The Limestone Way in 48 Hours
Spring Bank holiday. Two very unfit hikers. 46 miles. Did we make it in our 48 hour time limit? Most probably not.

An Alternative Roadmap - gently road tripping through the North of England

If you came here for a hiking video...I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. But if what you're seeking is a meandering road trippy ditty set to some sleepy music then boy you're in for a treat. This is a very raw edit I threw together from a few days Tom and I spent exploring the Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland after lockdown. As the weather gets warmer and facilities in the UK reopen, we're pl...
The Pennine Way - my first solo thru-hike
zhlédnutí 39KPřed 3 lety
First long distance thru-hike, first solo wild camp, first (terribly edited) vlog thing...what's next 2020?! Here's me bumbling around the North of England in search of a good pint and occasionally getting lost in the process. Sorry about the bad audio. I'll get better next time. Enjoy!
Lovely video, kudos on the bivvy camp. It looks like u had a great adventure, thanks for sharing with us. I've walked 3 parts of the way & finally hope to do it in its entirety later this year! 🤔😉
Well done 😊
Bravo Alice good on you lady good on you for picking up a walking companion I'm.envious havent walked any of pennine
I too am a solo female walker but with my dog. Refreshingly simple, honest and really. Get a little bogged down with the ones that are super editored. keep it real!
Where did you pitch your tent?
Nice view.
Great stuff but only 3 videos. Why did you stop?
Hey Alice! Where have you gone? I found your channel, loved the videos on it and then I realised you haven't posted for a year or so. Hope you are doing ok, also hoping you return to You Tube with some more adventures soon. Stay safe, all the best, Kris :)
Hi Kris! Truth is I have fully fallen off the video editing bandwagon. Your lovely comment has given me a little push though and I'm back on my laptop - hopefully you'll be seeing a Cumbria Way vlog uploaded soon :) really appreciate the sub and comment bud.
@@AliceBatemani hope so your content is awesome
Alice, you are an absolute inspiration and have loved watching your Pennine adventure. I start mine tomorrow, though the weather isn’t the best, I have your determination in my head to push on through. Thank You.
A really sympathetic video Alice - well done. Are you going to do any more in the future?
Lovely video it's something I want to do how did you prepair for long distance hikes
I wanna do this!!!
Hello Alice. It's staggeringly beautiful indeed. Lots of great famous tourist spots, yeah! I feel like going to the airport and give it a try really, so yeah! If you ask me, I would say I'd like to go to "The Titan hole" the underground hole in Derbyshire or perhaps The Limestone Pavement in north Yorkshire, why not. That would be amazing yeah.Thank you very much inded for sharing. Saty safe! 🙂 LIKE.
Good for you ! Very well done ! and a good video (music was too loud for me 😊) 👍
Bloody well done!
I do love a fluffy dog with a plummy tail!
It would have been better if you would turn that music off. So we could hear what you say.
Well done Alice, wonderful footage. I did the PW in 1974 and 5, remember it like yesterday. Thanks for uploading.
You're spot on there.
I remember the Englisgh countryside. I was born in Suffolk, and lived in Kent and Essex, but where I live now is so different to this, although there are farms, I live on one, lol. But I'm surrounded by evergreen native Beech, broadleaf and podocarp forest, on the West Coast of the South Island Of New Zealand. It's more like jungle in places. The rest of New Zealand is much more cultivated.
Really Enjoy your filming Style. crying because you are happy been there! we live in such a beautiful world. I just completed p.w south to north yesterday all really missing the wide open spaces. Keep adventuring! All the best jon
You're spot on there.
That looked a lot of fun, hope u enjoyed.
Great job Alice, really enjoyed that.
Loved the vibe of your video. Looked like you had a beautiful trip.
Life changing stuff I reckon, you should feel very proud. What a wonderful country we live in, I hope this has given you the appetite to enjoy more of our gorgeous national trails. Really loved your video and so nice to share part of the experience with your cool mum. 🙏
Great video Alice. I walked the Pennine Way 39 years ago. Your video has inspired me to have another go next year. I live in Turkey now and can really recommend the Lycian Way.
I find overnight outs (using jumbo oats) are way tastier than the packet porridge stuff for cold soaking. Bring some raisins, almonds and some brown sugar too. Delish. Great vid
Cold soak - yuck! For me, the weight of a stove is minimal - 45gm for a stove, a small gas bottle and a titanium mug is worth it's weight in gold. A warm drink is a great pick-me-up if needed!
Excellent snippets of the trail. What time of year did you complete this?
what time of year was it and how many rain days. you seem to have a great attitude.
Hi Simon! I did the walk in July/August and had around 5 days of on/off rain. Definitely wetter towards the north of the route.
Salam from Indonesian 🇮🇩
Thanks for sharing!!!
Hi there, brilliant video! Gathering as much info as I can atm as I’m planning my own north to south trip in march! Have you any idea we’re I could get my hands on a north to south guide book? Just to save me reading a south/north on backwards!! Thanks! :)
Hi Rob, I used the Trailblazer guide book as it had illustrations for both directions but I often found it to be unnecessary weight as I primarily used the OS Maps app. The reason I found it most useful was for checking out food resupply and accommodation options so direction of travel may not be as important in the end. Hope that helps a bit!
@@AliceBateman brilliant thanks for the help!! :)
What a fantastic video. Thanks so much for sharing, I hope this will inspire people to get out there and explore more.
You've got a valid point.
That looks like so much fun. Planning to do this hike in the summer of '22. This video really got me in the mood to do it!
Great vid. Thankyou. The LW is on my radar. I have just received the route booklet from Derbyshire Dales. Need to decide between a winter trek or wait for longer days/ warmer weather next year. Love your dog.
Amazing, really inspiring, you have a new sub. Did it take a long time to plan this journey? X
Hello! It was a pretty last minute decision actually so only took a few weeks of planning. In my opinion, once you've got accommodation and kit sorted, you just need to get out there!
Hi Alice … great to watch the trail the opposite way round !! Nice vid ! 😁.
Well done Alice. Good to see you out and about again. Tom either needs new shorts......or new legs. The present combination is quite horrific!!! There is another walking CZcamsr channel who does a lot of walking with his dog. Its called 'Hounds of Howgate'. Well worth a watch. Take good care and best wishes. Ian H
His shorts! 🤣 Got to get some of those!
Nice video, thanx for sharing your adventures. I'm walking the PW in section done about half so far, cant wait to get back out on the hills for some more miles.
Great way to do it!
Great hike out guys its definitely on my to do list. I think you need to use the sparkling smart water bottles they have a different thread. And I don't no how you can eat cold noodles I always carry a stove 🤣🤣 atb daz
Wow 48 hours, I completed this trail in June but took 4 days !!! Well done all
This was really nice, you made it look to easy though.
Haha I suppose it's not totally representative as I didn't feel like filming myself when the going got tough!
Pretty inspirational, thanks!
Great video Alice! Nice to see other young British walkers documenting their journey. The only thing I object to is your pronunciation of the word scone ;) I'm on day 10 of the coast to coast right now and your video definitely inspired me to get over the final stretch. Keep exploring 💪
Cheers Michael! The Coast to Coast looks stunning...hope it was an incredible experience for you. Any others planned?
Stunning! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Wishing I could have hiked alongside you but as I am 73 years of age and on the wrong side of the Atlantic... Best to you on all your future treks and many thanks for sharing your story with us! Kind regards...
Thanks for the lovely comment Mike, glad you enjoyed it!
I couldn't agree more.
Can u just pitch up along the route or u gotta get permission
love the vid girl! also plz post the van tour you mentioned in the description if possible!!x
oh also if you see this and you are thinking about possible vids, maybe you could post a video about ur hiking/ camping gear? :)
the music sucks
#Walkingfriend? Just found you on CZcams- #newSub I've been getting into solo walks/ hikes and loving it. But also looking to find some people that would be up for either walking together / camping together or solo walks and meeting up for a wild camp. I live mostly in the midlands but will be moving near Leeds. I'm happy to walk pretty much anywhere where there are some awesome views. Average fitness, maybe slowish walker but that's improving. If you would be interested I'd love to make a group of WhatsApp group so we can contact each other and see if anyone available? #Uk #NationalparkWalking
