damage at some time?? I have loved this car since they were first made but do it some justice
No, no damage. These vipers are known for hood and headlight gaps
Cool
Thanks!
Awesome video man! Definitely debating taking mine to a shop
nice work man
Thanks! Hope it helped. 🙏
I got one of those fuel caps that you're taking off of that thing. I just bought a thing 3 weeks ago, and now I'm just realizing that it's not keeping the water out of my fuel. I'm hoping to find a screw on fuel cap that works good for a 98 Suzuki katana. I don't want to have to go back to the original fuel cap because it's made of magnesium and it keeps getting corroded to where you can't turn the key to get it off
There's gota be a good one for it out there somewhere
What is the size of the seals for a gsxr 600 2007?
I'm not sure. Its been quite a while
what fork oil should i use? 75kg rider. riding temps 25-35 degree celsius, riding hard on weekends.. ?? stock suspension GSXR 600 k7
I've forgotten the brand I used. It's been a while.
Wanna come do mine?
I wish I could finish this project lol
That momo lookin sweet!
Looks awesome!
Idk what the hell mine won't stop leaking right fork leaking after replacing seals twice what is the deal with these forks left one is fine I used these seals was leaking so I bought oem still leaking on the right fork
Has the fork been in a crash? Maybe it's warped?
Could be the fork tube is pitted and debris or yiur bushings are wore out snd also need to be replaced. The bushings stop the fork from having excessive play which can make the seals leak prematurely
👍💪
I love the tools you made that’s legit
Are the 04 600 forks the same to rebuild?
The ford is better for this kind of swap due to the distributor is in front. The front sump pan clears well With mine its very easy to work on actually good clearance your shifter is further more forward than my S12 I was able to not us the AC bypass did some measuring and found a belt that works what part of the country are you from????I am in SW michigan. love to check out this car
Sorry just seeing your comment. I'm down in SC. Just getting back into the car build.
The GT40 (3 bar not P) are one of the best cast iron heads made for the 5.0 I like the non P heads due to spark plug angle is easier to deal with
found your project....very similiar to mine 1984 Datsun/Nissan S12 with about the same engine set up as you. I have a T5 but want to do a T56 some day
I went with a GPS speedometer and installed a blank off over the speedo hole on the T5 I would use the stock tank just put in a higher flow pump. I was a little cheaper on the gauges but do have autometer tach but Equus gauges as well as Autometer vacuum gauge(get a vacuum gauge!!) and AEM AFR gauge. I customized fuel pump housing cage to put in a Bosch sending unit that works with the fuel gauge
That sounds awesome. I'd like to see your progress. Sorry for the late response.
your swap is very similiar to mine 1984 DATSUN S12 (1984 last year of DATSUN) Nissan 200sx with mild explorer 5.0 v8. Stainless handmade headers to single 3" exhaust, Magna flow muffler. Haltech ecu stock ,gas tank, but higher flow pump, aluminum drive shaft 5 lug swap from 300zx, custom gauges cluster very similiar to yours including indicator lights. Including all normal important gauges, Ialso have vacuum gauge, and exhaust gas ratio gauge (AEM) . Stop Tech slotted drilled brakes all around. Currently a 3.9 R200 open, but getting the Nismo R200 3.15 LSD rebuilt (it got noisy after about 40000 on the swap) T5 trans Used a S13 aluminum radiator and some custom hose work. No the car wont keep up with crazy (mine should be close to 300hp so not extreme power but it came original with 1.8 l turbo with about 125 hp) high horsepower cars but it is very quick, weighs 2752 lbs with full tank of gas, small bag of tools and amp and sub-woofer. I kept the exterior very stock, full interior, with only a mild exhaust note. Just absolutely love the car My car is basically 300zx rear and 280 zx front. Plus LED POP UP HEADLIGHTS!!!! You will enjoy driving it love the older datsuns and nissans the newer ones meh... the 5.0 fits in well with no cutting required. Look up the S12(S13 14 15's are popular) its mostly forgotten
Could you show the mounts you made for this I'd really like to see them
Sorry for the late response. I'm going to get back into the project. I'll put the mounts in the next video
This is really cool I've been looking for a build like this but it's almost as if youtube wont let you find them or much z31 content I have a z31 that had an ls swap in it but I had sold it due to the pandemic lol and the explorer t5 combo seems like the quickest and cost effective way to get it back on the road
Exactly how long did this take?
Maybe an hour
How big is that shed ?
Maybe 12x8. Not very big lol
what oil do you pour?
Hey man, I really don't ever comment on youtube videos, but this one was great. very helpful. just redid my forks, thanks for the help!
Fantastic! So glad it helped!
Thanks for this awesome vid! Possible to do this without the custom fork compressor tool?
Thanks for the comment! It may be hard, but possible I'd say. Those springs are dangerous! lol
What kinda revs.... why u rolling onto it at low rpms?
Why set the rebound damping to the softest? What is the reason?
Thank you for the video. It helped me to rebuild.
heit man!!! Number of forks please!!!
Great, quick rebuild video I can give you some metric wrenches.
I read you swapped the mount plates from left to right. Did you swap the stock Z plates or the 302 mounts? Also, what was the donor car? My guess is 1996-2000 Explorer/Mountaineer.
I'm trying to recall. I think I swapped the 302 Mounts around. And I believe it was a 96 explorer.
@@JoshuaHambyRacing Dope! Got an 86 turbo and a 306 waiting to be married. Not much out there regarding mounts for this swap. Using a T5 out of an SN95 since the input shaft and bellhousing is an inch longer than the 79-93 setup for transmission placement so the shifter sits perfectly in the tunnel. #sizematters 😂🤣
Hey is there anyway you can show how the bracket toward the back connects
Hey buddy, sorry I sold it a while back.
Great Video!!!
Jesus I love working on bikes and cars but in either just buying new Ohlins or going to the mechanics lol
Good video! Have you ever tried replacing the fork bushings? I recently bought an all balls kit for my gsxr and it came with new fork bushings but I'm not 100% sure about how to go about replacing them. Apparently they're "captive bushings" inside of the outer fork tube
I like the lift idea hmmm 👌
