From LONELINESS To Connection
Feeling lonely? You’re not alone. 🥰 We’re living in an epidemic of loneliness, and in today’s video, I’ll explain why loneliness is completely normal. Then, I’ll show you a creative cure for loneliness that has worked for me and my clients. Finally, we’ll explore how you can move from loneliness to connection.
Throughout the video, I discuss different forms of loneliness, including circumstantial and existential loneliness, and how I use journaling to overcome loneliness in my life.
I’ll even share a peek inside one of my visual journals, created during a year-long solo pilgrimage. Journaling has been a lifeline for me, helping me cultivate self-awareness, process emotions, and build a strong relationship with myself. And the best part? It’s something you can do too, no matter where you are in life.
If you’re ready to explore how journaling can help you heal loneliness, stay tuned as we’ll also journal together at the end of the video. Don’t forget to check out my Daily Journal Challenge video, linked below, for more inspiration.
Let me know in the comments if you’ve experienced any of the loneliness I talk about. I’d love to hear from you!

    Thank you so so very much Lisa!! I'm not sure how I haven't found you until now, I have watched SOOOO many(99.9% of the time... USELESS) videos looking for EXACTLY what I just found in yours.. You're seriously my new favorite creator and I'm so glad I stumbled upon your page. You are such a great teacher, so many of these quote-unquote teachers on here are so unrelatable I would come onto CZcams looking for inspiration or tutorials on how to do certain things that I didn't know how to do and almost all the time ended up only frustrated or feeling like I could never be as good as these people on here with their fancy machines and expensive products and things that I probably will never own in my life, and to be honest for a while I kind of had just given up on doing what brings me so much joy which is all different sorts of paper crafting because I felt like never in a million years could I make anything even close to what everybody else on here was making. I would search and search and just could not find anything that was relatable....and then here comes Lisa saving the day with some old bank statements and some cheap paints and Bondo and things that were either already laying around my house or that I can easily pick up in a dollar store. You're a true artist and I just want to say thank you for making yourself relatable to people like myself who love creating and just don't happen to be super rich. Hi Lisa, I do keep a written journal but not a visual journal. I'm sixty three and have been an artist all my life. Every time I've tried to keep a visual journal I haven't managed it because the writing and the imagery just don't seem to gel together. I've always written. My family laughs at me because i've got books and notebooks and paper galore filled with writing. I also use a sketchbook all the time, literally every day. But the two don't come together and i'd really love to work out a way where they do. Doing that three minute prompt I wrote that I think i'm trying to be too literal or illustrative when I try to keep a visual journal. That's the first time i've thought that!

Do you have journals just full of painted pages waiting for collage, writing, etc.? Or is all done in one sitting for that page? I guess I'm trying to figure out if I need to work ahead and paint all of my pages (since I'm not really using them as palettes for other works of art). @@essentiallyleigha Great questions! I have a variety of pages - some pre-painted, lots just blank. My process is very intuitive, meaning I never pre-plan anything. Although sometimes I do begin with a color palette in mind, just because I am drawn to certain colors. My pages are more about an inner exploration, rather than trying to get a certain outcome on the page. So often, my pages are pretty messy, and really only have meaning to me, that's why I don't show them all. :) I usually write in blank ink, just because I like it so much and prefer to limit my supplies. Dear Lisa, thanks for the reminder. I will schedule my daily personal creative practice again in my calendar...the last months there was a bit of on and off....so I really feel unsettled now. Let's start again.

      @LisaSonora I've been doing watercolor and ink doodles. I prefer abstract, organic shapes. I also write poetry, so I enjoy adding text. I've also been drawn to collage.

    Finally found someone with the sense to create collage papers from your recycling. Its amazing how many artists out there use fresh copy paper🤔. Thanks for the inspiration and confirming what I have been doing for a while now, I also use inks and almost any pigment I can find. Its most satisfying when you finish of an ancient tube of paint and create an interesting page.😀😀😀

      I think sometimes completely blank paper is necessary if your paint isn't opaque or covering everything, but we should definitely do more reusing of trash

    I had done the same things that you did with the painted papers. When I used the papers, they would stick together. What can be done so the papers won’t stick together?

    • @LisaSonora
      @LisaSonora Před 3 měsíci

      If any medium is used in the paint, that can cause the papers to stick together. Plain acrylic dried well shouldn't stick.
